Hi Guys
I may be buying some Jdm alloys from here but one of them has a slightly bent lip, Does anyone have any tips for Diy straightening?

as above, but warm the area 1st with a plumbers gas torch. you want it warm enough that you can still just about touch it without burning your fingers. it will make it less likely less likely to work harden and snap. get it too hot and you will change the structure of the metal and be left with £10 worth of scrap alloy

As above, get it hot first. Don't attempt it without heating it up, it'll likely crack or cause stress fractures otherwise, dependant on the size of the area.

Would it help if i had a piece of metal the same curve as the wheel lip, Then hit the metal with a hammer so it spreads the blow from the hammer evenly?

First rule of metal work is when beating always to use a dolly so it would also be helpfull to have something roughly the shape you want it to be. As others have said heat will prevent cracking but be very carefull not to heat it too far or the metalurgical structure will change and it will become very brittle and then you'd have to anneal it to bring back the toughness. Id also be a little dubious as it could be very hard to get the shape perfect enough to get an air tight seal if it is badly out of shape.

yeah that'll straighten with care. ive done worse. thankfully the J split rims tend to be made out of really good quality alloy.

That doesn't look too bad to straighten at all. Just incase you haven't noticed there are 2 flat spots on that wheel.

I just warm steels up with a heat gun so they're not cold, then knock them back into shape. If you use a dolly behind you can get them pretty much perfect.

With the alloy, rub some soap on the top of the rim, then heat from below the dent. When the soap starts to turn black it is at the right temperature to knock back into shape Ive done this with numerous alloy items over the years and not had a problem yet
