Well, the servo is now bypassed and I'm shocked to say the brake pedal if anything actually feels better than ever, so I'm not sure if the servo has ever been 'right'. Just need a couple of slow test drives around the block now to see how it fairs - then maybe even a trip out to Snetterton for Retro Kings on 25th Sept.

At £107 I think this is the one I'll go for, that 75mm entry has been the most impressive so far and the lift height is still adequate.

If I can get my brakes sorted then I might make the Journey from Ipswich . It looks pretty good.

Crikey , the closed height of that one is pretty impressive at 75mm the other one sits a little too high, but is properly cheap!

Cheers Chaps. The moss one looks good, but I fear it may struggle lifting the p4 . Again the Ebay link looks reasonable but at 98mm would require the car on wood blocks to get it under. I'll keep searching an will post back my findings if anyone else is also looking.

What have people got / what would you reccomend?.
Loads on ebay ranging from, £30 generic (not sure if i'd trust it) , to well over £150 (not sure i'd need it)
ideally looking at 85mm/90mm entry - or less if that's possible.
any generic jobbies that anyone has found to be good or brands to avoid would be great. My old trusty jack is too much of a faff to get under the car.

Back needs to be lower dude I thought That, but the more I look at it the more I like the nose down Stance, plus it's far easier to get it in the garage with a bit of clearnce at the back. Anyway, before all of that, I need to get a new servo. Looks Like a £120 part should sort it. I'm not going for the standard Girling MK2a as it's massively overpriced. Apparently until that arrives I can bypass the servo and have non assisted brakes - fine for shuffling round the block and on the driveway.

It's out, looks pretty good I think. Got ready for a show on Sunday morning . . . Then the servo failed so no brakes and no show for the car. Arsehats!

Ignoring the flat tyre, the arch gap on these p4's stock is huge, so as we all know, it had to be hit with the stick. So it was out with the suspension, which aside from two bolts all came apart remarkably easily Then came the chop - in hindsight perhaps a touch too much, but hey ho , it still rolls and turns Then back together and back on the ground to see how low I'd gone - answer LOW! Looks meaner from the front now, and has a fairly impressive rake, I think the back will need to come down too, I've not seen it out of the garage yet to see how far though. Elsewhere on the car I've started to smooth the bootlid after a bit of help form Dez to knock in the high spots starting to get somewhere with it now I think. cheers for looking.

ah yeah, undersized for my needs. But thanks very much for the offer! I don't want anything, I need to thin out my collection of "usefull one day stuff" but it came off a 2.25 so might be a bit undersized. While I am at it anyone want a radio / cd player for free? I have a couple of these which are no longer needed as we replaced them with blue tooth ones (they are cheap single din ones but worked fine).

is it the same engine as the landrover? If so I have a fairly new Weber single choke carb from my old land rover in the loft you can have , probably needs a clean out (progression holes can block up) but it ran Ok when removed. I 'think' I have the issue sorted , but that is a very kind offer kevins. It is the same 2.6 straight 6 as landy. How much do you want for it out of interest? as it would potentially make a nice upgrade.

Need to have a car day soon dude. Not seen you in ages Yes mate, that would be good! definately want to be on road for the nats this year. Got some lowering blocks to fit on the rear , springs to chop on the front, and on last start up it seems the carb is not shutting off so is curse word out of the overflow. other than those minor things, and barring any disaster I should be well on track.

Cheers Guys - Had a bit of a paint disaster. I tried using an electric spray gun , which worked great on a test panel . Tackled the car and screwed it up, very spotty where the gun spat and dripped .sanded bought more paint - anyway turns out I ordered the wrong paint - but fortunately - I like it better . Same colour, but in semi-gloss just needs a bit of a tidy and touch up coats where I've missed bits / oversprayed , My garage is too small to get far enough away to see what you are actually doing. so It's outside now to inspect it in daylight (it's rained every day since I got it outside). Pretty pleased with how it's looking now though considering the whole car still owes me less than £600 . It's never going to be mint, but looking back at the first picture I'd say I've not done too badly.

So, I've finally mad a bit more progress , starting with sorting some of the accident damage the car had when it came to me. I've also started smoothing the bonnet in this pic A test coat of my chosen colour , not to everyones taste I'm sure. It's a Military satin , in aircraft blue I'll then start altitude adjustments and hope to see the tail end of this years shows, Main one for me being the Nats at trinity park as it's just down the road.

have a look at industrial paint suppliers or military paint supplies - cheaper and often more hard wearing than hammerite.

Hi All , I am in the process of painting (with rollers) my P4 Project - with an aircraft blue , military satin paint .
my question is - can you wet sand Satin to flat back or is that going to either shine it up or just completely ruin the finish?
I guess the obvious answer is do a test panel, but has anyone previously tried it?
cheers all .
and a secondary question , if I thin the last couple of coats , is that likely to give me a smoother finish? I'm not looking for a pro finish, but something that looks half decent would be good.
Cheers
