I have seen this a lot and wondered its story. There was the exact same model, similar condition, parked up on my mate's old street in Stoke Newington that I used to wonder if it was used or not, as it was in the same spot every time we went up. I had a look on street view and it's definitely in use, now with much more patina than previous.

I swear it was only a couple of years ago I saw these and 106s all the time, now I see one in a blue moon.
Quite a good find to not get one that's been beat up and badly Barried!

The Great Bump of 2022 (for anyone who's been interested in this thread):
I haven't had much time with a move out of me 'ome and then a move back to 'ome again + changing jobs and making a full length skate-plank video, to really get stuck in with this...
However I got it booked in with a friend's body shop and it's currently going a full resto, which I've been included in an album of pics that show the progress (fair to say it's got me hyped to get the car back next year).
I'll get some tidy pics of the car once it returns.

Aside from the unfinished projects and AWOL members, I think the other great unresolved thread was the guy who bought the garage down in Wales. Suspect like many life simply gets in way and plans drift away behind other priorities. Certainly seen that myself in the last 2-3 years, but ironically that pushed me more towards playing with old cars again and this very forum. Yeah this one seems a bit gutting. I did see someone mention they're friends with him 'ye old FB and he's apparently pretty busy at the moment? Every time I see an update hoping to see him post, it's usually someone asking for said update ironically. Hope he does come back to it, it made slow days at work go faster reading that lot!

Ah yes 106s. I miss mine so much, it was a fantastic car. Although mine had the issue of 'kangarooing', where the ICV was playing up. It reared its ugly head right towards the last few months of ownership and I couldn't figure it out.
Looks nice with those steelies! I had a set of standard ones and had them banded, looked quite well lowered par the gap at the front.

I really like those era of Fezzas, shame around here they're always owned by 'eddas who modify them badly and rag them into nothingness.
This is really tastefully done, good work on this!

Sorry if this is the wrong section, feel free to tell me I'm a naughty egg or something...
Does anyone know any decent body shops in/around Swansea/Port Talbot? I really need to get some welding and painting done on my Mk2. I'm a bit wary about some places, hence me asking on here.
If anyone can suggest some places they've used or something, that'd be great!
Over and out.

On my Mk2 the bumpers are metal with the plastic clips over them (I should've removed the strips really) and end caps.
From factory the metal bumpers are colour coded, but I much prefer them being black.
They look rather odd with them being colour coded I find.

106s, either 1st or 2nd gen. I bought a 106 Quiksilver a few years ago for peanuts and there were still loads about, now even the base spec ones seem to have all but vanished, from the roads at any rate. As someone with a 106 I agree with this.
The ones I see tend to be ones owned by non enthuasists, with the base specs. They really tend to be rough around the edges...
Then, mwshers or enthuasists have the GTIs/Rallyes.

Anyone on here from Swansea that commutes back and forth to Swansea? I keep seeing a red N reg Astra and it seems fairly well kept!
If you're on here, I'm the chap in the mk6 Fiesta usually admiring the car haha.

I haven't done anything with this recently, so here is an unnecessary bump containing; Me and my mate's new MK2 Fezz (contains an XR3i lump and is pretty nifty, you'll probably see more of this in due course)
And when I took it for its first proper spin when the weather cleared up, I met a chap my dad was off about with a blue XR2. On the way to pick up one of my friends I spotted him and pulled over for a chat. Very friendly chap, who's had this car for a number of years and was a pretty tidy example.
My daily diesel snotter alongside the Mk2.
To end my lack-of-progress-here-is-my-car-alongside-other-cars post, here it is when I scrubbed it up during the 'heatwave' we got down in South Wales
Trying to prioritise good weather activities like skateboarding, drinking copious amounts of largs and going to barbeques with trying to get stuff done with this means...well, I haven't got anything done.
I have discovered the inner wing on the offside is going to need doing, appears to be lovely and crusty. The bits that have been needing doing due to a failed attempt by me is the arches on both sides and a portion of the rear quarter, a part of the boot floor and inner floor. Other than that it's generally touching up bits with a spot of paint and filler one day. Oh, I purchased a 4 branch (for mo powaaah, right?) to replace the busted old one and release some miniscule horses out of the powerhouse 1.4.
Now that my friend has a mk2 (and I forgot to add, he sold his last mk2 pictured earlier to another guy in Swansea) means I've got a bit more of a go, to get it done. We all know projects never really finish, do they? For now I am enjoying the car for summer and then I'm going to sort the rear wheel bearings and do the underside finally.

