Not 100% sure on wheels yet, the originals (first photo) are nice but are 14", I think I need at least 15" possibly 16", but choices are limited if you want a direct fit. The second photo has 15" Rota BM8 Honda, as far as I know they slip straight in. The original do polish up well though, picture below shows a quick test just by hand polishing, with machine polishing these will be back to mirror finish. If anyone has any other ideas, 4x114.3 15-17" I'm all ears!

I take it you'll still be able to shut the bonnet?! Haha, yes dude, I've measured about 300 times, even with the shock nut and pin thread sticking out of the arch the bonnet will have at least 1.5" clearance, phewww, wipe brow moment!

Began the process of raising the shock strut towers, so firstly the aim is to make space in the wheel arch for the extended piece. Once this is located correctly the next step will be to cut a large enough hole in both the existing tower and the new metal. The weld the piece in place and test fit the air shock, should make good progress this bank holiday weekend.

Wow thanks^^ much appreciated, but I'm not the only one in the world to have put a car on air. Yes the line of this particular car looks as awesome as awesomeness can get when lowered but there is a long way to go yet and I want to car to ride as well as it looks and that means making sure there is enough air in the shocks to maintain ride quality. The next job on the list is adding to the shock towers, should been done in the next couple of weeks. :-) Thanks for the great comments.

So after mocking up the suspension it's now obvious that I will need to raise the shock towers. Sp This weekend, apart from many other jobs, I mocked up a cardboard box section that I will need to add to the shock top. The section will be welded onto the top shock mount, this photo below is a very rough idea of the position, in actual fact the section will need to enter into the wheel arch. Few other images. Hand brake cable had seized, but is now free. Slowly getting there.

Ok, so last night I had the chance to properly test fit the front air shock and although I will reach the desired height with the shock at its maximum deflation I won't however have enough air in the shock to have reasonable ride quality. So with this in mind I think I will raise the shock tower 1.5" to 2" so that desire ride height and ride quality are achieved. Just need to source some box section to start the process, I will need to open up the front inner arch to accommodate the raised tower, won't be a major problem as the body is grp. :-)

Impressive stuff, seems to be coming together quickly Keep it up! Thanks, long way to go yet, I think the front strut towers will need raising to gain the drop I want, however I need to get all 4 shocks in place first, see where the lowered height is without modification then if I need to make adjustments to the strut towers I will. In either case should be a major job just time consuming. Cheers guys.

Air strut test fitted, rear wheels are tucked nicely in the arch, very happy. Strut bolts straight in.

Look what came in the post last night, Monroe air shocks in the box! Come with all the fittings. Shock test fitted. They will need a little fettling to get the lowered height I want, may have to open up the tower slightly, but nothing major, they almost slot straight in. All good, just need to fit them now and see how low I can go. Looks like a 3.5" to 4" drop is feasible :-D

Ohhh bet thats not cheap ;/ still it will be worth it this is deffo right up my street cant wait for more... eBay estimate for import tax was £60 odd quid, I've budgeted for £100, shocks were dirt cheap so I should be up in respect to sourcing and buying them here.

Damnn this is gonna look good, if you get it finished and looking like that photoshop, it will definitely need some photos next to 'that' Lotus Espirit Funnily enough, he got to the Esprit before I did, I had and found an S2 Esprit in very original condition and the plan was to put it on air just around the same time he started modifying his, have to say what a stunning car he has produced, if this comes out anywhere near as good as that Esprit I will be over the moon. Anyway as I started to go through the car it was just too good to tamper with so I backed away form 'playing' with it so to speak. So my attention turned to the Elite, of which I could see would look ubber cool slammed. So here we are, let's see how it turns out. All the best, Charlie ;-)
