I'm quite into my retro gaming and I've had a Raspberry Pi set up as a retro station for a while, but I decided I want to make it portable. The process so far: Start with one Raspberry Pi board: Get a nice cheap screen from Amazon: Attach the Pi board to the backing plate, remembering to use the little spacers to keep the board away from the plate: Slot the screen onto the Pi board pins. You can use a ribbon cable if you want the screen to be separate from the board. I don't though: Put the side panel on and connect the HDMI link: Side posts on: Top plate on: Setup the wireless controller and it's good to go: Some further additions I've made: I made a little speaker from a solderless headphone jack and a speaker taken from a knock-off PSP: Bought a powerbank, which powers the Pi without issues and lasts forever. Also got given a pop socket through work, so it can now be played on a table top: I was also given a Pi model 3, so I switched the old Model 2B out. This gives me more power and built in Wifi and Bluetooth, so no need for ugly dongles anymore.

I think it depends on the original proportions of the car, plus the style of mods. The quality of the chop also makes a huge difference. I used to own Jidderbug and I always thought it was just the right shape. Some bugs look horrible with roof chops, but the guy who did this got it just right: I never liked the chop on that car personally (I did a lot of the other work on it), but that's roof chops for you. Pretty Much every one is different and very much down to whoever is wielding the grinder! I think part of what made Jidderbug work for me was the channeling. It kept things in proportion nicely. Plus the overall shape of the roof was perfect IMO. I should never have gotten rid of it, but it's with a much better owner now who can give it the love it needs. Plus he regularly takes it to Santa Pod, so I can always go look at it whenever a show is on. It's looking much better nowadays:

Fiesta ST. I've always had retros or crapboxes as my dailies, so this was my first "proper" car. Not the fastest, but fast enough and handles quite nicely. Plus has enough luxuries (6 CD changer, leather seats etc) without having any hand holding gadgets (other than ABS). Other than snapping a coil (a common fault apparently), it's been pretty solid.

I've done it a few times.
First couple of times was when I lived with my parents and my Dad snored something fierce. I went and slept in the car, which would have been either my MK2 Golf or MK2 Scirocco. Neither are comfortable.
The next time, me and some friends went on a road trip and we couldn't find a campsite or hotel that would accommodate a group of lads at short notice. So we slept in our cars in a layby. Good news, I got my car to myself. Bad news, it was a 2nd Gen MR2. Slept pretty much upright, but actually slept quite well all considered.
The final time was when I went on an impromptu road trip in my Polo. Hotels wanted extortionate amounts for last minute bookings, so I slept in the car. I was a bit older and a bit more weary, so I drove around for ages trying to find a decent place to park up. Ended up on a village road just outside a farm, which I only found out the next day due to being woken up stupidly early by the farmer's quad bike going past.
My advice from my limited time sleeping in smaller cars: A reclined passenger seat is better than curling up in a back seat. It gets bloody cold. It gets bloody damp. If you're anything like me, you'll worry about your surroundings more than you should.
At my old work place, we had someone sleeping in the car park in their car. They didn't work there, he just used the car park as it was out of the way and reasonably private. He was from Portugal I think, and was living over here super cheap so he could send money back to his family. The owner of the company knew about it and let him carry on, as he was a super nice guy and wasn't causing any trouble. He used the local gym for showers etc and had a little generator, which powered a small TV and Playstation in the car. I can't remember how long he did that for, but it was quite a long time. Possibly a year or so. He may still do it and just found a better location, all I know is he stopped using our car park.

Gathered all of my non-handheld consoles together to take stock. 22 including duplicates. Had a minor freakout when I couldn't find my Dreamcast. Turns out it hadn't been unpacked when we moved house, alongside my SNES, which I didn't realise was also missing.

A friend gave me a Mega Drive 2 today, which will go nicely with my Mega Drive 1. He also gave me a few games, including Rock 'n' Roll Racing, Aladdin and World of Illusion.

I used to see loads of MK2 Golfs, but I hardly see any now. I would say that it's because I used to own one, so looked out for them more, but I'm still very much into my watercooled VWs, so I still look for them.
I'd say mk1 and mk2 MX5s are the most common round here.

I've always loved them, but could never afford one. I had an FC about 10 years ago and it was awesome, but expensive. £40 a week in fuel to drive 5 mins to work and 5 mins back every day. An extra £40 if I wanted to do something on the weekend. Plus the weekly oil top ups. I'd own one again, but maybe as a second car this time.

