..and MG Midget 4-spoke Rostyles look suprisingly cool on a Marina! I thought Midgets were 4" PCD or do the Triumph engined ones havre Triumph pattern hubs too? (Marinas are 3.75") I can't think of any 3.75" cars that have Rostyles except those Vitesse wheeltrims...anyone? Yes you are right - the car I saw must have had 4 inch hubs on it off a Minor to make them fit (would be easily done, in theory), either that or I was wrong and they were 4.5 inch PCD 14 inch Rostyles off an MGB and the Marina was running van bits - marina vans had the 4.5 inch PCD for some reason. Heres a few period swaps to enjoy: Wolesley 6/110 on P5 Rostyles Dolomite Sprint - drastic surgery required to wear these sexy 2500S / Stag wheels, but I believe it runs a Stag V8 as well

Phil's V8 Sprint - Doesn't have the Stag engine anymore ( ) - It's having a 380BHP TVR AJP slotted into place as we speak. To fit the Stag alloys it needed Stag hubs on the front, a few spacers, Stag pins, and for the rear, I can't remember at all! Think they're re-drilled hubs. Really nice motor, it is

I'm looking into importing some, having contacts out there now means it is easier/cheaper ... thing is I don't know if it is financially viable to bring in a few sets of wheels and sell them on. There is a lot of talk of wanting these wheels, but when someone is staring down the barrel of £400-£500+ to actually own a set... I suspect they would be less forth coming.

Is that what kind of money it would cost? Admittedly thats quite a hefty chunk of dough to spend on one's J-tin.

Is that what kind of money it would cost? Admittedly thats quite a hefty chunk of dough to spend on one's J-tin. Pretty much,.. some would be cheaper of course but on average wheels of Yahoo Japan for £200-£300 add package and shipping you're already looking at £400+ .. add a bit extra for handling either end, and probably hideous ammounts of import duty. These two for example: Are £104 at the moment with 5 days to run on the auction. These four : Are £283 with 5 days to run. I notice their is a Rinkya bid on a set of Hiyashi streetfins that are currently on yahoo,.. probably destined for USA.

Is that £500 new or used? Mind, when you consider that yummy split-rims etc. START at about £500 here, it doesn't seem too steep. Even a half-way-decent set of 'multifit' jobbies from Halfrauds won't leave you with much change of a monkey. I think you should be able to sell them on fairly easily.

Is that £500 new or used? Used I think you should be able to sell them on fairly easily. Thats the question really,.. the VW scene and modern car scene both have people willing to spend real money on parts, to get the right bits. The J-scene has grown out of people wanting in-expensive cars. Potentially a set of average wheels + correct tyres could cost more than my car is worth! It will be the same for other people. However in the future I see the scene growing and it may well become a viable thing to do.

Hmm. Interesting. I'm sure there must be enough J-tat lovers out there who would be prepared to luzz out on some natty wheels? Although I will agree it's a big risk to take. Could you 'subsidise' anything that may be potentially risky by shipping more sale-able items at the same time (e.g. anything AE86 / Drift / Initial D / Daft & the Spurious style) that would be lapped up by the J-fashion conscious with a less 'retro' perspectie?
Have you consulted the Oracle @ Datman etc.?

Good excuse to repost this. Traditionally there hasn't been much money sloshing around in the J-car scene (outside of the Z cars), which for me has been a big attraction. I can't/don't wish to pay inflated prices just because something is the flavour of the moment. Arguably, the fact that a car has a cheap purchase price means you should have more money to spend on it afterwards, but as HoTWire says it's difficult to get your head around a set of wheels and tyres which cost more than the car. I've got leads on several sets for pre-CARS fitment which will all be under £100 (and I can't afford that until payday). They're still shiny and round, so difficult to justify £4-500 for the JDM stuff nice as it is.
