been doing bits and bobs, bought this donor mg zr for dash all wiring as its a basic curse word easy one no sunroof, no abs, no electric windows, no central locking, also cut the sill steps out that i needed too sick of being hard to push in (well finish the car i wouldnt have to) so binned off the rear brakes, adjusted handbrake off and greased shoes + raised it up and stopped wheels rubbing shocker due to camber on oneside needed upper steps butting back in on both sides still a small patch to do on other side ready for new lower sills to arrive, door was removed for better access, only rework that needs is the 4 holes in the step will need the plugs that go into them shortening due to the sill tube so basically nothing bit of hot snot and fettling only section of panel to dip on me that was annoying, used a DA with 120 shows every flaw, used finger file and fettling to get it 95% in metal so only a skim of filler few minor divits, slightly off with the cut so had to fill a gap that with for half, used alloy block on back to help the weld pool chips alcohol and powertools is fine + i get to top up on the tan with the welding i have to sort the steering wasnt happy with what i did before so stripped down a mg, impreza and legacy colum to work it out, using a stock zr column with a extended lower piece that is off for maching + the below far left is a legacy steering joint, left is a zr one and right upper is a impreza one, they all have different spline sizes and counts but the UJ's are the same in with and diameter so i put a subaru lower and a zr upper together to to make one that will go between, i will extend the lower shaft length to fit this, still to come Ash

Well doing 14-16 hour days for 6 weeks finally caught upto me caught a 72 hour bug that was the straw, supra wont be going to USC this year so just going to take my time and get it done for ultimate stance on november the 3rd in my home town a minor issue made all the stop cable in place and outer sheath pulley back after a few uses, curse word one of those small jobs, made up a water pipe locator to stop it from rubbing the crank pulley i obtained a metric ...load of wiring supplies all the various crimps, connectors various looms conduit bus bars fuse panels bus bars you get the idea yeah a mess of looms, did pull the electric window system out of the rover a pretty basic but good simple system that gets rid of 4 relays and makes that jobby easy a pic showing heat shielding for starter and master cylinder etc alot of messing about to get it to be correct and coming across clearance issues internally only being able to get 3 aft gears but oil/greased sealed and booted shes like an old rifle exhaust done and on, i dig it the most important thing to be done on a holset, removal of the silencer ring oh yeah, all boost pipes coated, rockers blacked and coated with new seals, intake plate had to be fettled for fuel line clamps but its all on Ash

And this popped up in mine: engineswapdepot.com/?p=43424Seems Google likes your build. You should upload some YouTube videos and make some ad money. Hey unfortunately i have a face for radio and a voice for silent film Propshaft back from balancing, painted up and new bolts etc and put on...for good hopefully going through those horrible jobs, bare rose joints will fail and mot and not last too long so covered in grease and ball joint rubber boots stuck on to cover them all, 6 per side total they fit pretty well can barely see them heat shields to help deal with the turbo trying to cook everything, exhaust downpipe and lower piece wrapped and 3 shields currently in place, not sure if i will do another one across the bulkhead or forwards , not the prettiest due to bends but will work unfolded the bare sheet will take a pic when I'm under the car as its in place, covers part of the floor but mainly the underside of the starter motor, 0.9mm zintec plate to help keep its shape over time, folded over edges to help it keep its shape well without it this one ontop of the turbo, even the exhaust is going matt black, ran out of VHT 2 cans not enough to do the whole system Ash

car stays outside during the days atm due to being flat out in work, nice dint in the door... turbo pipes and intake all done, just got to flare the ends then powdercoat them hotside upper hotside lower cold side lower intake/coldside upper managed to get quite the bulge to start and try to clear the intake, in the end i split the skin after getting it out by about 40mm removed and painted/sealed upper and lower water outlets and other brackets then put them on for good getting there, few cables starting to go in intake checked to make sure it still fits fluidampr front pulley, arp bolts and barring tool for suture proofing pulley etc on, brackets painted sealed and new bolts all in place for good, swapped over oil temp + pressure while doing other little jobs like clip placements touch ups etc yeah nah curse word will put a power bulge over it fettled ages with the throttle cable to run it mostly out of site, tiny little bracket to hold it, made from a universal kit and factory cable ends with some bodging and agri spec spray jobby of cover it all should get my propshaft back tomorrow and hopefully new bushes and gaskets for the selector Ash

