Some cheap ATF in the oil, say 1 litre in a typical 4-4.5 litre capacity sump, and run for 100 miles makes a great flush. And at least it's still a lubricant.
I first heard of it on ClubGTI, it sorted out rattling hydro tappets for me on my old Golf engine.

Cut an onion into 3 pieces and leave in the car for a night. They'll absorb a lot of smell. The next night, put a couple of oranges studded with cloves into it. That'll get rid of the smell of onion!

Lovely work Dez.
What's the bedliner like, now it's dry? As regards toughness, resistance to s bang of a spanner etc.

I had a g60 mk1 here to sort for a mate, using a g60 rad. It really didn't like keeping the coolant in it til I lifted the header tank until it almost touched the bonnet. Up to that, even with a 75 degree stat and the fan coming on at low temperature, it still used to spit out the coolant.
Might be worth considering. On my own mk1, I'm putting the header tank in the scuttle, a Corsa has a nice small one.
The only mk1s with top fill rads were small block cars iirc, and the top of the rad was higher than the coolant passages in the head.

I'm so jealous of this. . I pulled the plastic arches off my Tornado... Without having to remove any screws or rivets.... I love the Clubsport idea. I've been thinking about doing the same, possibly with a cage, no rear seats, and as little sound deadening as possible.
I love your seats, I can't understand the nonsense Hype around mk2 Recaros, sure they fit straight in, and are comfortable, but at a grand or so (most of which is scene tax? I'd much prefer a modern, stronger, safer seat like yours.
Great work!

How about glueing a piece of rally mudflap material to the wheel side, rather than trying to make it smooth? Would offer some impact resistance, and easily available in various colours, including black and red.

I use steel studs, with copper nuts, and find that works. A lot if stainless is soft.

You could just add a non return valve. I did the same to a mk2 Golf last year, facet solid state pump at the rear, bike carbs up front and it works fine. If you think the fuel line is a problem, which I don't see how, replace it with semi hard plastic line, or metal. I used motorhome (steel) gas line on my rally car, 8mm bore. Very malleable and easy form, yet really strong.

Reminds me of a story about an old guy who wouldn't keep his truck maintained despite the mechanics telling him his brakes were shot. He rolls into the yard one day, looking a bit grey, and told the lads to overhaul the brakes, didn't care what it cost. "why the sudden change of mind, Jim?"
"I came into a roundabout, a bit quick, had to jump on the middle pedal, and nothing stopped only my Heart!"
