Thats cool to know, cheers man.
Hoping to make some more progress over the rest of bank holiday. Its going to be my first car and my dad is going to be helping with the work, if i fail my theory (ill retake it) he may use it or sell it, so I'm hoping for a pass so i can enjoy the beast.

Last night, i had lent a Hydra pump from the local mot station to pump up the rear suspension with the correct fluids, this is where we ran into a problem, the drivers side pipe was split so ive changed the pipe for a brand new peice and it is now perfect and holding the fluids!

Excellent news, that's one thing to cross off the "to do" list.

Good on you mate for rescuing this! I was studying the first picture so hard (thinking how it didn't look too bad) that when I hit Page Down to this I almost fell off backwards off my sofa! ;D What are the gutter rails like? My MK1 Metros are bad, I can almost lift the roof off! I've got a experienced welder to come and have a look this week. See here Best of luck with it mate !

The gutter rails have signs of bubbling but nothing like your picture. I need to upload my pictures of the inner wing we welded up and also the rear now its sitting on its own strength, just had to fit a new pipe and fill her back up with the correct fluids.

I have two brand new old stock wings but I'm keeping them for my cars. Apparently they're no longer produced any more?
I do have a front panel (brand new) that I'd sell though if you need it.

Cheers bryan, front panel is perfect, and there is a place on the eBay selling wings that are NOS but there £42.50 a wing. Here is a picture of the new pipe work on the one side of suspension;

I'm a big fan of metro's, this one's def' worth saving. My mate had a white GTA back in the day and I seem to remember it was a hoot to fling about. A definite improvement on the MG I had back in '88 (the interior wasn't quite a nice though), good luck with it ;D

You have a really rare little metro there, I would spend the time and effort to get it back on the road. I have owned a fair few metro's in the time I have been driving (when they were 10 a penny) including a grey 1989 1.3, a red 1993 1.1s (was way faster than a 1.4 fiesta), a 1992 blue 1.1c 4 speed and a very annoying 1992 GTi in grey that always over fueled right to the day I sold it! These cars are always great fun in the corners, really puts a smile on your face when you drive them. Hope you complete the project, there's not many of the early ones left now and it will give you loads more fun the the MK2 fiesta! I would have another metro at the drop of a hat if I didn't have the micra k10

I really want to keep it but the fiesta is only a 950cc and REALLY clean, not rot or rust to be seen on it, the metro has to be worth 200 quid ono (1275 engine) but i may be able to supply a new drivers wing for it in blue, if i can find a place to store it ill have them both.

Cannock, west midlands. I'm going to keep her and finish it because the fiesta is £1100 to insure and this is only £1597. I can tell you where the fiesta is and you can go buy it for £120, its a 957cc popular
