Blimey, that's a bit shocking. Better the farm detritus hit and bounce rather than hit and penetrate, though.
Hope they get it sorted soon though, tis a swish old bus.

Better the farm detritus hit and bounce rather than hit and penetrate, though. Well, quite. My dad was really quite astonished that an eight-foot steel tailgate from a cow trailer could just bounce off the windscreen like that. Unfortunately the bonnet is borked and DS wings are like hen's teeth (although that was the rusty wing, so that part at least could be a blessing in disguise). And the mechanism for swivelling the headlights has collapsed, so the poor love's all boss-eyed. But like he says, it's just a thing. No-one was hurt, that's all that matters. Hope they get it sorted soon though, tis a swish old bus. Swish indeed - see, it even matches their shutters!

Merde! Glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been though. Presumably it can be fixed on the trailer owner's insurance? But like he says, it's just a thing. No-one was hurt, that's all that matters. That's the best outlook to have! Hope it gets sorted. Lovely car.

Presumably it can be fixed on the trailer owner's insurance? Thankfully yes. A lot of farmers around where they live don't bother with insurance - they were lucky enough to get smacked by an honest one...!

Yay Like you said, a lot of farmers (not just in France either) would just have driven on and left you to mop up.

Whereabouts are they? I have a good friend, very well versed in Citroens (he owns loads- all restored) near Alencon, Basse Mornadie. he can probably get the bits- and his bodywork man is an absolute star.
PM if its close enough

Ah, thanks fella but they're down near Albi in the south. Still, if they can't get a wing or bonnet and your man can find one then that could be the ticket. I'll see how they get on... Cheers ;D

Thats a sad sight but glad the people were fine. Metal and glass should be fixable.

gutting but as said at least they walked away from it unscathed!! Did have a little chuckle at the garlic and baguettes comment though. ;D Surprised the farmer wasn't on strike!

Not nice. Glad they are ok though... We gave all our parts away when the DS went.. Otherwise i would of had a screen here id happily have donated... At least its pretty localised damage. Screens an easy fix. wing is off pretty easy (appart from the headlight mech) and the bonnet is pretty easy too. Its just sourcing good parts thats the curse word...

Nice one. Looks as good as new. Fixed with new panels, or a genius panelbeater?

Genius panelbeater - who insisted on cutting all the rust out and letting in fresh metal, then sprucing up the headlight inners, then doing the other wing/headlight so that they match, then spraying the roof, then cutting the rust out of the doors... big job, in the end.

That is a nice job and beautiful colour as well.
Did your old dears have to pay extra for the added work or was it all worked in with the insurance work?.
