Whether the guy knew or not makes no difference. If you buy a stolen car, either to drive on the road or smash to bits on a track, IT'S NOT YOUR CAR. Receiving stolen goods is an offence. And pleading ignorance is no defence.

Right now words cannot describe how absolutely livid I am about this. i was there last night and i feel sorry for CiBi as it was a stunning car and i can not remember seeing one for years. i very much doubt the racer had anything to do with the car going missing. Of course racers can't do background checks on the rare and unusual cars they get to race with ?? Or maybe they don't want to, because that would get in the way of their sport ... hope your evenings enjoyment was worth the destruction of such a previous well kept and rare vehicle that someone so obviously cared about.

Set fire to their children tbqfh. *n PS: That post or may not have been sarcastic. I haven't decided yet. i don't think penski should be moaning about cars going missing when he makes remarks like this he seems like a scumbag. i was there last night and i feel sorry for CiBi as it was a stunning car and i can not remember seeing one for years. i very much doubt the racer had anything to do with the car going missing. Obviously you speak in defence of the banger racers. So come on, tell us what IS and CAN be done to stop theiving knuckle-dragging morons smashing up other peoples prized possesions. Why is there always this arguement that 'there is a small minority', but that minority is not excluded from, and continues to be welcome within the banger community. If racers fail to stop it, what do you expect our reaction to be? And, come off it, do you really think that someone coming across a mint car (or shell) like this for £50 and a case of meat pies WOULD NOT THINK 'THIS IS SLIGHTLY DODGY'? No, they just put their blinkers on and merrily smash up something that they shouldn't. Guilty as sin.

If he didnt nick it himself, the driver of that car is as guilty by 'turning a blind eye' as the scum who robbed it, and I personally hope he gets bird flu and dies. My blood is still boiling this morning. W***ERS

One other thing,.. "Rubble",.. the guy that raced the Datsun, was also the person that was rumoured to have stolen it, by an anonymous tip off I got about 3 months ago, but we didn't have enough evidence to back it up. Guess we have that evidence now though.

So you hadn't seen one for years? And there was a sticky'd threasd on here about the theft of CiBi's for months. And at no point did YOU think that there may have been a connection? At no point did YOU say 'hey, I haven't seen one of those for years... last I heard a blokes mint pride and joy one had been stolen...' therefore I put it to you that you have zero right to start getting chopsy about this. YOU might have acted to put right things. YOU could have helped improve the reputation of your 'sport' YOU could have helped to see the theif banged up. What did you do F*CK ALL! And you wonder why we classify banger racing as an incestuous, self-protecting clan of thick, ignorant theives, scumbags and genral sub-human life forms.

They are ALL, ALL OF THEM, guilty by association in my eyes.
The only thing that I, as a sickened enthusiast, can do is tar them all with the same brush and spread that opinion and justification for it as far and wide as I can. The worse their image becomes, the fewer people will go, they'll starve of gate receipts and ultimately it'll die. Or the "good guys" will realise and take steps to clean up their act.
That's INCREDIBLY naiieve and simplistic, I know, but I really am struggling to see what else I can do.

I have the RIGHT to say that because last night one of your mates knowingly smashed up a MINT, STOLEN RARE car.
Like I say, if those who are legit do nothing, then they are guilty by association.
It the turning a blind eye that is boiling everyone's p1ss.
Have YOU actively done anything about this today? Like contacted the authorities? Or those who organise this pathetic 'sport'?
I'll guess not, so I'll keep on slinging the tar for now.

I say that if these 'legit' banger boys really wanted to stamp this out, they could do it very easily with a few simple checks and procedures before each race. The fact is that its still going on, and must be surprisingly common if two cars known to this forum have copped it in 6 months. We are all just waiting for PC's granada to turn up on the track next. F*****g scum.

I've got to agree with all of the above - thievery is known and tolerated within the 'sport' and as such, all competitors are equally guilty.

wow - totally gutted.
like really.
it is infuriating that they stole a car and then raced it quite happily - especially a nice and rare car like that. I wonder where they kept the cars for 7 months? it also sickens me that this 'sport' appears to include driving round in your stolen mondeo finding some nice rare J-tin and then STEALING it. its not on. the Police i suspect will do very little...maybe go and see the traveller in his caravan and thats about it. Even if they do do anything, its all TOO LITTLE TOO LATE - the car has now been destroyed. i dare say that if someone not from the scene saw this they may wonder why we are getting so upset about a car. buts its similar to someone stealing a painting and selling it, or stealing pets. i don't think i'm making much sense because i'm still shocked at what has happened. totally amazing. its the whole idea of 'banger racing'...just racing and crashing into each other...there's no skill in that...and i cant see the attraction. i'm gonna have to go and take a walk outside now...i just hope this guy is found and JUSTICE is done!
interview, pics and FULL story in the next issue of Practical Classics would be quite a good idea if you ask me.

One thing we all could do is Google the alleged miscreant, banger racing and then hit the various forums linked in with the same message - sort your damned sport out or suffer the consequences. I know some banger racers and not all are bad, there are those complete moots though who will cock it all up for the majority and until the banger racing scene cures itself of these pillocks, they can all be tarred with the same brush and if they don't like it, the answer is in their own hands. Bastids.

OK, let's get on all the forums and ask everyone against banger racing STOLEN cars (if they buy a CROWN or a Roller etc. to race legitimately then that's up to them) to sign an online petition. We then take that petition to the police, the residents and the MP local to the track in question and demand something is done.
Banger racers will be more than welcome to sign up to the petition.

Unfortunately online petitions do sweet FA.
However, getting people to print out a letter, sign it and post it to an organiser would.
Sh!t me....Is that it, bollo'?
