You should be able to get a couple of cats from another vehicle to stick in after the turbos, you will need to modify the exhaust anyway so fitting them won't be much bother.
Do watch out when tuning the engine with the cats in there, they hate fuel on over-run, temperatures can spike to 1200 degrees C in a matter of seconds and destroy the cat and possibly the adjoining pipes too!
Cheers

I wouldn't worry too much about a turbo muting the sound of a Rover V8... ;D

Tell me more... I need to know details on this. I am planning a twin turbo RV8 into my MGB, its far simpler than a supercharger and cheaper too. The guys over on Mez.co.uk know an awful lot about forced induction on V8s. Its a good place to nose around and ask questions.

Sorry, I didn't hear it leave.
The install looked awesome though, very well put together and I would imagine, brutally powerful!

Well going by the fact that my lightly played with Chimp 400 leaves most passengers speachless and feels far quicker than much more powerful and significantly faster supercars due to how raw and visceral the whole driving experience is, I'd say that TT one is downright insane and probably terrfiying!
LOVE IT!
might have to do it..
Ok Turbo suggestions please!
I'm. thinking one big one would be easier as the exhausts naturally do a 2 into one at that point, a Holsett or similar 'may' be overkill, i'd rather have lowish boost and zero spool up time than big laggy huge power maybe one from a 3.0 supra? might not quite be enough?
The aim is 280+bhp 300 would be nice but i'm not a numbers junkie mid range punch is what I'm after, just to go out scaring all the Porsches and Maseratis round here!

I think that a holset would be just the job, HX35 looks pretty good for up to 280bhp, HX40 is good for 350bhp. Remember that the capacity guide lines given on the website are for dirty derv engines, so you can roughly halve the capacity (HX35 2.5 - 3.25L, HX40 3.5 - 5L)
Or Borg Warner, they do some nice strong turbos?

Always liked the install on this TVR: Toyed with the idea of doing something similar on the Celica!

I just 'like' superchargers though and the thought of dulling the exhaust note gives me cold sweats!.. From my experience the silencing effect of a turbo is a hit and miss thing and understandably linked to the engine/turbo rpm. In my case I found more exhaust evened things out, running with just the pipe off the turbo caused the volume to vary more. Obviously all induction roar was lost.

I would be careful picking a turbo of a hp target. Engine size is a factor too. With a target of 350hp some quick sums indicate the HX-40 may not a good choice. Too close to the choke line. To do this properly I would need to know the ve curve of the 4.0 v8 and then I can do some proper sums to determine airflow and the compressor you will really need.
Your hp target which has not been stated yet is absolutley essential. I fear otherwise you buy a turbo fit it with all the associated other parts and you end up with a hit and miss affair. I am not trying to shoot anyone down but and engine is an expensive thing and it is easy to destroy with the wrong turbo or kill the turbo system itself.

Confirmed. I have found a dyno plot for a 4.0 v8 and have determined the volumetric efficiency (I think). If my sums are right the HX-40 will not work at all. At 8.5 psi of boost the engine will want to push out 400 hp and the turbo will be at or more likely be beyond the choke line.
All the mitsubishi turbo's I have looked at are also out. Borg-warner turbo's also seem not to work unless more boost is used.
Garrett T-series turbo's would work well at this pressure ratio, e.g. T61, T64, T66, T68's look good. There will be others but take the time to do some maths to properly size your turbo.

from my holset experience the hx40 will be to much for your needs .
a good match would be a pair of t25 garrets from the b204 saab lump 94-98 .on the stock integral gate they make 5psi and would work really well on the rv8 .
for a quick fix and value for money how about a squirt of nitrous which you can always sell on if you get bored where as a home rigged turbo tvr may be a real pain to sell on . every time i see a home built turbo car for sale i think " bet hes getting rid before it bursts again "

why not get a super charger off a range rover sport basicaly the same engine Not the same engine at all, the Sport has more in common with the Jaguar V8..... Not saying that using the supercharger off of a Sport wouldnt be a good idea, but a turbo build would be more dooable home-brew than a supercharger build hence why I'm going that route with the Olds in my Land-Rover......boosted V8's make me happy ;D ;D
