I've calmed down....
Right, LOTS of bangers only race the shell and engine of cars that we didn't save.....
LOTS of them sell loads of those hard to find spares at a reasonable rate to those of us who struggle to find them for our hard to find car...
Some cars are worth more in parts than as a whole, many bangers exploit that, one knackared one off the road, welded with gash looking iron and running gear that only needs to last one race... may potentially keep many more classics on the road..
But every "scene" has a bad apple or two, people DO steal cars, trick people into parting with them for curse word money, and then race them just to say they have...
I don't like them any more than the rest of you, but there are MANY good banger racers out there, some of which do US some real favours...
Breakers often "break" salvagable classics, but we don't mind that cos they help us out....
Well some news, MANY of the Banger racers do EXACTLY the same... they just race the shells rather than crush them..
Don't tar em all eh?

i must admit i thought banger racers used old MOT failures
This is usually the case. Like anything there is a minority who spoils it for the rest of them - football hooligans, religious people, forum users, animal liberationists and what ever is currently in vogue....! You have to put things in perspective sometimes. This happens and has been happening for years, there's a lot of positive action that has come out of this, and at least more people are aware of it.....

Those pictures are pretty hard to stomach. I was really hoping it ws the wrong car, but you can see the paint and its wearing one of the skyline wheels. I agree with Blownimp - there is just no point, its not even a sport.

Hi folks, I am a top secret stolen car spy and saw the Datsun in person at arlington last night and did my best to help the cops nab the crooks, I can 1 zillion percent unquesionably positively identify the car as the stolen one XPF as i personally took note of the VIN number surrepticiously whilst looking at the car in the pits and have confirmed this is the car. However, not wanting to be seen with the cops and be identified as an informant, only to subsequently have my kneecaps broken by some banger thugs , I could only point the cops in the general direction of the car and the really were being incompetent as they couldn't find the VIN NUMBER! It was going home time shorly after and The cops LEFT the people to leave with the car on their truck (H840 DBW Silver Ford Cargo) . Absolutely unbelieveable. They wouldn't even get another unit out to check it again, they just didn;t think it important enough. So now Rubble knows the cops are onto him, the evidence I would think has been destroyed by now don't you think? Hopefully he will get done for this or the Granada or both but even if nothing can been proven , he might think twice about using a stolen car if he knows people will be looking very carefully at future cars he brings to meetings. If only he could be shamed within the banger commuinity, but I'm worried that the percentage of honest banger folk to dishonest ones is not a high one, hopefully if the events organisers can adopt a policy of recording VIN numbers of every car that goes on the track and who is driving, and the lists get passed to the police every time, word would soon get round that getting any hot cars is just pointless . Proving ownership with V5 or otherwise is a non-starter but recording the (untampered) Vins is fairly easy. I hope the persons responsible for this despicable crimes get their just deserves ! If not via the law, then let a posse be formed from every corner of the world of car enthusiasts, and let it pay Mr Rubble and his crew a little visit one day. A few hundred folk should do it. If only they did transporter truck banger racing

Thanks for the post joebloggs, even though we're all on a rant at the moment it is noted that without your spotting skills this would have gone unproven. You are a hero, thank you on behalf of all classic car enthusiasts (especially those that, like me have a potential 'racer' on the drive). I'd like to think that the governing body/event organisers/track owners would have no choice but to ban Rubble from future racing in order to clear the sports name...we need to make this our goal.
Even after the Police's lack of confidence there are pictures, a tip-off, a VIN, and various other details about the driver and his other vehicles that must still be suitably incriminating.
I have reliable information that a well known motor-sport title will be running this as a story and I expect that others will also. It would seem logical that the banger racing community will have to act to clear their name and hopefully implement some guidelines that will stop this happening again.

Further to info, he has raced a lot of MK2 Granadas, at least one 80s Toyota CROWN and this - And you can play as him in Carmageddon 2, I suppose:

WHYYYYYY do they do this, i can honestly say that i am sickend by reading all this today. My heart goes out to you cibi. Can we not all go and do a rolling road block outside a banger venue one evening, after all thats what we do when we want cheaper fuel isnt it? And when we do that, it gets on the news!
