hello all... I'm a new face to the scene, with a bit of a sad story I have just recently passed my driving test and was over the moon, as I was now able to drive my triumph dolomite 1500 HL which I had just spent the last year restoring and getting back one the road. ( here's the gutting part ) I was on the way home from work when going around a round-about and the back end swung out and spun me into a sign post.. only to wright off my car..... after this I am now gutted, I have a car that looks very poorly. so if anyone can give me some advice on what to do that would be great... I really don't want to see her go. but at the same time I have to be realistic.

Welcome Sorry that your first post is such a tale of woe . Did the insurance company get involved and write the car off, or is it just severely bent? How much damage is there? Some pics would help us deduce if it's salvageable or not

Good evening, Shame you broke your first car, but at least no one was hurt, were they? Now get back out there in an old rear wheel drive wreck and teach yourself how to control over steer by messing about somewhere open and prefferably private I think we've all done it ourselves but it must ache more as you'd put a year of yourself into it.

Harsh, i did a very similar thing on my way home from work with my first car (sunbeam imp). You learn very fast driving a rear wheel drive car as a learner driver! Mine was mostly due to driver imcompetence, and partly due to road conditions.
Welcome to the forum, i hope you get your fixed or into another retro car ASAP.
Main thing is your ok, cars can always be fixed!

Sorry to hear of your story . We had a 1500HL a couple of years ago called Brian. It was Beige. No one wanted it so I took the engine out and the council came round to take it away Anyway, while having a bent first car is obviously not much fun I'm sure you could find another Dolly for not a lot of money (Brian cost us £150) which might be less than it costs to repair yours depending on how bent it is.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Welcome! Hey that doesn't look so bad? Looks like you've already pulled out the bottom corner a bit by the pics? If the inner wing isn't bent, and the suspension hasn't taken too much of a whack, it should just be a wing, front panel and trim sort of repair, which isn't too bad at all! Does she still drive straight? Since you've put so much work into her already i'd be very tempted to get her sorted out again. Even if it costs you a few hundred and you don't think its economically viable to repair- i'd rather waste a couple of hundred quid than effectively a whole year of hard graft. Just my 2 euros worth

yeh I could do, but with me being only 17 and I have just left school I'm not going to have much time for her, which is a shame. but I certainly don't want to see her go to scrap. I might be able to get a doner car and see if I can sort the mess, I drove it back from where it happened, and the car seemed to be fine, but on closer inspection I'm pretty sure the whole wing has moved back. so any ideas anyone?

yo wilkommen.
that doesnt look too bad, just hit things with a hammer until things are solved, I'm sure beating it from behind will yeald some rewards. if not, just paint the damage in red oxide and claim its a "rat" 1500

If that was me I'd stick a couple of headlights in it and drive it like that! Not bad at all - I was imagining lamp-post shaped kinks in the sill or rear quarter or summat. Bit of hammering, pushing, pulling and painting and you'll be back on the road.

Hello! welcome aboard, I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice here on what to do with the car, looks fixable judging by the pics though!

Well, respect to you Sir for not getting a bling-mental-Corsa-3cylinder-innit with spinners. The damage really doesn't look too bad, had similar with my first car (HC Viva). Like BB says, I'd focus on getting some headlights back in and aligned (well enough to pass an MOT), cover any sharp edges and hit the streets once more. Have a go at straightening it, you'll only need some basic tools and primer. There must be some R-R'ers 'round your neck of the woods if you need any advice! Go on! Get out there! Do it now!

If you can find him and noone else can help maybe you can hire: PheonixC! ;D
Yeah so long as chassis etc hasn't moved too much body should be fixable. Anyone local who could check it out?
When i battered my Fiesta into a telegraph pole it was a case of the rust giving in, the roof taking a small impact, and knocking the wheel badly, wouldnt drive after, so in relation to that yours looks poss worth saving... fingers crossed - bigger and better...

I was in a similar situation when I destroyed the rear end of a new Corsa with the Benz (go me!) Street bashed out the worst of it, a replacement headlight lens and welded the bumper bracket back on and I was back in business! Here's a pic:
