I hate welding upside down in dark corners and getting showered with hot curse word!
I hate drilling out trim rivets that spin round and then welding up the holes!
Come on then, what are your pet hate jobs? Post 'em up!

Anything involving dirt!
Grinding or cutting out old rusty steel work, sparks everywhere, dust, having to wear a dust mask, ear protectors and goggles that steam up.
I also hate mechanicing on cars that I have not built including stock production cars. This also normally involves dirt because the cars are used every day.

I hate 99.3% of all auto jobs, owing to the fact that I am a ham-fisted technically-retarded muppet.

Paintwork / bodywork. I suck at it, and don't have the patience to get it just right. Jobs on other people's cars, especially stuff like brakes. If they crash and die it's my fault. Jobs that, half way through, you find you need a "special tool". Jobs involving Torx or hex bolts. They invariably round out. Working in the footwell of a car on something like throttle cable / wiring - you know, upside-down, back wrenched over the seat squab, steering wheel pressing into your chest, blood rushing into your head.... I agree with tonycocacola - chasing electrical gremlins is a royal PITA. Exhausts. Rust in the eye hurts!

Bodywork. Hate it, it's the only thing I leave to someone else.
Also hate doing CV's, transverse engined FWD car clutch changes, among other things.

a fair amount of things, but generally anything that involves lying on my back trapped under a car with little or no movement, whilst every bang of a hammer, turn of a spanner results in rust and dirt particles gracefully falling into my eye.

*Changing an old style paper element oil filter especially on a B series engined car where its inaccessably placed right over the front crossmember and then even once you've undone it you can't get it out either from top or bottom as the column change linkage is in the way and you have to end up dismantling the engine with oil dripping everywhere.
(*super-long sentence warning)
Putting gearbxoes in as even when there's easy access the curse word never lines up properly.
