Unfortunately life and wibblepoo has dictated that my poor old Punto has to go, I had hoped to start to fix it up after a head gasket failure but alas it's not been meant to be. This is a very rare factory manual 6-speed... yes you heard right a 6 speed manual in 1994 mated to the 1108 cc Fire engine. This is only one of 5 Punto EL 6 speeds left in the UK, the car being an early one is a non immobilizer car so no red key to worry about. I'll be honest this car is a project, it needs work so isn't something that you can drive away I'm afraid. It does come with a replacement engine with only 40,000 on the clock, so a weekends work would see this little Fiat running without a James Bond smoke screen behind it! The other issue with the car is I suspect the heater matrix is leaking, some welding needed in the drivers rear wheel arch and drivers floor to sill area. The bracket for the fuel filler neck inside the drivers rear arch has rotted away an gone AWOL. Fuel filler neck was replaced with a brand new part as it had started to leak, which was all the way from Italy and you can't buy it from Fiat no more was not cheap I tell thee! Whilst it's been sat the last two years the rear axle has gone very rusty, so needs rubbing down or a shot blasting and powder coating and the rear bumper bracket to the floor are looking rather crusty. The back box rubber broke, so it's re-attached for now, but a new rubber is on there in a fashion so keep it from hitting the deck. The wheels are a miss match of alloys and steel wheels at the moment to keep it rolling, I have all the original steel wheels and one is on the car along with the original space saver. The other three wheels minus tyres and the correct bolts come with it, and I'll include some Fiat wheel trims as well but the original style ones are long since gone alas. The car needs paint work roof was rattle caned by a previous owner which I attempted to improve slightly, it looks okay but the car has lacquer peel all over so needs a respray at some point. I do have a stack of paperwork for this car from the pervious owners which I think I am the third or fourth, and all the bills, receipts and what not during my ownership as well as a current V5 in my name. Appreciate this is a project and is only going to appeal to a few people, but if I didn't need the money and to stop paying storage on it I would try and keep it but sadly I have no choice. I really want it to go to someone who can get this car back on the road, as it's not beyond redemption it just needs the right person to do all the things I can't or can't afford to do. Please don't buy it if you think you might do it, I want some one who will do it as I'd love to see it done and back on the road as it'd make a great car for the festival of exceptional etc.. I need about £450 as I need to get some repairs done on my daily car, but might be able to have a little bit of wiggle room if it's going to a good home and this price includes the replacement engine for the car.

I've been having hassle with it idling well, tried adjusting the throttle cable. An resetting the idle control valve, as per the Fiat manual. It drives fine, just from cold it's very shuddery. An will cut out at idle, until the engine is upto temp. Though sometimes it'll try to stall even at temp, an then throws on the battery light an oil pressure light. Even though the oil pressure switch was replaced, it might be timing. A dodgy new idle control valve, maybe the throttle cable has stretched. Which I do have a new one, but to be honest I'm tired of messing about with it. An paying storage fee costs, my mojo on this one is gone unfortunately. So if anyone wants the car as is, I'll do it £1,000 no offers. With all the bits an pieces, Otherwise I'll list it on eBay this coming week, with a reserve.

