Recently I've become more and more interested in tiny customs. We're talking 1980s Ford Fiesta and smaller territory, and able to seat 2-4 people very snugly. It's not the sort of thing you'd expect people to do a lot to, and yet they are. This post was triggered by Rice Fink, a Subaru 360 that's a ball of crazy. Just how I like things really. Forgive me for posting this 2006 model, but it has a certain amount of Retro styling charm with the ungainly boxiness and came up under a search for Rice Fink. This one is a pearoast. It's difficult to appreciate just how tiny this little van is until you see people with it. Was surprised to find even more Subaru 360 customs. For sale too, if you've got nearly $10,000: www.collectorcarsforsale.com/120680590744-other-makes-1969-subaru-360-sambar-van-hot-rod-custom/detailse.htmlNot really sure what this is beyond it being Japanese. Thanks for this Ratdat, a Honda TN-7 according to your post: www.ratdat.com/?cat=8Austin Ruby (I think). Fiat Topolino, but not like any I've seen before. This is quite possibly a pearoast too, an insane Vespa 400. I've never seen this one before. In fact, this is the first 6-wheeled Mini tow truck I've ever seen. I wonder what else is hiding out there?

That green late model thing is pretty sweet apart from the bonnet.
I also had a feeling that the Austin 7 was an early incarnation of Rubelion.

With those alloy Speedex wheels The Austin 7 based car also looks a little like the 'Forrest' Formula 750 of the late 50s/early 60s. Not 100% sure it is, 'Forrest' had a dramatic roof chop and a split front axle. Possibly an earlier incarnation? There is lots of info on 'Forrest' in Allan Staniforth's Race and Rally Car Source Book.
Hopefully this isn't too much of a thread diversion.
Crackin' site btw. I'm so inspired I'm off to polish some alloys.

The biggest bit of win on that tiny fairground car has to be the last picture, with the driver squashed inside and the key in the back, I hope the key turned as he drove along!

I've loved that Ruby since I first saw the pics on here. Is it Rubellion? I've been searching for the bits to do exactly the same again. i could never find any more pictures of it, so I thought I'd make one. Only ever found ONE PAIR of the Speedex wheels, on ebay, stopped bidding after they topped £150, needing work. Bid on a ford-powered butchered ruby chassis recently too but that passed a grand reserve not met and it was a dog lol. Still, one day.
