Always quite liked these.
When I was a kid there was a middle aged bloke that lived up the road from my Nan and had a tired looking one on his driveway. I remember standing there watching him work on it quite frequently and being very excited the day he got it running. I could’ve only been 9 or 10!
Definitely needs lowering and some banded steels.

Spotted this in South London today. Hasn’t had an MOT since 2008.

Not spotted as such. I was walking home from work earlier and wandered down a road I haven’t been down since I was a kid. I had a vague recollection of there being a Bedford CF on big wheels stashed in one of the back gardens back in the day. It’s not there anymore but Google maps came to the rescue with a quick look back to 2008 street view

Took a different route back from my daughters dance class this morning and spotted this Nissan Vanette. Doesn’t look like it’s moved for a while.

the appropriate licence to drive it! ideally needs the registration document and a receipt for it too. It’s over 30 years old so can be drive on a car licence as long as it’s not being used to carry passengers.

My Uncle is looking to buy a 1960’s bus that’s located in Belgium. It runs and drives etc so ideally he wants to drive it back. Apart from insurance is there anything else he’d need to be able to drive it onto the eurotunnel and then home at this end?

The steering is offset? I never knew that. I keep coming across a post on Facebook someone selling a load of badges of all kinds, want me to look out for any for you? Yeh the steering wheel is pretty much in line with the left bolster of the drivers seat! If you spot a Metro badge on there then I’d be interested. Thanks. I’ve just popped over there with my truck and it started straight up and idled nicely. Thankfully the overheating doesn’t seem to have done the engine any harm! I’ve moved the car over to my Nans where all my tools are and it’s a much safer road to leave it rather than outside my house! Love an old Metro! shame about those holes where the spot lights used to be, hopefully you can get a new bumper. Gutted you're changing to manual and the steering wheel but i think we have different ideas lol. Bookmarked. Haha the auto gearbox is terrible so I can’t wait for it to go! Also the original wheel wasn’t nice to use at all. Too big and with the steering wheel being offset from the drivers seat it just felt awkward to steer.

I won’t be able to look at the car until the weekend now but I think this has just sped up the process of pulling the engine to convert it to manual.

Another quick update.
I decided to take the Metro to work today. It still isn’t running right but it made it there with no dramas. On the way home I had to jump on the A3 to go and get dog food. It started getting quite hot on the way there and then on the way back it started boiling over! The section of A3 I was on has nowhere to pull over so I had to just keep going. The engine was rattling its poor little head off by the time I got off the A3. By that point I figured whatever damage is done is done so I carried on the extra five minutes home with it rattling and steaming away frown I got home and couldn’t get the bonnet open so it’s been abandoned outside the house for now.
Absolutely no idea what to check next as I’ve flushed the cooling system, replaced the water pump and thermostat and checked the fan is working.

How did you get a specific boss to fit the Metro? I used a Mini boss. Same spline pattern.

Interesting; we have a Motamec trolley jack at work - I didn't know they do steering wheels also! Certainly looks very smart. Motamec is MST Cars. They do all this sort of thing. I’ve got their wheels in a couple of my cars. Always good quality etc.

Filled the engine with coolant today. Good news, no leaks and the temp is now staying slap bang in the middle of the gauge Also fitted a steering wheel that I’ve had kicking around for ages. Much nicer to use than the standard bus wheel! [a href=" |https://thumbsnap.com/eTZVsnGb"] |https://thumbsnap.com/eTZVsnGb[/a] The engine is still running like a sack of curse word though so it’s going to a local Mini specialist on Wednesday for a tune up. The car is now officially being used as my daily so it better behave!
