Decent leads are an to find. I've only found them on ebay, you have the cheap green ones (about £4 a set), they're the right length, but a bit curse word. All the others seem to be universal length. Apart from the Accuspark one that you cut to length yourself. I got them to the perfect length and they looked great, but the silicone they use is too soft, and you couldn't pull the lead off without the silicone ripping, so they were pretty useless really. If you find a decent set of OHV length leads, or good DIY cut leads, make sure you post them up and give me a shout please

Had a brief play with the Viva today, it's fair to say that cash (or lack of it) has stopped play for a while, there's a hole in the sill that I have to address before the MOT that I discovered whilst fitting the seats, ho hum.....
oli8925 - For the leads, if memory serves me correctly my local factors sell them separately for odd-ball applications, so I'm going to be measuring them up and buying a set that way, I think. Saying that, it started first time again while I moved it around earlier.....

Update!! In a slight turnaround, last night whilst sorting a few other little bits out, after months of 'do I, don't I' head scratching, I decided to remove the white number roundels from the car, armed with my trusty garage spec hair dryer, I sloooowly started to peel the sticker off the roof first and you know where this is going don't you?
It went fine for about 1/3 of the way, then the high quality paint job showed it's true (ahem) colours and peeled the paint off in a perfect sodding circle.....
Now, I SHOULD be really pi$$ed off at this but there's an upside to it, the paint job is truly awful, can't get a suitable match to touch up anyhow and so..... big changes coming today my friends!
The '76 Coupe of Tigran's is cool in a menacing post apocalypse kinda way, I love the Nato Green goodness that is B-8-D's Estate, but it's been done now, The lack of original interior kind of negates the idea of restoring it to a shiny-shiny show condition that will please the rivet-counters..... So, I have a plan my lord..... updates to follow

This kind of sums it up really, paint loosely sprayed under and around the bumper over the top of the oily muck beneath it , none removal of rear lights before spraying, kind of reveals the lack of preparation done before the re-spray in '70's Bathroom Suite Green'...

Finally refound this thread! Met you briefly at the Waddington show where I was there in the Princess with the Motornutz club. I was soooo tired, so not exactly the most sociable of people, sorry about that! Interesting change of direction happening here, and though I liked the old bathroom green, I can definitely see why you've ditched the Dulux special in favour of the new coat.

Oh yes, I've been following the Polo with interest too, I accidentally lost my Waddington pics (except for the ones I'd uploaded elsewhere) but the Princess is one nice car, and certainly an alternative from the usual classic car fodder! Was good to chat, will be sending a PM soon about another issue!!

Been too long since I did an update on here, so here goes..... Real life kinda got in the way, work pressure, with further work pressure meant that the Viva has spent months without attention, still, the garage is dry and it wasn't going anywhere so the poor car was left. This year however, I've changed jobs (not going into that too much - but it was my choice at least) so my car mojo has returned somewhat helped by working with two classic and vintage motor enthusiasts too, although I'm confident they'll not 'get' the Viva. I know I'm supposed to have a blow by blow account of everything that has/has not been done over the last year but I haven't, so here's a few pics so you can see where it's going...
The seats, whilst not to everyone's taste, and before someone says that "They're the wrong period for the car, think of the kittens...." etc etc I already had them from a previous Toyota Celica project. The seatbelts that were fitted to the car were shot and thanks to the mounting of the passenger inertia reel only allowed 'skinnies' to clip the belt in, in the passenger seat. A pair of lovely date expired competiton harnesses were given to me for the cost of two pints of Guinness, so they're in with a bit of OCD fitting. I know I'll probably loathe them once I'm using the car, but curse word it, they look the plums. I've lined the boot, with some wood effect cushion floor type stuff, along with the chrome runners from the back of the original (?) knackered rear seat. Step-daughter thinks the boot looks like a hearse, I like it. No back seat is going in (no passengers then) so I've used luggage netting to keep the contents of the back half of the car, in the back. The front has seen some work, especially the dash. I'd carbon wrapped it, and made a reasonable job, but once the warmth of the sun had hit it, it stretched and looked a mess, not a happy bunny, so I had to strip the damned thing out again. Now it's had fibreglass, spray filler/primer and a satin black finish, not mint or factory, but looks far better, and will with the right stickerage too. The bodywork is getting there, there were a myriad of holes from previous seat bodgery for a start, a flappy front wing and found all manner of bits of fridge type aluminium coated with filler in the sills and in the back arch, I'm working my way through this, and here's the great advantage of the red oxide, no colour matching etc afterwards, just get the tin and the brush out! Got married too somewhere in the fun and frolics, kept on teasing her that I'd use the Viva, but borrowed a nice but (horror) not original MGB GT..... Did this little event in a field, next to a circuit somewhere with the daily Lolvo (Viva NEXT YEAR!!!!) Met some really nice folks including getting to thank Si with the OTHER Viva Estate for his help with the handbrake bits, and other folks some of whom are dafter than me, but similar taste in cars... ....This is pretty much where we are now, still some welding to go, but SLOWLY getting there, and happy with it too....

Congratulations - and welcome to the wonderful world of Vivas. Part of the fun is sourcing parts and that's where fellow Viva owners club together to share bits. Some parts are rare, some virtually unobtainable, so the network of owners is important. Consider joining the Viva Owners Club, there's a good spares side to it and people are interested in what each other do. Some keep theirs original as possible others modify them - the only key thing is respecting the cars and each other. Are you going to start a thread for it?

Its a small world after all, I was speaking to you last night about swapping springs. I reckon you should go custom with this car, make it to suit you. As you suggest on fb, flames would look pretty cool and unique. If you get a chance, pop over to my thread as I'm doing a modified viva. Welcome to vivadom

Nice one - good to see it active again on here! I sold it to fund purchase of an Mx5 which as it turns out almost had as much rust as the Viva! Would be great to see the old 'donkey' thread active again! We need pics!!
