He might mean the motor is wired star permanently. Quite common on older motors. VFDs need it wired delta. Need to see the motor cover removed to tell.
Direct drive lifts arnt the best for converting to 240v as the motor is so big the correct vfd would be expensive and draw a lot of single phase current. Would probably require dedicated feed from the consumer unit at least.

Got to be honest my go to for satin will be Upol rattle cans. I did one have some amazing single pack satin black but never managed to find it again, Everything else ive bought in a tin hasn't worked. The rattle cans arnt great for longevity so if that matters i will spray them over a coat of proper 2K and be prepare to re-do it occasionally. Lets face it satin never lasts long looking good anyway. Very quickly its just matt!

Rust encapsulator is just phosphoric acid with an acrylic binder. Doesn't really do anything special.
What i would do is brush/spray some phosphoric acid on effected areas (after ruffing them up with a wire brush if possible). Leave that to dry then Id them probably put a bit of rattle can zinc primer over and coat with some rust protection like dinitrol/bilt hamber.

Why? Saved search 1275 mini engine on ebay and look at it once a week. Is that really that hard? It's all I do!
It might not get you one tomorrow and I guess that's one reason that makes people pay over the odds. Impatience! but imo it's far more about people beliving what they hear on Facebook posts about how they are supposedly all really rare and worth a fortune rather than observing real world markets.
A running one is a bit differnt but then so many people pay for a 'running' engine when theres no proof of it running. Same with engines with supposedly fancy parts in them that no one can prove. No proof no value!

I don't think it will damage the gun. Brake cleaner is fairly tame stuff.

Might be worth getting hold of a Bandit 600 alt to investigate. I suspect they are roughly the same as the normal 40a Denso but would be interesting to check. I cant find any specs on it online.
Theres always a Kabota style dynamo too. They are shorter than a 40a denso but about the same radial bulk. Popular fitment on race cars.

It will be fine. If you wanted belt and braces just cut the old centre bore out and make up a new sleeve that can be welded in. People really over think this stuff.

ahem.. i think you mean minis are the next best thing to a metro Seriously tho half the problem is people don't understand how to value an item, they just revert to internet hearsay most of the time! Unless you have something very unique where there might be one or two buyers after one or to examples it really comes down to what you can sell something for over and over again, not what you might be able to get for something if you get really lucky and find an ignorant buyer with a fat wallet. 1275 mini engines are a good example. There's loads about (even tho people claim there isnt) you can buy a unit for rebuild for £500max all day long. Ive bought over 10 in the last couple of years. £500 is therefore their value. Their value isn't £800 because you once saw someone bid that for one on ebay or £1000 because someone on market place is asking that. its £500 because if you're patient you will buy one for that easily and be able to do it again and again and incidentally its not £300 because although I have picked them up that cheap you need to get somewhat lucky for that.

Haha
They arnt worth much at all. Don't fall into the trap of listening to dreamers on the internet. Look at what they actually sell for on ebay auctions etc.
To give you an idea I bought a rust free shell the other day for 300quid. It's only the shell and closures but it's the most important bit. They arnt an easy car to weld up with limited panels avaliable etc. Valuing them is 90% about how rusty it is.
A few years back I bought a project car (1980 mk1 998 HLE). Was described as 'rust free' (*spoiler it wasnt) it was about as 'rust free' as you are likely to find a project car but still needed new wings and a tidy up around the bottom. Cost me £2100 on an ebay auction so it was it's real value and not just our 'idea' of what it was worth. Is a early car that's tax exempt which makes a big difference to value. A later car that has a long time to wait for historic status would probably only have made a grand.
A 1275 engine adds about 500quid to the value. That's just what the engine is worth.
Shop around and you will find some decent bargains, there's plenty about.
6k would have to be a minter or an MG

If you do it properly who's gonna know. I'd make sure you know what your doing tho! Not quite as simple as sewing two bits of fabric together.

Dave Walker (founder of Emerald) did a good Haynes book on Engine Managment. I'd suggest that's a good start to get a grounding in how everything works.

To be fair they use two totally contradictory statements but my understanding is it has to be 40 on the January before the April if that makes sense. No harm in trying Thom

MOT yes, automatically becomes exempt on the day its 40. For Ulez, Tax etc No they become exempt from the April after their 40th. You will have to get the logbook changed to historic tax class at a post office for that.
Ive got a 1983 truck that's already 40 so no MOT needed but still not historic until April.

One thing ive never had to buy. I just live off the half full abandoned ones you find laying around all over the place! Did hear the Calor bottles were worth money to go for export tho. Probably illegal but if they wont give you your money back then surely its yours now!

You cant just bolt the 1275 head on your 1098cc The block will need pockets to clear the valves.
