I thought I'd split my photos from Monday's Thoresby Park show into a few otherwise its a bit mad. Here's the Ford stuff, as there seemed to be a LOT of Ford love there. Curious thoughts from the day: Sign at the entrance "abusive behaviour to staff will not be tolerated even from attendees in classic cars" which kinda made me sad. Then there were three "tracksuit wearing types" arguing they wanted their money back because they joined the queue thinking it was a boot sale... I give up. Anyway, some pretty photos of nice cars. Clean as whatsit. 24 valver I love a clean Mk2 Fibresports XX pack At least one of these is local to me. this is what mine should look like... Plenty of Capris anyway, including Norm-Porn One of only 2 Mk1s I saw there hard as nails The other was this facelift one. Note that my plasticrap wheel trim look is catching on... OMG Mk1 Escort in not-RS/AVO replica shocker. Mk3/4 'scorts seem to be having a renaissance. This one was Marmite, but I loved it. I think I have more pics of it. You've been Tango'd Ahgh, it burns. But I like it. Feels like the proper thing Like the wheel treatment here - whatzit? Now I left my Cadillac outside as I thought it was too modern. There was a "up to 2001" category in the show & shine. Loadsa Foci as well. The night-myopic look is in with Escorts, yo "acceptable in the 80s" - or not. Very period treatment though...

I sometimes wish escRot was half as clean as all of those cars...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Also they lost the V4 engines with the facelift didn't they? Or were all the MK1s V4? I forget. Its so long since they were common here.

Capri motor options are a completely separate encyclopedic exercise, but suffice to say, no, all Mk1 Capris were certainly not V4! You also have the Kent OHV, the Pinto, the Cologne V6, and the Essex V6 all fitted to pre- and post-facelifters.

Sure I knew the Essex V6 and the kent pushrod were fitted in (UK) Mk1s but was unsure when they changed the 2.0 option from a V4 to the Pinto.

In North America we never got any V4 Cappers. The Pinto landed here in Capris for the 1971 model year, and went thru the 1974 model year. I don't think the UK got Pinto'd Capris until the Mk2 debuted. Different strokes for different markets! We got Mk1 Cologne V6's, never got the Essex V6. The UK got Essex V6 Mk1's, but not any Cologne Mk1's. It's a mess, all shook up like Cherry Cola, Lola.

facelift mk1's in the uk had 1.6 ohc Yeah, I see Wiki on the Pinto shows that 1.6L Capri beginning in 1972 and also a 1.3L Pinto'd Capri beginning in 1972. How frickin' weird. No 2.0L version for you, but we got it here beginning in 1971. First 2.0L Capri for the UK appears to be intro'd with the Mk2 Capri, which was what I was thinking. The sub-2.0L size Pinto OHCs we never got in the States.

Not according to Wiki. Amend the Wiki if you wish or think it's incorrect. But before you do, Vizard's "HT Rebuild" book, dated 1979, shows 1-bbl jetting charts for early 1970's Capris and Cortinas with 1.3L Pintos. Whatever...

the 1300 ohc was used on the continent but the uk only used it in the mk1 sierra base & L 5 dr hatchback .all the 1300 cortina's & capri's where ohv kent crossflow powered.
haveing grown up/worked on these cars collected the litreature etc & not being a computer expert , not able to do links ,scans etc is clearly irrelevent, as you & wiki are never wrong.
but you should be able to find these even with my poor description haynes workshop manual number's
029 mk1 capri 1300/1600 OHV 338 MK2(&3)capri 1300 OHV
070 MK3 cortina 1300/1600 OHV 409 mk4(&5) cortina 1300 OHV
plus the ford uk brochures for the same period will give the same details.
with appologies to akku for the thread hijack.

1.3 ohc was only used in the uk mk1 sierra in 82 -86 & then very rare. SCC, but I *thought* you were saying the 1.3L OHC was only used in the UK, and in the Mk1 Sierra? I don't understand why you've chosen to get your nose bent. I didn't claim to be "right"! I was suggesting further inquiry. Because the 1.3L OHC was definitely used in the German and Italian market '70s Capris. So, I was trying to point out to you it had been used in cars other than the UK Mk1 Sierra. Not getting why that torqued you off so personally, man. Norm
