Evening chaps!
Some of you may remember that I put up some info a couple of months ago about my dad's 1984 Citroen Visa 14TRS here (which is now mine BTW. )
Now, I've also got another Visa that is in completely opposite condition to the 14TRS - a good way to describe them are beauty and the beast, as that's a good way to describe their condition!
My other Visa is a 1983 Special, that has the 652cc Twinpot engine, that makes the noise that only a twinpot makes. It was first spotted for sale for £150 on Loot, and someone posted it up on the Visa forum. Weeks passed and no one bought it - a couple of people enquired but it had apparently been hand painted all over which put many a person off, as you would expect. The owner contacted the Visa-man and offered it Free to a good home - I didn't need any more encouragement so I got it picked up by a friend with a transporter (bear in mind the owner didn't have any pics of it!)
Well.
The condition is absolutely terrible, but it's so bad that it's funny! Now, my dad has been in the car trade for 30 years and he said it's THE worst condition car he's ever seen. It's been painted in what appears to be Dulux (!), and the previous owner was definitely a fan of DIY! He is a lovely chap though, and extremmely generous and helpful - he'd actually owned it for 24 years!
It came brimming with spares which is always a bonus.
It doesn't currently have an MOT, but amazingly when it was last put in for an MOT (couple of months ago), it only failed on a couple of bulbs and the brakes needing adjusting!
Here's some of the DIY areas that I have found - you see more each time you look!
-Pollyfilla'd rear wing
-Household Light Switch
-Wires straight through airvent
-Rear indicator self tappered on
-Yellow Sills
-One Plastic window
-Mk1 Visa bootlid
-Silicone Sealed Mirror Glass, Rear View Mirror and Bonnet trim.
-Love and Peace Stickers.
I could go on but please have a look at the pictures. Having spoken to many people about it (after them having a good at it!), everyone says that I should make it worse - and that's what I'm going to do! I'm going to make it much more visually shocking, and it will attend the Citroen Car Club shows and if there was a shed of a show prize, I'd say it would win!
My favourite part of the bodywork has to be the rear wing though that appears to consist of pollyfiller, and a necessary modification to the rear light to allow for the right hand side to be "self tappered" onto the wing.
Moving onto the interior:
...the seats are very worn - but I have a plan for those!
The eagle-eyed of you would have spotted a house-hold light switch just below the dash...you guessed it - it controlls the lights due to a broken satellite pod! -lol-
The Special came with loads of spares though:
As the seats were absolutely terrible, and there was a possibilty that you fell through them everytime you sat in them (!), I fitted some seats from a Series 1 CX GTi Turbo
...to end, here's a pic from when I had a play in photoshop!
Go on, have a laugh!