Ooh will be bookmarking this. I had a Commodore 64 when I was young, my mum thought because it was old and I didn't play it she'd throw it out. I could throttle her now! haha. Always loved Commodore stuff, my first Computer was a Vic-20, I was amazed how good the graphics looked when I bought the 16K ram pack! 😆 I then graduated to a C64, The best game I had was Chase HQ on a plug in cartridge. Awesome stuff in its day!! My mate was always in his Spectrum 48K but his brother had a C16 like yours fr€$h&m1nt¥, I remember him having Kik- Start for it. Kikstart on the Spectrum was pretty much the first game I ever owned. Great game.

Love this sort of thing, I have fond memories of playing my cousins saga master system, then when he upgraded to mega drive we used to have a blast on micro machines!! Myself I was always a Nintendo man, my first console was a second hand NES, I never had a SNES, and we had a family N64 that amazed us with its graphics, my dad still has that n64 and plays command and conquer on it!!! Love to see all these, do you actually play them or are they for display purposes only? I was always a Sega guy myself, although I collect everything nowadays. First system was a ZX Spectrum, which I still have, then I moved on to the Mega Drive, then the Saturn and Dreamcast. Now I've got all the major consoles, so I can catch up on everything I've missed from the other offerings. My consoles mainly sit in drawers, but occasionally I'll get one out to play a certain game. I just got Shenmue 2 on the original XBox, so I'll probably play that next. I've been meaning to play Skies of Arcadia Legends on the Gamecube too. I've actually got a 24 hour marathon for the Teenage Cancer Trust coming up, which we're holding at Arcade Club in Bury, so hopefully I'll get some time to play them then.

Nice collection pal, not long since I sold my Dreamcast and N64, still got my PlayStation One and a stack of games with it. I bought an Original Xbox for £15 the other week as a project to fit into an arcade cabinet. I've got a Raspberry Pi filled with SNES/Mega Drive games that I'm tempted to do the same with. Just don't really have the space for a full cabinet, so I've been tempted to make a tabletop machine instead, or maybe make some sort of handheld device or something.

Nice, as an avid gaming I'll give this some love! What's that on the top right of your shelf? A helmet from the Fallout power armor? On top of the shelving unit? It's the Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles from the Prestige Edition (shown here with my PS4 headset): They work quite well for what they are, although the field of view is a bit narrow.

Drive one . Admitedly they are on the girly side for me, although the Kas are a superb handler and with cheap spares going for them! The MPG from the 1.6s however is horrific ; My now sold Clio 172 could do more MPG without too much effort and if I am honest it makes the M3 look "OK" on fuel. 30ishMPG seems to be the norm for those RoCam engines. It's what put me off buying a SportKa years ago (I had a Ford Ka with the Ford Racing Parts attached, so the SportKa seemed like the natural progression until I saw what people were getting out of them, boy or girl drivers! Why Ford didn't fit the superior Zetec SE engines to them Lord only knows but I suspect cost was the big one. I need to send across an article about the best Convertible to buy by Modern Classics! They said the MX-5 beat the lot purely down to affordability. However, they did feel the MGF wasn't too bad at all once you dialled into the car. Yeah, the MPG is a little on the low side, but I honestly don't notice it that much (although I only drove it for a few months before my other half passed her test). I mainly noticed the tiny fuel tank. £35 took it from almost empty to full. They do drive very nicely though. I recommended it to my other half due to her looking for a cheap, reliable car and I figured it looked good (for her!), but would probably drive a bit sloppy. She's not into cars, so I figured she wouldn't really care about handling etc. I was the one to test drive it and I was thoroughly impressed. Tight handling, nicely weighted steering, reasonable acceleration and everything just felt good. The interior is a bit plasticy, but nicely designed IMO. We paid about £1500 for it with 30,000 on the clock and I feel we got a hell of a lot of car for it. The only thing that let it down is the plastics. As well as the stuff mentioned by maispa about the plastic heater parts, it was cheap plastic parts that caused the door mechanism to fail on ours. Not exactly bank breaking to fix, but it's worth taking into account. Another thing to take into account is space. Whilst leg room is good, the height isn't. I'm about average and I felt the roof was a bit low. Not uncomfortably so, but low enough for me to notice. Made me feel like I was in a roof chopped car though, so I can't complain! The boot, however is amazing. We managed to fit an alloy wheel, a tyre (separate to the wheel) and our weekly shopping in there with minimal shuffling.
