So, now it's 2020 and the car is out and in use. Yesterday I found these on Blocket: A set of brand new lower and stiffer dampers and rear springs for Fiat 850, at a bargain price, in Sweden!!! The final proof for that if you wait long enough anything will show up for sale! I didn't plan on changing the dampers but it was impossible to resist - and they're red! So - future plans: - Change dampers and springs
- Fix the throttle linkage so it can reach W.O.T. (Wide Open Throttle)
- Have a look at the gear linkage to see if play can be minimized
- Clean the tank a third time with something more agressive than water (Any suggestions? I want to do CIP (Cleaning In Place))
- Fix the rev counter (see post above). I have tried a separate positive feed to the Ignitor and looked for any adjustment possibilities on the rev counter itself (there are none). Maybe I'll change back to points just to see if it changes anything. Any suggestions regarding this problem are much appreciated.

Time flies - and so does the tiny Fiat. It drives really nicely No real updates presented here since 2018. A few things have actually happened during 2019 though:
I have cleaned out the petrol tank - TWICE. The petrol tank in the 850 is on top of the gearbox and below the parcel shelf. Impossible to remove with less than removing the engine-gearbox-package (quite simple on the 850 but still). Luckily it has a drain plug. The first time I drained the petrol (it was quite clean) flushed it with the garden hose a number of times, rocked the car back and forth and finally dried it with pressurised air. The car ran fine for about 20 kilometers, then it stopped. Not possible to suck or blow through the line even though I applied quite some pressure. I cleaned it again - this time with the pressure washer. Once again the car ran fine for a few kilometers and then it stopped. Back to the "tube through the filler neck"-installation
The car was still a bit too low and the front wheels touched the front arches a bit too often. So I reinstalled the original cart spring beam. Now the wheels only touches the arches if I bring fat friends or drive like a hooligan (both of which has happened). I then followed sonus advice and made a spacer to fit the smaller steering wheel. It turned out nicely (sorry, no picture) Finally I took it for its last ever MOT (rolling 50 years in Sweden now). It passed with smiles and thumbs up.

I was looking for a pic of an MGA for the cafe racer thread as it struck me that they could be a good base for a cafe racer, but what I found was a whole world of goodness, and whilst it may be pre-leyland, they are getting dumped here. Not a merc. Currently for sale in Sweden: link to ad

nice "roadkill" solution on the gastank..haha Paul vanderheyden once told me the hole in the lowering tabs should be 25mm lower and 3mm more to the inside. this should give -1,5 camber. How did you make the replica instrument panel? nice work. An original is like made of gold and not to be found.. It has turned out a bit more RoadKill than I expected it to. Fouling wheels, bodged fuel supply and no working instruments... Speaking of Roadkill - My favorite quote is "No amount of Duct Tape can fix this!"
I bought the replica instruments from a bloke in Italy who makes them. I can send his contact details to those who want them.

Part of the trouble I have is that the beast looks very Peugeot to me! I agree! I mean - Peugeot have used the rampant lion since the 1858! Why would some other manufacturer put a lion on their product (car, tractor, fridge whatever)? And if they did - wouldn't that curse word Peugeot off?
