aha ground was the word is was looking for, I have done that and the gauge moves but I will check it again, because I don't know where I tested. maybe the sensor I got now is also faulty? we will see. about the oil filter: On my engine block I have this. A blind plate in the same position where you can put a oil filter. I only haven't dared to remove it to see what is behind

Thank all, I had to take the new rims off again, they were leaking badly on the rim itself. so I have to take the tyres of first and refurbish them a bit.
Friday I went to work with the 850, but unfortunatelly the temp. sensor/indicator still doesn't work. Next thing I will checht is the "earth" going to the engine. maybe that is the problem?
I have cleaned the centrifugal filter already once. on my engine it is possible to fit a external oil filter, but I didn't check that yet.
The fenders are staying, at least I am not planning to take them of. I only need to fix them. and they have some dents etc. but I don't care.
A sports exhaust would be nice, but they cost serious money

I recently picked up some ATS classic rims, they are 4x100 but fit the 850 with wobblebolts(is that the correct name)? Sorry for the bad picks but they were made in the garage and I couldn't move the car outside. I only think I need 2 new tires, I inflated them but they are flat again.. And I have to think of something to make the wheels centre properly. I also have found another second hand watertemperature sensor, mine seemed to be bent and cracked. I also didn't have the chance to test if this sensor works.

Hi Mike, a real OTR, nice. do you have the original engine? I like it!
What type of waterpump is on the green 600? and which electric fan do you use. the fan fits very nice on the radiator. and what engine is in the 600? a 903?
my 850 also needs to be painted some day, but I also like a more ratty look. As long as the mechanics a working tiptop and it is reliable.

Nice collection! I really like the OTR, is it an original OTR?
Love the mint coloured 600! I like the ratty look of it. the red one is pretty old, it still has suicide doors

Hi John, About extending the kingpin mount, how do you know the angle in which you need to mount the extentions? Nobody can really tell me. I am planning to lower the car this way, but I am afraid to get the angle wrong..

Thank you nmretro, but for now it's ok. It is just an extra, since I shapped to a dashboard/speedo of a 850 special. I probably can find one second hand in the Netherlands. But thank you for your offer.

Hi nmretro, That is a nice looking header, what motorcycle headers are you looking for? You found anything pretty close to the 850 cilinder head?
I have another question, does any of you 850 or 600 guys have a replacement for the temperature sensor(the sensor, not the switch)? mine is broken, but I refuse to pay €40,- for a new one.. The problem is the small t-piece with the hoses from the thermostat to the waterpump. This causes the sensor being more like a banjo-bolt(or how its called in English)
have you got any ideas? Or does any of you know the correct resistance for the sensor. And is it correct the thread is M14x1,5? I could skip the t-piece and just screw the sensor directly in the cilinderhead.

The exhaust from the coupe already made a difference. When I got the car it still had the original exhaust on it. Due to the Dutch MOT I needed a new one. And I liked the look of the 4 in 1 exhaust and hoped it would help getting a few more horses.
But a sports exhaust would be nice also. Did you also make the headers yourself? another future plan is to make one

Hello Ditchdigger, I think that in total I have gone through your thread for 3-4 times and you did great work on the 850! You really did some amazing fabrication. and I love the wheels, they look great on a 850 sedan.
I have a question, if I remember correctly you lowered the car with the Faza block under the leafspring and you extended the stub axle(is this the correct word?)(where the leafspring connects at the wheel side) I even have seen pictures of it somewhere, but I have gone over your thread again, but I cannot find them anymore.
when you welded the extensions, how did you know the angle to use? I think I will use this method to lower the front of my 850. but nobody can tell me the angle to weld them. The rear I just want to cut something of the coil

And @ ditchdigger, only respect to you sir! love the work you do on your 850! Amazing! and very inspiring to get working on the car The car is pretty clean, but not way as badass as your car.
other plans: In the future I hope to find some nice wheels for my 850..sometime. But most of them are pretty expensive. Also because of the Fiat 4x98 bolt pattern of course 4x100 will fit, but then the centre of the wheels are to small in diameter

Thank you, it isn't in the best condition. it is good and a nice driver. it needs to be painted, specially the fenders, but that is way too expensive in the netherlands interior: and with my little helper, the bad spots; and next to my bosses Tesla(drives great by the way, but not very retro)

Well, I have enjoyed looking around this forum for some time now. So here is my own thread about my fiat 850 sedan. I have this car now for 3 years, before I had a Renault 4 which I rebuilt with a Alpine Turbo engine. This built was real fun, but also the biggest mistake I made with this car.. It was really to much power for it. And after I switched to a Renault 5 gt turbo setup instead of the normal Alpine setup. I killed it..the Fuel return line was to small in diameter for the electric fuel pump. So pure gazoline was getting inside the engine/oil etc. I rebuilt the engine, but never drove it after that. I sold it, also because our first son was born. the day it left; Then in search for a new R4, I found the little fiat 850 The car came from Italy originally and had been sitting in a storage for a couple of years. I think i am the 3rd owner since new. Coming from Italy means almost no rust. It is still at the beginning of all the italian rust problems. I only upgrade to the exhaust of a 850 coupe and put a weber 30 dic on it. my 850 is a super. this means it has disc brakes in the front and a cilinder head of a 850 coupe. the standard 850 has 34hp, mine should have 37. next plans are keep it original and keep it on the road. plans are to lower it a bit and put adjustable koni's all around. I had these on the R4 and they worked out great. They are already mounted on the front. Only the back still has to be done.

Hi john, Been looking at your thread since the beginning, but never registered myself to the retrorides forum. Love your 850! I have a 850 sedan myself
nice to see how people use parts from other brands for their 850. Especially the elctric pump from a mercedes i like. Does this setup still work okay for you?
how did you lower the front of your car? and how did the empi steering coupler work out, did it improve steering a bit?