I've reluctantly decided to part with my 1993 Fiat Uno 1.1 i.E S. ( 5 speed manual ) , since I have been made redundant an now need to give up my garage where I store it. After having a lot of time, effort, parts, an money spent on the car. It's covered a genuine 38,000 miles ftom new, with only one previous lady owner from new before me. Whom christened the car "Alex", as he's affectionately known. Finished in the rare colour of New Zealand blue, I've recently put the car through an Mot. Which is valid until 31st January 2022, this car is in good shape for the age. With a lot of previous bills and receipts over the years, there are two keys. Full Fiat book pack, and I've even got a period Fiat brouchure for this car too! The car has electric front windows which was an option on this model, and an original factory fit Grundig radio cassette. With front and rear speakers, plus a split fold rear seat in case you make that accidental IKEA purchase! Also has the interior tailgate release lever, and a full size spare wheel with a complete tool kit. Sills, doors, wheel arches, floor etc... are rot free, which is rare to find on a car of this age. Please see the photos, it's paintwork is in remarkably good condition. There are of course some minor chips, scratches, paint touch ups, door dings etc.. that you would expect for a 26 year old car. The passenger front wing and bonnet has some minor lacquer peel, and there's a minor dent in bonnet which is hard to see on the photos. There is also a small crack in the front bumper, and in the grill. However there is a brand new bonnet, grill, and front bumper available with the car for the full asking price. Or by separate negotiations, if the price is less. So please bare this in mind, but it's by no means tatty either if you wanted to use the car as it is. The car did fail it's Mot about three years ago, so I had set about sorcing all the parts in my spare time. I've spent around £2,000 in total on parts and repairs, to get this little Fiat back on the road. It's had a brand new front subframe, which was powder coated and rust proofed. The rear suspension turrets, were cut out and replaced with new panels. Stone chipped inside the arches, an then repainted in the correct body colour inside an out. New front and rear shocks absorbers, and top mounts were fitted. The original coil springs, were shotblasted and powder coated in black. New front wishbones, and a full service. Including oil, oil filter, rocker cover gasket. Ignition leads, spark plugs, coolant was also changed as it was due. It's also had a new idle control valve, oil pressure switch, and coolant temp switch to keep things running sweetly. It's also had a brand new LUK clutch kit fitted, when I first bought the car as the original was shot! Ah it has done a couple of thousand miles at best, so no worries there either. The only issue is the interior heater is a bit intermittent, sometimes it'll work on the first speed or the other two speeds but not very well. Or not on the higher speeds, or not at all. I replaced the heater motor resistor with a genuine Fiat part, but this made little difference. I'm told this is down to the connector plug on the heater motor, however it could be the heater motor is faulty which can easily be found on eBay. This car has all the major work done, and whoever buys this Uno will not have to do much to get it upto A1 condition. It's rare to find such a low mileage one, especially in this colour and with the 1.1 engine. It's a very reluctant sale, but as I've been made redundant I need to sell my little Uno. As stated price is £1450 o.v.n.o, not looking for a part ex or swaps thanks. The car is located 10 minutes from j11, off the M42 on the Derbyshire / Leicestershire border. Yeah I know where you're coming from with bodywork. I have some terrible lacquer peel on mine, I keep umming and arring about having a go myself but I dunno if I'm confident enough to try it. Tom[/quote] I watched lots of videos on YouTube, before hand. Just to see what techniques people use, that definitely helped. An what was the right stuff, to use to for the job. Oh an lots of patience! I've got terrible lacquer peel on my Punto that I have. So hopefully I'll do that myself, just got to get the thing running right. And Mot'd first, so that'll keep me busy.

Great work on the touch ups! Its great to see someone have a car for so long and still get out and hammer it. Tom Cheers appreciate that, as paintwork is something I'm not confident at doing usually. It's the longest I've owned a car, an really enjoy having it around.

Finally managed to get the mirror sorted, had a pattern mirror. That I had on another Uno, so I switched it for the one I'd put on temporarily. An this one does come apart, so the same as before... Remove the screw, and bolt to separate the the mirror head from the casing. Drive out the retaining pin, that holds the adjuster lever cables. To the casing, and carefully stab my finger in the process! Oooooohhhwww.... which left me with this. After the swearing I continued, it was a bit of trial and error. Mixing and matching the parts from the old mirror, with new. But after 30 minutes, I had the mirror reassembled. Feeling pleased, I celebrated with a beer. And then used some left over paint, to touch up the scratches. And improve the paint touch ups, that the mirrors had for a while. The next day, I went to my lock up to refit the mirror. To remove the mirror, you have to prise off the rubber adjuster knob cover. Then carefully undo the securing screw, using a flat screwdriver inside one of the slots. Clearly the mirror had been hit hard at some point, as the area behind its mounting on the door. Is slightly dented, and I guess this fractured the casing. Which eventually just snapped, an the rest is history. I've popped the mirror on for now, but will tweak the metal back. Treat the rust, and paint that later this week. Anyway here's the mirror on the car, not too bad for now. Although the touch up effort, isn't great. Someone had been there before me, with that wretched gold paint. That the car had been touched in with, by the previous owner when I bought it. I want to repaint the mirrors eventually, but will get that done professionally with the replacement grill. And front bumper, as there currently in my dads spare room getting dusty. Sorry dad... Anyway after all that effort, theres a mirror the same colour. For sale on eBay, I mean c'mon.. what are the chances? About right for my luck.. I did save myself £40 though. Every cloud an all that, although I'm still tempted to buy it. You know just in case, I mean hoarding spares is all part of retro car ownership right? Anyway, not sure which job I'll be tackling next on the Uno. It's a long list, but we're getting there slowly.

