A wild RX7 appeared in the woods. The huge smoke plumes we saw earlier that day was either their bbq or that rx7, judges are still out on that one. (in reality, I loved it and was right behind it when entering the highway. The sound of that spinning dorito, oh my <3 ) IMG_20170521_103058 by G C, on Flickr Taking the BMW to get some breakfast in Malmedy IMG_20170521_103406 by G C, on Flickr IMG_20170521_121523 by G C, on Flickr We cruised together with this Tuscan and Cerbera to the circuit on saturday. In 3 words: great racing weekend. In more words: great racing weekend, spent with some friends and only a couple of disappointments. Biggest dissapointment being that this year, for the first time in 6 or 7 editions, we weren't allowed to enter with our bbq. "The organisers say you aren't allowed, sir". Unlike last year (when they wouldn't let us back in after 8 o'clock, while they raced untill midnight) there was no convincing the security at the gates. I'm sure we will find a way next year though Anyhow, I'm gonna start editing my photos but in the meantime I've already emptied my phone of its contents: When camping is life, but so is driving your sportscar to race events. Looks amazing... I really want to go... however I fear that I won't get the chance next year as it'll be the run up to a new Retro Rides event (which I thought I'd just pop in here to see who is paying attention). Classic Le Mans next year do it! Not sure if we'll do an 'offical' RR presence there, but I think we'll have some kind of thing going on. Will keep that in mind, for RR and for LM that is. More more more! I've got a list of things to do with my son when he gets older (he's only 2) and this is near the top More photos won't be a problem It is a very nice event and a wonderful atmosphere, although I actually prefer the Spa 6 Hours in september.... Equally cool cars, the 6-hours startingfield is just massive (as in "+100 cars, which start lining up on the old start-finish line and there are cars almost to the new start-finish"). But most of all, it's even more accesible as a visitor: the first couple of years the new pitwalls were okay to stand and I even blagged my way to the inside of the La Source hairpin without photo-credentials... The last two-three years things are getting stricter (as more people visit), but still okay to pics the mechanics brains while they are rebuilding the gearbox of a Group C-racer...so no reason to be complaining I guess Oh yes, more please. This is definitely on my Bucket List along with Le Mans Classsic with my boy (boy? he's in his late twenties!) and is somewhere in France now. But then so is getting me and him to Bathurst. It's a bloody big bucket! On my bucketlist are Le Mans Classic, V8 Supercars @ Bathurst and Goodwood Revival or Members Meet still not crossed off.... LM and Goodwood aren't to spendy living in Belgium, but a ticket to Australia is slighty more so.... (and for you the exact opposite I guess )

And some moving footage from the starting area. Normally a Rally-spec Scooby is quite loud...but I couldn't even hear it launch because of that insane (and insanely good sounding!) Audi S1. Around 850 bhp...

That Integrale in the last pic, Raketen Bruno? Or another one with a crazy Delta ;D Wanted to go to this event, but forgot about it untill i saw a post on facebook sunday.... :/ It's not even that far from here. Nope, Norbert Handa according to the facebook page. This was also a "regular" (well, sort of... ) Integrale while Raketen Bruno (I'll admit, had to look him up ) has a Delta S4. Still, plenty quick enough and good for second place in his class. Too bad about missing it, but know the feeling. Don't know where you live in the Netherlands, but the other local hillclimbs would probably be: - Teuven (close to Voeren and Maastricht): august normally, but haven't found anything about the 2017 edition yet... Lowbudget option if you want to enter yourself btw
- Richelle (close to Luik) in September. Also a very small event, costs about 5€ as a spectator but some interesting cars the last years (Escort Cosworth, ex-WRC Xsara, fiat 500 with a bike engine, couple Escort Mk1 & 2's,...)
- Tros-Marêts (close to Malmedy) also in september. Haven't been myself, but should be worth the trip
- Montée Historique Du Maquisard (Theux, very close to Spa) in august. Haven't been to the race, but have driven the track/that road dozens of times (at the legal limit, officer )

Living the dream yet again Hahahaha thanks, but I would have to reply yet again that it's still very far from living the dream. Only difference with my visit to the rally is that this time it wasn't raining, everything else is still the same story: the same basic camera gear, sandwiches from the day before and, most importantly, not driving the course myself Jealous!! Had planned on going to this but apparently a new kitchen was more important to my wife... Should have told her that they sell sausages so she doesn't need a kitchen! Really want to go back, it's something you don't seem to get anywhere else, and an experience not to be missed. Climbing up along the edge of embankments with a 20ft drop to one side just to get a better view, sitting atop a pile of felled trees, eating cheap and tasty sausage and steak sandwiches. Exactly! The atmosphere surrounding these events is just awesome and down to earth. Too bad most of the races are "a bit" further away than this one, but I'm trying to convince some people to go and look at the St-Ursanne race...

I guess every petrolhead has looked at Youtube-videos of old Opels, VW polo's or ground effects-cars racing up a German or Swiss mountainroad while producing heavenly noises. If you haven't, I would suggest you do it. Like, now. And turn the volume up, really high! The problem with a video is that it's still only a video. Hearing those lovely induction noises coming from a single cammed 8-valve VW's in real life, storming through the forest still half a mile from the place your standing, while drinking beer and eating "ein würscht"... Well, that kind of beats sitting behind your laptop. So, after a first visit last year me and a friend (the others preferred sleeping 'till noon...useless ) were off to Luxemburg to hear some noise, eat some meat and drink some beer. Still have to go through my footage, but have some tasters: _DSC7112 bewerkt by G C, on Flickr _DSC7139 bewerkt by G C, on Flickr _DSC7161 bewerkt by G C, on Flickr Ex-BTCC-chassis. _DSC7180 bewerkt by G C, on Flickr _DSC7208 bewerkt by G C, on Flickr _DSC7251 bewerkt by G C, on Flickr