I can't remember the last time I even seen one of those in the flesh. I only see the POV specs still be driven around that are rather tatty.
Nice example!

I have this in at the moment (I don't have a photo of the speakers, but they're an old set of Kenwoods at the rear and some Vibe 4'' speakers at the front).
However, I have the DCR-1000R CD and DCH-470 CD changer to be fitted soon.

I don't really post much of what I'm doing, so I thought I'd put this online as some form of progress thread. It isn't much than simple tidy up jobs and a place to simply dump my photos. I am also curse word at taking photos doing most jobs.
Pardon quality and sizing, these are taken on mobile phones that range from curse word quality to tidy quality.
Anyways;
How it looked when I picked it up after a (scary) 4 and a half hour drive from Rhyl in 2017. Hardened tyres, knackered brakes, very wet weather and generally no vision at all. Driving over Penderyn at one point and there was a cow in the middle road, with visibility up to just further than my bonnet really..
And next to my mate's D reg Pop Plus (ps it's for sale, hit me up if anyone is interested);
Obligatory XR2 steering wheel and XR2 clocks fitted photo;
(And I put LEDs in, curse word photo but you get the jist)
I decided to lower it, but not as low as my Pug since I think Mk2s look alright a tad bit low, as opposed to dunked..so,
Put it onto a set of Outlaw springs and shocks;
And a non fitting Sportex exhaust, that we made fit
(I had it welded, raised up a bit and what not shortly after fitting it)
Back flash and some old Kenwood parcel shelf speakers, along with Flat Eric chillin'.
Bought brand new rear bumper + refurbed the old one - literally rubbed it right down to bare metal and repainted. A long with that I forgot to mention I put on an XR2 lip, new plates, badges, front light protectors and wind deflectors for the windows. Here how is how it looked shortly after this;
And swapped my OG seats for a set of Corbeaus my friend had -
Had the Pepperpots done by APS in Swansea - highly reccomend him if you're local! I also got a set of A539's for them, too.
Sometime last year I got the wing done on the passenger's side, as it had rotted pretty badly inside and had horrible bits of bubbling by the light cluster;
Put a K&N air filter on it - which sounds tidy when you're giving it 'ye 'ol beans;
Then, it kinda' looked like this for a bit circa October last year;
I had spun in first on a slippery part of the road, where I then popped out the driveshaft. I got it home via my old man towing it and the driveshaft was chewed to pieces (no access to a trailer or anything at that time, plus it wasn't near anywhere to leave it over night).
A guy in Neath ended up being the saviour and refurbed it all for £100 - tidy!
I got two Denon head units, along with a 12 CD changer I'm planning to fit. So far, I have this a 670R fitted;
Got some good tapes to play alongside it;
Par getting that wing sorted, I done some jobs inside the car done such as sorting out some leccy mishaps. The car's fan was constantly on and I decided to fit a manual switch where the rear wiper switch was. I must have done something a bit 'ooh er' andI had some slight smoke coming out of the dash, with no wiring amiss or there being any sign of fire I was a bit lost. I think it was this bit of wiring that caused it. It must have been some resistance. All has been sorted.
It then stayed like this for a while after I had the boot and inner passenger sill sorted due to it failing an MOT - plus the rear wheel bearings;
And up to now, it had a through clean out (which meant some photo opportunities) it was time to find this bloody leak in the boot...
And I found it - it was a split in the light surround
General plans are to get all the relevant parts re-sprayed, possibly rattle can jobs as they're only small bits here and there. Seal the obvious leak culprit and respray the rocker cover.

That looks mint, fairplay.
If I'm right, 205s don't really rust all that too bad compared to its predecessors due to zinc blasted plates and what not.
Where in Wales are you based? Should definitely get all of that sealed up if there's no rust under there!