Hopefully you can find a fix for those plastic bits, I always dread removing any plastic trim for this reason! Anyway the amount of effort, that you've put into it so far is amazing. Nice to see a 80s classic, being saved

Managed to find the missing decal from the boot. It claims to be an original item, although doesn't look like an exact match to me. Not sure I'm that bothered, at least I have managed to reinstate its 'Bonus' status. On that note, I've been trying to find more info on the different specs of fiestas at this time, but can't really find much. Just wondered what 'Bonus' means, and how this might be different from a 'Popular' or even 'Popular Plus'. I'd see if you can find an old Fiesta brochure online, that should hopefully give you all the specifications for each model. I got a brouchure off eBay for my Fiat Uno, for only a couple of quid. Like the alloys on your Fiesta by the way, when I used to share a N reg 1.3 mk3 Fracatti with my ex years ago. I always wanted a set of those! ours was similar to this one below. An on that, the only differences over the base models. Was fancy wheel trims, rear wash wipe. Sunroof, metallic paint. Electric windows, and central locking. Pretty swish, until the electric windows packed up, cost me a fair bit to fix those

You could repsray the lower bumper yourself, a can of satin black should match the top half. Or colour code the lower bumper instead? cheap and easy to do yourself. I think some mesh, could be a good alternative to fog lights. But measure up the holes, see what size they are. Then look online, for fog lights you like. You can find aftermarket ones from about £15 upwards, new and used on eBay. Or see, what's in the parts section on RR too.
If I can find my old fast car/ max power mags, I'll see if I can find any bumpers that look like yours.

Ran into a slight issue with my Punto, a couple of months back. On the day of the Mot typically, just to be awkward... A large trail of white smoke, started billowing out from the exhaust. Hmmmm.. not good, so had to cancel the Mot. As there was no way the car will pass, if its doing that! Plus the temp gauge, was going through the roof. So I wisely, decided not to risk driving it. Anyway a week later, I decided to investigate after work. Borrowed a tester off my friend, to check if the head gasket had gone. Sure enough, yellow does not mean mellow unfortunately. It means £££ and some faces, well just my sad face really. I'm at a bit of cross roads with this one, since the other Mk1 Punto I have. Has been going great, in the time I've had it. An touch wood seems decent mechanically, and on the bodywork and interior etc... I'm in no great rush to decide on anything final, an I'm not one to let cars go to scrap. Although like anyone, I only have a certain amount to spend on my hobby. This is a rare model being the 6-Speed, an doubt I'd find another one in the UK anytime soon. Possibly a slightly bigger engine, could match up to my gearbox. A 1.2 mk1 75 engine, or a 1.2 16v sporting could be a possible easy swap. Anyway it'll be on the backburner for now, until I make a decision at a later date. In the meantime, I'll be getting some jobs done on my other mk1 Punto. So I'll post up, once they are done and start a thread on it In other news, my trusty but rusty Focus has been receiving a bit of a makeover. Over the last 6 months, I changed the alloy wheels for some slightly more stylish ones. A bit of OEM upgrading, which looks a lot nicer than the standard alloys I think. Replaced all the rusty doors, so the car has been upgraded to a Zetec from a LX! And the rusty passenger sill, has had the grot cut out. And painted, and the wheel arches got tidied up too. Which was done, by a local bodyshop. An the finishing touch new number plates, and a set of clear side repeaters. Which I got from a scrapped Focus, for a couple of quid. Really pleased with the transformation, as the poor old Ford was looking a bit sorry for itself. To be fair, it's on 181,000 miles so cant moan.

