Not in that colour, those things are just artificial ego enlargers for rich guys who are scared that they have small penises, painting it pink just reverses the effect. it's as camp as a row of tents! ;D That's the colour of the one I sat in at the motorshow back in '89 (ish?)...the interior is colour coded. It certainly didn't seem camp...just stunning!

My 1st thought wa the original Cosworth engined escort. The Mk1 RS 1600, I love 'em. It stems from having a Mk1 escort as my first car, I just wish it had been an RS1600

We got the Cavalier as a Vauxhall over here, although I don't think we got an RS model.

We got the Cavalier as a Vauxhall over here, although I don't think we got an RS model. Might have been the other way around. Haven't checked the years but GM has this habit of re-introducing European branch cars over here after they've shown promise in the UK or on the Continent. Then they leave the US designers to the bigger vehicles. Ford may claim the Escort as a "World Car" but GM's been doing it quietly for years with the likes of the Kadett and Cavalier. Just change the names.

When you say RS to me I think... Skoda 130RS Skoda 200RS Fabia vRS, should be RS but changed to vRS to stop legal battles with Ford Octavia vRS and of course... RS6, 4.2 v8, wonderful, an estate too!

Those were my second thought, my first were the Escort RS rear wheel drive models (a Scottish petrolhead can't help thinking of Jim Clark's Escort rallying days!) but I'm a big USSR car fan too.

RS to me a couple of years ago would have got me thinking about fast Fords, the MK2 Escort RS2000 mostly. More recently, being an avid reader of EVO magazine, the various incarnations of RS Porsches spring to mind also (911 2.7 RS being a must buy car if I won the lottery!) This thread has opened my eyes to other manufacturer's (rather brilliant) RS badged cars. The letters 'RS' despite standing for different things are in each case applied to more driver focused variants of the base model cars. I don't think that the true preserve for the RS badge is Porsche - it should be a global indication to other road users to what ever car the RS badge is attached 'not to mess' Ultimately saying the letters R... S in a dramatic deep voice sounds cool ;D

Somehow painting it pink is a message from the owner saying that he didn't buy it for its looks or prestige but because of how it drives. There's one in the village of Onley near where I live, that the owner uses for trackdays/sprints. Its always covered in road grime (which looks as if its been obtained at high speed) And event stickers - despite its colour I think it looks as hard as nails
