OK... here's the thing.. Not satisfied with by far the fastest car I've ever owned, I'm looking to sqeeze more power from the 4.0 Rover in my TVR, another 100bhp and I really could show most supercars a thing or two.. I've already got a decent cam flowed heads shortened inlet trumpets, smooth bore intake, high flow AFM and remapped chip.. There is an off the peg supercharger kit for the Chimaera's and this is very well thought of amongst the TVR peeps only thing is I aint spending the 4k required to buy it! especially as 99% of the cost is blower, the rest being braketry pipework and an IC, which I can make for cheaps.. www.sc-power.co.uk/pages/SC-Power-superchargers.htmLooking around at various Mercs Jags and similar I'm not sure which secondhand blower would be the best for go for, the seemingly best choice would be the Ford Thunderbird SC 3.8 V6 Eaton style blower, similar capacity engine and chucks out about 12psi at 5k rpm The real problem of this is space and outlet and intake angles which are all wrong, the kits use a vortech style system to overcome this, but I haven’t seen anything suitable come up for sale for sensible money, though I am going to the states in a few months for a months mooching about so if stuff is cheaper there I may be able to snag something... Whaddaya think? here she is.. I know not very retro, but my P5b does that and it's the same engine effectively!

M112 comes on all sorted of things, pick one up for £200 on ebay, loads of pulley sizes, can change the snout length, and come on similar sized engines. Easy enough to mount.
What you going to do about the compression ratio?
Edit: And fueling the extra air?
Twin charging seems a bit silly to me, why not just put a smaller pulley on?
I'd run an intercooler too, eatons run pretty hot.

Morning, I love your car, and you sir must be loopy! As far as I can remember the engine in these is mounted quite far back? If so why not drive the blower off the crank like so - This way you retain the space above the engine, and can still gear the blower to your desired speed? For a source of blowers, mercs and jags both use eatons, and some of the larger newer mercs used lysholm screws, if you can get one of those, do, as they are miles more efficient. Cheers J

Nice looking TVR there! Could you use a Sprintex supercharger? (Assuming you could find one...!) They came both top and side mounted and were even offered as a very limited dealer option on TVR 400SEs by "Northern TVR Centre" in Barrow-in-Furness, says Wikipedia... You'll know this alrady 10mpg, but for everybody else, more here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVR_400SXI've yet to spin mine up in anger, but I do like these things. Don't come up for sale very often though... This might be a tad excessive....

Twin charging seems a bit silly to me, why not just put a smaller pulley on? Cos it's cool! And so you can say I've got a twin supercharged tvr Twin chargers can be better for packaging too. And never forget Coopers 3rd rule of everything, "more is always better" ;D

TBH, for £2.5k, you could stick in a massive engine, and have WAY more power than the lil Rover lump could ever muster

Yeah a Chevy LS3 (6.2L 430 bhp torque 424) lump should do the trick, cough cough then you could twin turbo that :-)

For a source of blowers, mercs and jags both use eatons, and some of the larger newer mercs used lysholm screws, if you can get one of those, do, as they are miles more efficient. Cheers J Erm yes only problem in TVR's is that's where the exhaust goes... I know I know it's just begging for a dirty great turbo there, perhaps I'll do that, i just 'like' superchargers though and the thought of dulling the exhaust note gives me cold sweats!.. *coughs Put a blower on the P5b ;D Never say never! though in all honesty tbh it may get a different larger pokier yank V8 but i doubt i'd blow it, Erm... how about NO! replace my lovely free revving lightweight all ally 230ish bhp RV8 with, nice as they are ,one of the heaviest engines known to man, not gonna happen plus I would almost NEVER swap a V8 for an I6 regardless! A decent charger super or turbo should see somewhere between 300/350bhp out of the 4.0 Rover if the guys on PH are anything to go by and seeing as all in a cimaera is about 1050kg dripping wet that should meake for some interesting performance.. Re the Sprintex and Rotrex suggestions, yup they are both damn good ideas it's just finding them for sale for sensible money, I'd like to keep the costs under a grand if at all possible with say a 3-400 contingency.. LS conversions have been done and are absolutely insane, I'd love it, my next project may well be finding a Cerbera 4.2 with a blown engine and doing just that but for this project here and now it's cheap thrills I'm after.. As for fueling you can buy a chip specifically for this setup or I'll just build up a megasquirt, I already have mallory ignition so this'll stay, CR in these is fine as long as you stick with sensible boost, i only run super unleaded anyway..

Why not save the bother of fabricating supercharger mounts and just use the whole Jag V8 XJR supercharged engine. ;D Just need to make up a few engine mounts, an adapter plate for the box and a bit of electronics

Yeah thanks for that, i'm pretty sure that car had a build thread over on PH and it's just scrummy, I bet it goes like hell...
did you get to hear it? i was wondering if the turbos would tone down the epic exhaust note much? if not i may well change direction as budget turbo builds are much cheaper than superchargers I'm finding..
The only problem is that main 2 into 1 where the turbos sit in that one is where the cat sits in a normal one and a cat will be needed come MOT time, because of the poor head design RV8's in my experience often have trouble come MOT time...
