From your for sale thread for the car, datman said... "Nice. I will be getting mine back on the road (last on road 15 years ago) Mine is a petrol one. I will be putting it up for sale later this year." Ask him how much he is selling his for, to get an idea of costings. Good thought, PMing him now

id say maket value of that is about 3.5k if its as clean as it looks, massive rarity value and people will pay strong money for these older commercials in good order. there was a mazda b2000 in similar condition fetched around 2750 not that long ago. but as noted, market value is irrelevant if you cant buy one. its down to compensating you fairly, and if you cant buy one in the uk, then you do need to be looking to import. id try speaking to datman, hes an independent classic datsun/nissan specialist so can speak with some authority on the subject. It was amazingly clean, that's what make this so much worse. I'm going to phone Axa commercial directly tomorrow and see if I can talk to someone there. I'm going to stick to my guns on this, not sure how much use accident exchange are to be fair so may just circumvent them and try talk to Axa myself.

Have a look on trademe.co.nz they're plentiful there then add 2.5k for shipping Awesome, lots on there. How assertive can I be in terms of this? I can imagine they are going to try and laugh me off when I suggest that this is how they should value my car. What are my rights in terms of fighting them undervaluing my truck?

Try eBay Australia/New Zealand maybe? Easier to read and transport costs won't be massively different. Do you have a receipt from when you bought it? Any details of import costs etc? I just bought it locally, quite a lot of history but not the original import docs etc. Good idea re eBay, I'll have a look.

I'd try to find one for sale in Japan. Get a quote for transport to the UK including all taxes/fees etc. That will be near enough the replacement cost. I'll give this a go tonight. Wish me luck, no idea where to start

So I'll ring the storage place tomorrow to try and get it back, I'm struggling to find any evidence and that is going to be the problem I think.

My claim is being dealt with by Accident exchange(regretfully) less than impressed with them! Lesson learned.
How do you mean deal directly with her in what terms?
I think I may phone Axa directly tomorrow and see if I can find out their reasoning, literally no idea where they got their £500 quid from.

By law you have to be put back into the position you were in before the accident. Fine in theory, a bit more difficult in practice. Is it your fully comp insurance who've made the offer, or her's? You could insist the vehicle is repaired if it is at all feasible, but you really want to be dealing with her insurers direct, not your own. That is the offer from her insurance, never been in this situation before so not sure of my options. Can I speak directly to her insurer(Axa commercial)?

Looks awesome! Well done dude. Thanks dude. Any joy with finding a car? Not yet, left it with Giles to keep an eye out. Trying to sort out some insurance curse word at the moment so that's taking precedent, may need a little runnabout soon in the meantime.

Here's the basic story. I had an accident in the Nissan, the other driver was at fault and liability accepted. The vehicle has just been written off and their valuation is.......£500. Now I have to prove it is worth what I think it is and not what they think it's worth. Here it is prior to some BLEEP not looking where she was going.

The next best would be to look at replacement costs (like an insurance valuation). We had to do this for our 400E after it got smashed up earlier this year. We found comparable examples (only 2 though) that were for sale and added on top the cost of our engine conversion It's for insurance valuation purposes, I can't find any to compare it too......stumped

Hi, only way is to get it valued by an independent? Any suggestions? Someone who takes in to account rarity/classics etc

How can I prove the value of my Nissan WD21 when there is nothing to compare it too?!?! It's for insurance valuation purposes.
Any advice from those experienced in these matters?
Thanks

Aww, that's not so good, such a shame as it looked quite a pretty little truck before hand. Hopefully it can be repaired. Hope you were all ok. I was pretty beat up after but nothing broken, the offending driver broke her foot but aside from that was very lucky. Still awaiting news regarding repair. I'd be amazed but over the moon if they can repair the truck but I'm not holding my breath as it seems a long shot.

I quite like the look of this. What is it, how bad is it, can it be fixed, do you have any more pictures? Show them to us, I need more more MORE!!! I can tell you it's a Nissan D21, we got them over here but they all seem to have disappeared now.... Much like the VW Taro which was just a re-badged Toyota Hilux Yeah it's Nissan WD21, D21 being the pick up variant, It's currently awaiting inspection from the liable insurance company. Here's a rough idea....
