Hello everyone, New to the forum, recommended by a fella from TheMiniforum. Whilst my Mini is getting a MG Metro engine installed I was given a Maestro van as a runabout. Regards, Kelvin

What a ace runabout!, I'd love to get my hands on that and take those awful wheel trims of and get some decent older style number plate son it!

That's brilliant! I'd be tempted to get the original British Telecom signwriting put on the sides.

That's real smart. I remember these pottering about with the British Telecom logos on the sides. I'm squinting at the dash- 71k? Must have sat about a whole lot inside to look like that... I thought these got to intergalactic mileage, fell apart and were scrapped.

WOW that's a survivor, i felt so old a few days ago when i was explaining that BT vans weren’t always grey ... That's rare survivor for sure, please keep it yellow! I don’t remember seeing one of these either..

Wowzers that looks immaculate! Very rare you see a Maestro of any persuasion in nick like that!
Has it had a fresh paintjob or is it all original?

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your feedback, I'm dead chuffed with it!
PhilA- It's just ticked over at 72k now, it's in need of a bit of a tune up, the previous owner had only covered 180 miles since it's last MOT - November 2010.
whitbytom- I have no idea if it's a fresh coat of paint, it's a slightly darker tint of yellow on the lower half though. It has a few bits of rust here and there, but it rides lovely (a LOT better than the Mini, haha)
Regards, Kelvin

Cheers petea!
I would really love some alloys on it, but I can't really find any cheap enough, trying to keep money saved for when the metro engine is in the Mini....

That looks ace mate, i love the maestro vans and i've had a few and i would like another one as a runabout, iirc in the day they were the bigest little van you could buy which from personal experience i would imagine was true, i used to do part worn tyres and i could get more tyres in the maestro than the escort or the astramax.

that van reminds me of when i was a lad, i lived near the bt depot, i used to be in the ATC (air training core) and while on a trip to an RAF Brize norton i was posted with the RAF Police, while out in a Police car going round the airfield the officer stopped the car and said we could wait here for a bit and watch a practice opp, what i could see was a VC10 that all of a sudden was surrounded by yellow BT van's i asked what was going on ? the officer said that i should watch and find out, i did and saw the doors of the van's burst open and the VC10 stormed ! we were not there very long before the radio went mad and we were told to get ourselfs back to the station in no uncertain turms! i asked who the guys were and he said it was the SAS training, i was a little shocked to say the least as a boy of 13 it was a sight to see, i always think of that day when i see an old BT Van cheers Rusty.
