Do you have a paint factors near you Phil? Using their swatch cards you will find a pretty close match of colour then just order a litre or half litre and then no trying to match. Ok, it might be a little off, but it will look far better than red oxide (and red oxide is not waterproof).

Just to clarify - the BIVA book states 300mm or less for brake & fuel pipes ONLY. No specs for any other pipes/hoses. As for wiring - no specs for that except it should be secured well (which is sensible).

Don't bother with an airbrush - far better to use a 0.8 or 1mm tip touch up gun from Home Depot. You will get very passable results with that and they will spray a dot from 5mm up to 100mm quite easily so you will have good control over where the paint goes. You can even spray epoxy primer with this size tip - just thin it a little more.

Wiring is 60% theory and 40% actual work. Both unfortunately are extremely time consuming.

Relax Paul, they will be very happy with what they see. The test is really not as bad as you think, it's just an in depth MOT.

You will probably need a changeover relay for that switch. This is the wiring for it for a lucas wiper motor. L = low speed H = High speed P = Park B = battery feed from fuseboard

What is your budget for doing this? What country are you in? Can you legally do this conversion in your country? I reckon minimum £20,000 plus parts for someone to do it for you - that's if they even know what they are doing............

Not too much to report, stereo is an improvement on the Kenwood, had 3 phone calls while driving but all spam/fraud so no chance of testing how well it works yet. Kenwood got sold fast as well, so all good there. My car has been running a bit lean for far longer than it should have been ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png) but the recent hot weather at the Supernats & towing made it pink badly *feeling guilty for not doing it before* so I finally got around to doing something about it. Richened both primary & secondary jets 1 stage bigger and went one spring stiffer on the vacuum needles. Engine is far happier now - I think it's still a little lean on part throttle off cruise but it's definitely the right direction. As such I was keen to see what the fuel consumption would be like with it richer - would it be worse, better, the same??? Driving up to the hot rod drags it did 19.5mpg so not bad - a little less than before for motorway cruising but fair enough. Driving home we got split up as a convoy so I drove on my own at a steady 65-70mph all the way with a couple of heavy /busy sections on the M1 but did an extremely respectable 22.5mpg!! so really pleased with that - the engine is obviously much happier now.

As a bodge you can remove all of the flaking laquer, scotchbrite the rest and re-laquer & polish. It wont be great but will look reasonably good for a while.
