Righto, I've owned this for about two months now and was brought off of this very forum. My intention was to drive this round until I had a new van sorted. After crunching some numbers I've come to the conclusion that can't afford the insurance and running of this car while my car transporter is off the road and I am going to have to sort a new carb for the Jetta as it is slowly dying
As the above says, it is a Rover 214si with the 1.4 16v multipoint injection K series engine. Yes, yes, these engine are a bit notorious for the head gaskets going, but this one has been sorted not too long ago and is running great. It is loosing a bit of water and oil, but this is due to the expansion cap being tempremental (common problem) and the rocker cover gasket weeping. I've been sticking a little water and oil in every other week and it's been fine. Has never gone any higher than just below the halfway on the tempreture guage.
Bodywork wise, it is in alright condition. The rear arches are a bit crispy and there are a few dinks and scratches here and there, but what do you expect for £250? Scrubs up pretty well and I've seen a lot newer cars that look a stack load worse. Has had a new back box and cat not too long ago and 2nd hand, but good shocks all round. Has standard steels with trims on and has really good condition tyres.
Inside, it has half leathers from a vi model, wood trim, leather steering wheel, golfball gearknob, manual windows, electric sunroof (that doesn't leak!), remote central locking and twin airbags (although the passanger one needs plugging in). It also has PAS but the belt snapped, so isn't working. There is a new belt present, but I haven't bothered fitting it as I don't mind it without. CD player is not included by the way. There is also a small hole in the drivers side door card as the car it was taken from had electric windows, one of the previous owners cut it in the wrong place for the manual window winder.
Here are some pictures.
I will leave it until Sunday night, if no one has brought it I will be sending the tax back, stripping it and weighing it in. Need to cancel the insurance ASAP.
If your interested or want to know more, just give me a shout
