Top work on the pass !! It's unreal re advisories nowadays - a little while ago I put a 911 in for MoT with a friendly local garage before putting it up for sale... went through the car to make sure all was OK beforehand and sure enough it passed - but with an advisory for a minor oil leak The engine was dry as a bone so I called them to ask 'What oil leak, there wasn't an oil leak yesterday?' Their reply (and bear in mind a potential purchaser viewing the MoT history online would see this as a potential £10k bill) 'You're right, sorry - our mistake - but no we can't delete it from the history, sorry about that' Unbefeckinlievable ... made me properly Victor Meldrew, I can tell you Anyway, apologies for the further thread diversion - as you were !! Cheers Matt

I'm glad I am not the only one seeing this! There are a lot of cars I had MOTed a few years ago I am sure wouldn't get a ticket now. Bonkers strategy when combined with the foxing stupid MOT exemptions for pre '79 rustastic tat. Just to make life more fun the throttle cable in the Metro snapped this evening when retrieving it from the MOT station having collected the Bentley. Thankfully it was walking distance but it lead to an interesting drive with dubious use of molegrips. Oh, and the MX5 also ran out of MOT today and is booked in for the morning so I will be back to getting the train to work! James The train's broken too? Keep up the great work - these old girls are so fantastic & you're doing her very proud indeed. Chapeau Cheers Matt

Hi Sorry I didn't mean to put a downer on your ideas it's just that I have been competing in sprints at Goodwood since 1994 and know how tight for timing sprint events can be if you have any delays due to any incidents on track which is more likely when you go from a track event to a full on competitive event. Just saying if something has worked well for 2 year's why complicate it. Unfortunately whilst it has worked reasonably well it’s more Retro Rides does Goodwood rather than Retro Rides at Goodwood - it’s a subtle difference but an important one - Retro Rides does shows/track events that “we” want to go to - Goodwood so far has been doing what Goodwood do and it’s not us. Last year the Autosolo was the highlight of my weekend albeit poorly attended (number of reasons for that which I really haven’t time to go into) In a nutshell we aren’t going to keep doing what we have done because that becomes predictable We're going to do it anticlockwise?

I have begun to hover towards the name "Hillbilly Cadillac" for the car. But it's a bit long. Billy Bigboll0ck?

Should be able to sharpen the punches, i use the fine stone on my bench grinder. And / or repurpose other tough tubular items the same way - can't for the life of me remember what the gaskets were for but we reused old cam followers bitd

The gear selection pedal jammed up so it felt really solid instead of feeling like a clutch and after a bit of research it turned out the fix it a bit of old fashioned brute force, basically you just put push it back down hard and it goes back to normal Yep had that with a 37 Armstrong Siddely with the kids in the back thinking I'd borked it and £££ bill on the way - ran home to the webz while they enjoyed a Maccie D's looked it up ran back to the car (a mile each way) sorted it & they barely registered I'd been gone !!!
