i ran a second alternator on my CROWN back in the day. it was a ford cargo 24v unit i did a good job at keeping the charge up and was switchable between each bank.i use to give them a good 24v charge too though after heavy use using a sealey 12/24v charger.

very late update here, been a bit busy. managed to get the leaf springs swapped and worked out well. had to move the rear spring hangers back a couple of inches. front struts are done and again well happy with how they've worked out, its as low as i can get it and still use it. after all the hunting world wide for wings i was resigned to fixing my bent ones and almost had them ready for paint when i got a message on a forum from a guy in ireland who wanted my hubcaps so we struck a deal for a good wing. . then as luck would have it a nos wing for the other side turned up on ebay. i don't belive in luck, i bloody rely on it! other jobs have been head off for rebuild, interior in,total pain in the back side of a job finding track rod ends, finishing up the paint and brakes i'm now to the point of just a few more things to do before mot.

ive got a press that i intended to dechamber the originals with. think i will do the same with the capri ones too. ive got lowering blocks i can use but want it most of the way there first. i press the springs at both ends working in every 3" end at a time, it saves putting any kinks in them but takes time and restrant. just hope the spring measurements are close enough for them to fit.

small update. managed to get the tailgate sprayed and fitted last weekend so only both wing to do now and that will be the bodywork done. . kind of been dragging my heals with the wings, hopefully wishing for some sort divine intervention and a pair of new ones falling into my lap but no. to keep the momentum going i started to get the rear springs stripped down to dechamber them but as i was about to start cleaning them up I've noticed both the main leaves have cracks in .cant see me sourcing others so after a bit of measuring i think i can get Capri ones to fit. there the same width and length and i can always offset the locating pin to sit the correctly in the arches, should be an upgrade to as i'll be using new 2.8i parabolic springs. also found some old caddy van shocks in the garage that are nice and short. i now have all the kit to do the coil-overs,including 225lb springs and bilstien golf mk1 inserts that are a huge amount shorter than the datsuns originals and will give me a useable amount of travel again. as i know its only write to add a pic, I've got a tyre fitted and set up in the arch at the ride height. it will end up adjustable height on the rear as i will make some extended shackles to drop it onto the bump stops. .