Its been a long while since I posted any updates on my Uno, in fact the best part of nearly 6 years... Where does the time go hey? anyway what's been going on with it. Well its looking a bit dirty here! but I've just been enjoying using it in honesty. Getting out to car shows, an a bit of use to commute to work. But for the last couple of years, I've been using it very sparingly. Oh, you might notice I went back to the Amber indicators. And standard rear lights, as I fancied a change. With recent world events, I had some unexpected time to spend on my Uno. As you can see the drivers door was looking rusty and scruffy, I already had the spray paint cans on the shelf. So thought I'd get stuck in, and give it a go myself. I spent 4 days over the Easter weekend, since the weather was good for a change. Sanding, filling, priming, more sanding and primer. Before I got something reasonable, to go over with the metallic paint. I did lacquer it after the final top coat, and then flattened it down a few days later once the paint was hardened. With 2000 grit, before going over it with a cutting compound and a cheap paint buffer that we have. Here's the finished results, pretty good I thought. don't get me wrong it was tedious, and is not 100% perfect by any means. But considering I did this outside, on my drive with spray cans. I'm pretty happy, with how it turned out. It's only a temporary, until I'm able to get the replacement door and hinges sprayed up. And other bits of the bodywork done at long last, since I have a collection of body panels etc.. All ready to go on, hopefully I can find someone good to do the work. As I want a top notch job, since the Uno is for keeps. Anyway with a wash and polish, the little Uno is looking respectable once more. Well until I was moving the car after this photo, I adjusted the passenger mirror. And it just flopped to the side ( oooohhh err ) , and was practically hanging off the car. I removed it, to find the casting inside had snapped inside. Luckily this mirror can be dismantled, so you can swap the casing. By pushing out this pin, with screw driver to release the casing and adjuster. I have a spare mirror from a mk2, but turns out these cant be taken apart. So for now the Uno has to wear a mismatched mirror, until I can get the correct one. In other news, a while ago I managed to find 5 of these alloys. Which I'll eventually put on my Uno, to give the car a bit of new look. In a weird twist of fate, well over 10 years ago my brother sold these exact same alloys to a bloke. To put on a mk1 Uno Turbo, I seen these on Facebook Marketplace. And I remembered how good they looked on his mk1, couldn't believe it when it was the same bloke selling them. Unfortunately he didn't still have the Uno Turbo to sell, not that I need another car anyway. They need new centre caps, and one needs a refurb to make them nice. So I'm on the look out, for a set of Speedline wheel centres to fit. But that's it at the moment, hopefully I'll try an update more often than nearly 6 years next time

Still surprised they may have been made in Australia since I think the only Fiats imported/sold here at the time were trucks! It's really odd, as you say I don't think these Puntos where ever sold in Australia. Maybe there's a company there, who makes them for lots of different car manufacturers. As I know the ones I bought for my brothers Vauxhall Cavalier, years ago were also made in Australia. But I can understand that, since the Vauxhall Cavalier / Opel Vectra was sold as the Holden Vectra. I'll dig out the packaging, if I can find it among all the spare parts in my garage!

Hi Pabblo, I'm curious about your Puntos, both of them have Fiat headlamp protectors. I'm Italian, in Italy them are not available as optional, where you got it? I'm interested of buy a pair of them for my Punto GT. Thanks Hi I tried my friendly local Fiat dealer, but unfortunately even the headlamp protectors with the Abarth logos aren't available anymore. Best bet is to keep searching, for those two part numbers online every so often. And see if anyone has some, good luck and hope you find them

Hi Pabblo, I'm curious about your Puntos, both of them have Fiat headlamp protectors. I'm Italian, in Italy them are not available as optional, where you got it? I'm interested of buy a pair of them for my Punto GT. Thanks Ciao xr! I bought both sets of headlamp protectors a long time ago. One set was new from a Fiat dealer, that I used to I work at here in the UK. And the other set I happened to find second hand, on a Punto that was in a local scrap yard. Strangely in the packaging of the first set I had from new, I found that they were made in Australia of all places? I know the standard ones that I have, aren't available through Fiat's UK dealers anymore. But they did also offer a set, that has the Abarth logos on. As you can see in my photo from an accessory brouchure below, so I'm not sure if those might possibly be available. I know the abarth logos are just stickers, that can be peeled off. I'll try an find out if these Abarth ones are still available from Fiat in the UK, but you never know it might be worth asking a local Fiat dealer in Italy. If you try these part numbers from the brouchure, you might get lucky and Fiat Italy might by some random chance have some. Great to hear you have a GT, as I used to have one a few years ago in Broom yellow. As pictured below, hopefully your GT is in better condition than my 55 EL is at the moment.

I've got a strange issue, both when on my mobile and tablet.
I can't always reply to a message, and not at all on my my own thread. As when I login, and have then clicked on the reply on my thread. It keeps opening a new window, for me to reply on. But then I'm not then logged in on that, and when I try and login it doesn't recognise my login. So I can't reply, or update my threads at all which is frustrating.
It has let me create this new thread, so bit unsure what is causing it. Apologise, as I'm not tech savvy!
Has anyone else had this problem, or can please suggest what the issue might be?
Many thanks, Paul.

Bit of a bump for the Uno, I had replaced the stepper motor with a used one a month or two ago.
And touch wood, it seems to be starting and running well once more!!
If anyone is interested, just PM me. Price is still £200, no offers thanks.
