It seems that this website has a death wish! All i get is error messages all the time! Very difficult to access any content. Latest on the situation can be found here : support.proboards.com/thread/675474/posting-reply-takes-404?page=4They know what the problem is at least, and are trying to make a fix that won't also cause loads of other issues for them. So fingers crossed for a resolution soon.

Do check the ratios first! The boxes in most of the commercials had a much lower first and second gear...........

I see the thorny subject of aftermarket wheels has risen its' head again! Jensen Interceptor alloys fit perfectly, as do some old model Jeep wheels. The big issue is with the lack of space to fit decent size tyres on the rears. The widest tyre you can fit is a 190, any wider and you foul the wheel arch! SD1 wheels will fit but you will need to use special wheel nuts to fit the P6 studs which have imperial threads.

So, what a fantastic restoration you have achieved!! Well done! What do you intend to do with it now?

If the rest of the car looks as good as that, then it will look ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !

Saw your post, if they are still available I'll take them. I'm in Herne Bay, Kent, so not too far away. Please pm with your address details and when you would like them collected.
Thanks, Adrian.

Yes, i thought so. The 4WD LT77/R380 g/boxes all have the same ouput shaft which is much longer than a 2WD. Also, the S3 XJ6 3.4 was available with the LT77 but not many people bought the manual car (which only produced a 160 bhp) instead preferring the auto. 2WD R380's are few and far between..........

What about its' evolution, the R380 g/box?

Looking Good! Keep at it! For what it's worth, I'd keep those wheels on it.....

I would imagine they retained the original XK gearbox.....

Indeed, but what I was meaning was that I have never of a Daimler V8 being converted to XK power!

"Later version" ?? Rather a large difference between a Daimler V8 and a 6 pot 4.2 XK !!

Just spotted this for sale locally, which may give you some inspiration. Looks like alot of car for the money, though rather unusually for a Japanese import, it's LHD... www.oystercarsuk.com/daimlerdoublesixThat outfit is quite close to me.....I know a couple of their customers, some of the stock isn't always quite what you would expect.........
