Drove to work this morning behind a Chrysler C300 wagon. Huge. Was burbling with twin obviously non factory tail pipes and sitting on huge rims. Not sure if the interior space is as large or usable as the exterior dimensions would indicate and the mpg is going to be the wrong side of horrific. Does carry the mobster look off very well though and all the mechanicals are going to be pretty agricultural.

Which order are these pictures in? Are the bottom to the ones from this weekend and the scratch from earlier in the year? The crash was at the Festival of Speed earlier this year. The repaired car was at Goodwood this week.

My friend Val's XJR-15 at Goodwood and as it was after the festival when his son "scratched" the paintwork going up the hill. repaired after festival crash After snatching first instead of third at the festival earlier this year. About 80K's worth of damage.

We broke a wheel bolt after two afternoon runs. Just as the course was drying out. That will learn us not to bother swapping wheels! Good day though

A few Peugeot 407 coupes seem to fit the bill 2k will (just) buy a 2.7 twin turbo diesel which can row itself along pretty rapidly.
Can also get a 3.0v6 but would need to factor in the fuel bowser to tow behind it.

Some excellent ideas popping up. I'm hunting around the 9-5 patch at the moment as what's not to love about an Aero, however decent ones do seem post 2K. It's a complex car so I imagine cheap ones don't stay cheap for very long. The Mini is a great call. Small, not too expensive to run and yes, peppy as well. My daughter has a 1.4 One, so maybe matching hers is not such a good look. However, they do drive nice! The main problem seems to be supply. Prices are all over the place. That said looking at an 06 dame Edna Aero estate on the bay for £1500. Was £1750 with no takers. High tax and its bloody miles away.

I am mooching around the internet in mild pursuit of a more dailyable daily than the 205.
My slightly random searching seems to fits some broad criteria, however the sweet spot could reasonably be expressed as:
All the 2s. Budget 2K, Age 2 decades, bhp 200
Any thoughts?

It's been many a long year since I attended a RR event. Glad to have booked my tickets already, hopefully will get Bertie up the hill as well but if not then looking forward to seeing how it's all grown since Santa Pod.

Update. Got the car fitted with proper plumbed in fire extinguisher inside car and engine bay. Also regulation electric cut offs etc. At the same time decided to test the hypothesis that you can never have too much forward facing lighting. Hypothesis seems valid.

I’ve probably walked past you/your house then , done many training courses there ! Few beers in the pub just along the road then either a Chinese for the room ( better than the food they served in the hotel) or a walk in to town for some more beers! Remember one very drunk finding some club or other that was accessed down an alley way then up some stairs ! We missed the curfew for the gates at the hotel so ended up climbing over them! I miss those days Hahah Oh THAT place. er... lovely! you are still alive so it mustn't have gone too badly for you. The pub (The Bees Knees) was quite good I remember. Nice and local, ie twenty yards from my front door. Retro content, my old car outside the pub in question

Spent 15 years living in Cirencester with Mitsubishi's UK headquarters at the end of our road.
Highlights were seeing various works rally cars arriving and departing. Low lights were regular HGV deliveries of parts rolling up our quite narrow road at 3 in the morning. Plus being given a Mk2 Shogun to have a go in when they asked local residents to test drive them as a sort of sorry for all the noise after some warehouse refurbishment.
A reasonable sized part of the Cirencester economy so their absence will certainly be felt.
When I was 18 a boy from a few doors down had a Celeste coupe. SO much cooler than anyone else car. Later on I rocked a poo brown Galant for a year in Cape Town. Such a horrid car but entirely reliable.
End of my Mitsubishi memories.

I'll offer up an alternative as whilst the Transit van made great TV this is Sabine at her best 40 overtakes in 8 mins on the ring WOW. Fearless!! Offt! She flies past the slower cars at the start when everyone is getting in each others way, but then towards the top of the filed where the cars are much much faster... she still swallows them up. it's like she is never not exactly where she wants to be on the track. Legend. RIP

So mini update. With all the events I was planning to do in 2021 pretty much canceled looks like the 205 is going to have a quiet year. That aside the car decided to eat it's head gasket, so that was nice. Spent some of the money saved not crashing on getting everything sorted out again then was depressed because it was all hidden away from sight so splashed out on getting the 1.9 speediness refurbished in white. A much better look1 Also managed to get some vide footage of it actually rolling along. In my defence it all felt a LOT faster from the inside than it looks from the outside.

Getting back to the OP's question of how much things have changed, things have changed a lot. For a start automatic "women drivers eh?" comments are no longer regarded as either funny or in fact remotely true. Car culture is infinitely more welcoming of all types of people now, and while women drivers may have been the first incarnation of this I think it's really just a reflection of a more open and tolerant society in general. By making women less excluded, less are driven away by displays of toxic masculinity.
That said I (and thankfully a handful of others) recently got ourselves blocked form a large FB classic cars spotted group after an awful display of online mysoginy directed at a woman in a photo with a rather nice car. After a selection of truly awful comments a few voices raised objections. We were immediately labelled SJW snowflakes who couldn't stand to see "banter" on the internet. We were all promptly banned from the page for being "too libtard". The group has since had several warnings from FB regarding hate speech towards women so I guess some corners of the internet still have a fair way to go.
Thankfully I feel these attitudes are more likely seen in the pure online (that's you FB) forums than places like here which also promote and nurture real world relationships.

17 years eh? That's a lot of love, effort, blood sweat and tears to put into anything. Full congrats to Dave and everyone else who has put their shoulders to the wheel since I've been a member (March 2004 for the record). There have been plenty of comings and goings but one thing has remained in place all this time. The character of the place.
Cheers! Next year RR can buy itself a beer to celebrate!

I recall Louise Atkins Walker had a big crash into water, that must have been a proper clenching moment! Yowzers! Yes. Would have been pretty hairy going down, then when you stop rolling... it only gets worse.
