I'm feeling pretty good about the move home despite the terrible weather. Even the wife seems pretty upbeat about it which is a bit of a shock.
Off to look at a car at the weekend. We've hired one for about 10 days to allow us to get around. It's a Vauxhall Crosslander X or summat like that and it is a pitiful thing. Absolutely dreadful. Going to look at a Freelander 2 which I've always liked so fingers crossed it's decent. It's got FSH and no towbar so hoping it's a good un.

Yay made it back to Blighty. Surprisingly warm at 9c so managed OK in my shirt sleeves. We decided to get a cab back from Manchester so that was OK. We were looking at hiring a car from Manchester and dropping it off 10 days later in Chesterfield. To do the different drop off is almost a grand more than picking up and dropping off in the same place. Crackers! Wife's sister and husband were waiting for us. They've looked after the house for us whilst we've been away and suitable decorated it up for our return. It's been great to catch up with family and be back in our lovely home. Thanks for sticking around and viewing my thread. Special thanks for those that also commented. Now,do I keep this going as just my thread for my 2 retros? Ooroo mi ducks

Half way home. Just sat in the Qatar lounge waiting for our onward flight to Manchester. This lounge is mahoosive! We were in Q suites on the plane. Its your own little booth, and they put a tablecloth and a candle on your tray! You also get a set of pyjamas and they put a little mattress on your seat that goes flat when it's time for night night. It's another world! I had buttered prawns for starters and then crayfish for my mains washed down with a Leffe beer. Hope the next flight is as comfortable and I can grab another few hours kip. Ooroo me duck.

Ha ha love it. I think the wife will be researching ways to get back out here as soon as possible. I'm 40% going to miss it, 40% happy to be going home and 20% meh. Always look forward, never back.

I thought that TR would be my last spot but we went down Freo yesterday for Sunday dinner and a few drinks with friends. There were a few nice uns cruising around on a glorious day. We had dinner at the old courthouse where I got to relive my youth. Think that pretty much wraps up this thread. We fly at 21.50 tonight landing in Manchester at 11.00 Tuesday. Part of me is sad to be leaving but part is glad to be going back home. Strange mix of emotions. Better to have loved n lost etc etc. Onwards and upwards!

Bit of recent TR action in WA... Just a shame I didn't get to hear it.

We popped out to Balga to meet a friend who's just bought his first house. Exciting times for him. There's no pub nearby so we went to the Carine Tavern and I was treated to a bit if TR action. Got a feeling I've seen this one before. Ooroo.

You may be able to fit one last car show in before you go! Looks a good show but unfortunately I don't have any wheels of my own to get there. Good shout though 👍🏻

We're now in Perth for the final leg. Flights are booked for Monday evening. We're getting shipped back by business class which I've never experienced before so that'll be interesting. Mind you it's costing the business AU$19,000 to do it! Crazy! We've had a couple of nights up at Joondalup resort. You can tell if somewhere is a quality establishment by the sauce they have at breakfast. Ooroo.

I was always told if you want to cover water/damp stains on walls or ceilings you need to undercoat it before painting. It's worked the 1 time I've needed it.

Cheers mate but it's a pretty photogenic country. I'm hopefully doing it a bit of justice on my Box Brownie 😂

She's achieved a lot in the years she's been in the medical industry but I know for a fact she's most proud of her nursing years. Funny that, I still miss aspects of my nursing career, having progressed quite fast for the time, I was a ward manager by 28 on an acute ward. But left because of the bureaucracy and lack of motivation in the system. It is a hard but rewarding job. Sounds very much like the wife Grizz. She made it to sister on ICU but left for similar reasons. She felt she could help the NHS more from outside rather than working within. Pretty sad state of affairs.

We're staying at a hotel on the North Shore called Harbour View. I guess the clue us in the name but still, it's pretty blummin spectacular. It's the wifes last day at work so she's meeting up with colleagues which means more beer. My poor liver. It's 50 years of the Opera House so it's got a light show on it. Ooroo.

Few photos from our hectic day. Airlie is a beautiful spot just don't let it relax you too much and let your guard down! Shute Harbour waiting for the water taxi to come. Blasting along at max knots. Flying into Sydney. It really is amazing to see the city spread out over the harbour. You can actually see both places we've lived in this photo. Then a lovely sun effect as we turned to land at Botany Bay. OK time for a beer... Ooroo.
