Other than the usual little things you would not blink at on a used motor like for instance the engine mount being gone and the Aircon not working (even though you said it was) driveshaft clicking it's tits off, these are all used car things you expect. Likewise the window issue, even the faulty ignition switch which either leaves the starter running or plunges you in to darkness on the motorway or country roads.... Starting to see yet. The diesel leak that has made my drive look like the Exxon Valdez has passed by. The interesting history behind the 50 million trim bits included (looks from the fact the airbag one fell off like it's had an airbag deployment) and the odd front wing situation. All these things are standard cheap used car territory. The fact there is something causing a serious lack of power, most likely a bad boost leak, well that's on me. I drove it and put it down to it being stood a while maybe, maybe it's just been a while since I drove one. No as I can now say hand on heart one of these should not struggle to get up little hills in a town causing you to stall it multiple times as there's no power below 2k. So your thinking that's why I'm p***ed off. Your wrong. Cambelt changed recently...... My . Not only is the cambelt not recently changed nor are the tensioners and the fuel pump belt looks like it has been on there since the engine was made...... Note I say engine was made and not car was made...... Yes that's right it may have been nice if the seller had mentioned they had fitted another engine when (and I quote here from one of their old posts on RR that I found) "the camshaft snapped like a twix". It would have been even nicer if the seller had replaced the engine with the correct one. Not the 115 version. So yeah it's not a 140 as claimed it's a 115 now. Awesome.

Well as the buyer of the car all I can say is anyone else thinking of it has dodged a bullet.
Feeling more than a little sore right now to be perfectly honest having been told blatant lies by the sellers.

Thanks Mike I'll be sad to see it go, if I had endless space and money there is no way this one would leave.

Hi Matt, I've been looking for a b5 a4, but I had a Passat saloon the same as this and am looking for an estate so I guess this would do the job just as well.
Is it possible to have a telephone no I could call you on tomorrow so we could talk about it please?

Ah pity needs to ideally be the 110.
The right one will come along, thankfully not in any mad rush.

I'm after something very specific I'm afraid.
I'm looking for a 90/110 hp (basically the non pd engine) Audi A4 Avant 1.9tdi.
Don't much care what colour it is.
It does need to be manual, Avant and TDI. I'm not interested in saloons or petrols, or later models.
In an ideal world one that's been reasonably looked after and has a decent spec to it.
I have cash or have a nice low mileage Peugeot 306 xsi warm hatch to trade. But I have no issues selling that separately. Likewise I restore classic cars and can swap work for car, but again cash is here and if the cars right I'll buy it.
I don't mind cars with a few issues. I don't mind cars that have some cosmetic issues either, I don't even mind cars with high mileage if it's been well cared for. I'm.very flexible but by the same token I'm not looking for a £300 snotter. I want another TDI again and need an estate for dogs etc. I would consider a Passat TDI (b5 again, not b5.5 as the engines changed) estate as our old one was great but we don't need a car quite that big and the A4 is slightly smaller.
Drop me a pm. Based in Yorkshire but will happily travel for the right car.

Does anyone have a set of the lightweight 15" steel style wheels fitted to Citroen c5s?

Quite tempted with this. It's A hell of a drive but would be worth it.
How flexible would you be on the track time? I'm a bit torn on car, have an MX5 that would be fun on both sprint and autosolo but would rather come in corvette which is 4 years too new. But it's as loud and offensive as Donald's farts after half a dozen Macdonald's.

Can someone up north buy this please. It seems to change hands every couple of years (I saw it last time and wanted it then) but can never face the drive down to Bristol.
So if someone could adopt it for a couple of years and be relatively local to me then move it on again that would be awfully convenient!

It is UK registered. I think the reg is visible in the pics.
It comes with a manual box and all items needed and the 5.7 engine. There was only ever one engine, I've got rid of all the automatic bits.
The car currently (although I could in an hour or so put it back in for transport) has the engine and box out as I was intending to respray it. However the interior is still in.
As a guide of some of the nice bits with the car, there is a fairly new looking exhaust and short headers, you will probably not use the exhaust as you may choose to go the same road as I intended to with twin pipes. There are also 2 sets of wheels, a set of standard z28 wheels it's rolling on and a mint set of later wheels off an iroc at a guess that will look fantastic on. There's a single or dual plane manifold (choice of either or both with negotiation) from memory an air gap rpm and weiand. A 600 double pumper, a nice Mallory dizzy.

Yes it's genuinely a good project. If they didn't want to respray it someone could realistically end up with it more or less done in a few weekends of hard graft. It helps it's not rotten as most are.

I used to fairly consistently get a real world 60ish out of my Passat. Sometime over sometimes a touch under but it was hard work to get it down under 55. I can't imagine an A4 TDI will be thirstier?

Tidyness isn't the end of the world I can work through bits and bobs as I don't need to rush it on to the road. What's the mpg like? I'm assuming it's nowhere near 60ish which is where I'm aiming for.
Really I should just hunt out the best b5 passat estate 1.9tdi I can find. But it was such a boring car I really want something slightly different.

Sadly so mate. Its not just luggage space I need but ability to carry awkward shapes too, I regularly carry large odd shaped things like body panels.
Thanks anyway though! The wait wouldn't have been an issue either as I'm managing at the moment, it's just something I want to get sorted eventually. So if a car comes up next week or in October it's not the end of the world

I've been flitting around between boring daily cars for a while now and the perfect car just doesn't seem exist, I've got a jeep for off road and towing duties but it's thirsty enough that driving a long way can be uncomfortable on the wallet, by the same token though I've managed to reduce mileage down a lot but I do find myself missing the days of saying yes to parts that were a long way away because I had a 60mpg Passat diesel to go and fetch them in.
So I'm looking for for something to run along side the Jeep. It needs to be diesel, I've got no interest in an lpg equipped petrol unless the tank is underslung (which won't be possible on any car I'd want) as I value the bootspace or spare wheel.
I also want to be able to use veg oil as a backup, the Passat ran fantastically on it it's frustrating the Jeep won't. So old fashioned diesels.
Has to be an estate. The Passat went as it was a saloon. Did everything I needed (including fetching a tvr chassis on the roof) but I need an estate.
Ideal choices are an Audi A4/a6/Passat b5 estate 1.9tdi. Has to be the 1.9 and the old fashioned TDI not the pd. I'm not a huge fan of Octavia's but might consider one that was special for the money.
I'll consider another 405 diesel, ideally already with the Bosch pump.
In my heart I want a Bmw or Mercedes, but they just won't provide the mpg I need sadly.
I'd be particularly interested in cars with a bit of spec, ideally like cruise, leather, sunroofs etc. Aircon isn't essential I'd rather not have it than have it there and not working, I'll fit my own stereo and car kit anyway so no issues there.
Not too bothered about mileage as long as the cars been well maintained, if it's got 500k on it but the mechanicals have all been refreshed in the last 100k I'd still be interested.
I'd be much more interested in a totally standard original well loved "old man car" than one that's been slammed to the floor and has a destroyed floorpan and needs new suspension etc.
What's out there. Budget is flexible.
