My brother visited a local yard about 15 years ago and found a chap about to drive a one owner from new mk1 1800 marina estate in. Having stopped it from being crushed the owner then drove it to my house the following weekend and for £50 it was mine. I used it as a daily for several years, including dragging a caravan from here in cornwall to Wales for a weeks hols, until 2009 when it was sold due to me loosing my workshop. Its now owned by a retro ride member and its refered to as MUD. Ive also since heard its being restored. Getting pretty rare now so glad to hear its being sorted.

Hi to anyone out there who might be interested.I have a few pics of updates on the car.Ive managed to get all the front end back together with new halogen headlights, tinted the sidelight lenses and removed the orange filter on the indicator lights. Ill be upgrading to led units to make sure its all bright enough on the road. Ive made up the tray for the battery in the boot and added a cut off switch, just in case. Ive still got to make a housing for the cd multi changer. Ive also fitted a seperate fuse box so i can add a cig lighter socket to use as a charge point and also for convenient power supply to run the boot lights. Ive been busy with some campervan material and made up paneling for the boot. Just needs some brackets to tie it all in, but makes the boot area a lot better to look at. I also incorporated some mg f interior lights into the panels for boot illumination. Not much has happened under the bonnet, just been sorting out the last of the wiring and tidying stuff up. Cheers for looking any feedback is appreciated.

Ok so i have a set of 13 inch steel wheels that are stamped from factory as being 5j wide, I'm guessing means 5 inch wide. Thing is i have no idea how wide i can go from the norm with tyre sizes. At the rear i was hoping to go approx 2 inches wider as i have the room, but on the front 1 inch on the outer edge is i guess my limit.Could anyone give me an idea of tyre size that would then fit. I have seen minilites that are 6 x 13 and 7 x13, but havent got a clue as to what size tyres would fit the equivalent width steel rims. Many thanks for any advice.

Ok some more info for those asking. Still can't alter the pic size tho sorry. I'll try again tommorrow. It's a 180hp kv6 motor from a 2002 breaker using a modified factory loom. I've removed airbag junk etc. So far I've spun the intake around 180 degrees to get everything to fit,mg f radiator. I've altered the mgb bellhousing to take the stock starter, alternator going to be a squeeze, but I think it'll fit. I've used land rover engine mount rubbers on modified marina 1800 brackets to bolt it in. Had to make new box mounts and spin the box clockwise approx 10 degrees to make it fit better. I'll use an old modified cut down prop I have to connect it all with a converter of some sort to the mgb box output. A friend of mine is making a spigot bush and I've got plans in my head on how to sort the clutch. Inside is a cut down rover 75 dash over the stock marina heater unit with a modified steering column from a mg f with electric power steering. Wiper motor is now under the dash cos I ran outta room in the engine bay and because marina wiper boxes are hard to find I've altered a rover 45 wiper linkage and spindles to fit. Still needs a ton of work to finish plus brake mods etc but plans are to get a run out of it by Easter. I need to make exhausts and cooling pipes from scratch and I've had to alter the headers to fit. Like I mentioned earlier it'll be stock from outside other than maybe underriders and some bashing and banded tc rims. Hopes that's not too boring a read. Thanks for the interest.

Ok, so firstly sorry for the quality of the photos, me and computers really don't get on. It started life as a super deluxe teal blue 1800 coupe. This has been my ongoing project that i bought as my first car way back in 1991. Since buying it for £70 its been my daily driver, had a full bare shell rebuild/ resto and up until a few years ago was running a triumph 2500 with overdrive. However most projects never seem to get completely finished and after being laid up for a while i decided it needed an update. Out went the triumph lump and last year in went a 2500cc kv6 motor from a mg zs 180 that i broke for spares for my daily. After making up engine mounts using landie parts the engine bolted onto the original 1800 b series brackets and slid right in just !!. Its currently got a mgb gt overdrive box mated to it using a conversion plate i made along with homemade gearbox mounts onto the original marina gearbox fixings. After some advice from retro ride forum members ive used the complete loom out of the breaker to solve any immobilizer issues. Inside ive modified a rover 75 dash, fitted mgf electric power steering and rover 45 black leather seats.Outside i want to keep it stock except for a bit of low and some banded tc rims. Theres a lot still to do but I'm hoping to get the lump up and running within the next few months. More pics to follow if i aint bored you all too much.Any comments or advice is welcome and thanks for looking.

Hi chaps after a bit of knowledge. I'm fitting a rover kv6 motor in my 70s coupe and need a suitable fuel pump to run it. Apparently in the zs 180 that the engine came from runs at 3.5 bar. Can anyone recommend a supplier or make for me. Cheers in advance for any help and I'll post pics when I can.

Hello to all those in the know. I would like some advice on fitting the edis system before I jump on in. Could someone tell me if its possible to fit the edis system to the rover kv6 engine. I'm planning on fitting one of these lumps into a 70s project I have kicking around and was hoping to use this aftermarket system for the ignition as I don't have the fobs and ecu from the donor car. Cheers in advance for any advice and if the answer is favourable I hope to post a new thread asap.

Just been for a trip to the local yard and came across not one or two,but three lancia beta spiders. All seems complete and relatively rust free. But i don't know a thing about these and was wondering if anyone would be interested in any parts or would know someone who would be. The engines are the twin cam variety and seem to be complete. Are they the same or similiar to the fiat twin cam and if so anyone interested for a sleeper etc. They wont be there for very long so if theres anyone out there who could need anything please pm me. Sorry for no pics but technology is way beyond me.

I have an intermotor ignition coil, part number 12202. I bought it to fix my stepsons '88 nova but it wasn't the fault. It's brand new, a little grubby, but i guess would be quite handy as a spare for anyone. It's got the male ht pin. I spose its worth a tenner plus something for postage,pm me if anyones interested, cheers
