	Just been reading a piece in this months Octane mag about John Dodds amazing aero engined car "The Beast" So after a quick google search I was surprised to find its still around and currently residing in Spain but still on the DVLA data base. It seems to have two incarnations,one as a coupe and one with a shooting break body,and some sights state it has a Rover Meteor engine like the PPC Rover SD1 but there is also suggestions it has at some stage had the more powerful Rolls Royce Merlin fitted(see pic). I have found some pictures and a You tube video of Top Gear with the irritating Steve Berry on it but I would love to know more about it and any other aero engined cars that are in use still,especially with the current fuel prices!!! Anyway enough waffle PICS--- Probably where these boys got there inspiration from-

	Love "The Beast" seem to remember a story about Rolls Royce forced him to remove the RR Grill from it under threat of a lawsuit, don't know how true that is. Try googling some info on "Brutus", another amazing bit of engineering.

	coupe was its original body destroyed in a fire then had the est body made/fitted , yes rolls royce did i beleave did actually go to court over the grille. theres allso a famous story of him upseting a super car owner (ferrari i think) on an autobahn in the 70's when he passed & accelerated away from him.
	theres more to life than mpg & to much power is just enough.

	I love these mental engined specials, "The Beast" is terribly ugly but it's so cool. Have another car with a BIG engine. Jay Leno's Blastolene Special (aka Tank Car), built by Randy Grubb it used a 800 bhp tank engine. Although according to wikipedia Leno has since owning it has had it converted to fuel injection and a twin turbo setup producing 1600 bhp ;D It uses an M47 Patton tank engine, which is an 29 litre all alloy V12. Love it! Randy Grubb with the car during the build.... The car as it is now......

	I remember seeing John Dodds in The Beast a couple of times at the Chelsea Cruise many years ago. It was hideously ugly and huge in everyway. BUT, when he started it up the ground literally shook! Why he never clothed it in a more asthetically pleasing body is a mystery though? Fantastic nonetheless!

	Just been looking at this-Mercedes Benz T80 Six wheel monster with a 44.5 litre V12 derived from the Messerschmitt Bf109 engine,nick named the "Blackbird" it was designed for land speed records but never used because of the outbreak of World War Two. 27ft long and 3000bhp built in 1939 and designed by a certain Dr Ferdinand Porsche.

That is truely epic, would love to have seen it in action. Pity the war prevented it from coming to fruition.