Neat idea on the spacer/P clips. I used a big P clip & squashed it into a large double wide P for a similar reason but I may look again to see if your way would work better for me. With the ally tubing - why didn't you buy some 90 or 180 degree bends and chop them around? a single 3" 90 bend will cost me around £22 would need a fair few and straight sections to join them all, or i can get a 3 meter length of 3" ali tubing for £30 to my door so it works out alot cheaper, more work but i but the pies on a short and long radius so i can change and tweak it as i go i do have some cheap tools that are pretty good and use daily, best one i would say is a set of kennedy spanners as there slim in width so perfect to use the open end on caliper sliders, i went through a stage of buying blue point spanner sets for some unknown reason set still in the box under a band 4? years now got the selector welded on today with abit of extra weld on the lever slots, welded and cut back to suite, ordered new bushes gaskets and springs for it, bad day at work didnt stay over too long (if it needed to come off it snapped) 42/44mm higher pressure rad cap (as i want the other to open) stant racing normally pretty costly, but gates make them and can get them for just over a tenner (part number below) Ash

Abit of an update, made this water pipe, goes from the heater outlet to the lower section of the radiator with a T off to the coolant res, made out of 20mm galv conduit with a sealed T connector, threaded in place then welded shown in place at the back couldnt get anything to flare this small and thick of a pipe so blasted it with some high power weld to put a lip around it shows routing around the front, i did have to remove the engine mount to fit, there is also a mount to the engine to take its weight boost pipes, ive turned around 4.5m of 3" tubing into cuts so far i have around 2 hours cutting and almost the same in deburring turbo outlet 2.5" v band to a 3" adaptor these are going to be mixed up abit due to amount of pics and it being 0030 2 parts of intake and 2 halves of boost pipes for the first lot of welding 54 pieces in that pic showing post intercooler with silicone hump joint later stages of intake double flange and joint, mount made so it could be held correctly with a spacer as left flange is higher then the other intake and post intercooler pre intercooler another intake pic showing its shape hard to see but intercooler lower brackets made out and painted etc bungee cords and rubber washers to hold it all in place for figuring its routing out another simple job, literally a case of making it upside down and wrong way around, selector is of a LT77 gearbox, bought an adaptor to use it on the daf 45 box, only issue is its too short and when used the H pattern is the wrong way (as the selector housing is rear facing oppased to fowards like on a land rover) way to overcome this is to flip the pivot point like below cutting out the plate to essentially make a flat version of the right rough cut to flip the pivot to underslung alot of head scratching to get to this point, need to get selector welded to plate and some repair work to selector ball housing as its wallowed out, you can kind of see this below the centering spring as the peg is offset to the slot, i will also have to flip the selector stops after abit of welding 2 hosuings made into 1 and new rod machined to suite, i did have some alightment issues, basically fling sanding polishing and using valve lapping paste to get a nice movement you can see some of the heavy wear on the shorter rods due to there shine finishing off the fuel line mountings, no space to run the lines side to side on the chassis leg so spacer with a p clip top and bottom to get it all nice similar spacer jobby for the pas lines that run out of the way, i was short of 1 spacer so i drilled out a socket and used that too Ash

I'd recommend changing the fan to rad fixing. Fixings through the rad WILL chafe thorough in time causing rad failure. Make a plate/brackets to fit across the rad sides to mount the fan to. noted thanks, if the one fan isnt good enough il upgrade to a pair and do that, altho i have ran rear on identical setup in my fiat for 5-6? years with no issues other then having a fan pushed into the radiator core due to other circumstances Ash

coated and still fits been doing bits and bobs that take time 1.2" npt blank to a m10x1 sensor heater air blank to reduce flow from the engine bay to the intake of the heater propshaft adaptor fits like a glove propshaft ends put in place to work out tube length tube cut, will get it spun up on a lathe to make sure the ends of square and offset correctly then weld, new UJ's and off to balance front cross memeber capped off where it was slightly trimmed to fit and spacers painted then bolted up for good on the car another small job that takes up more time then it should, had to see but 2 lower intercooler mounts all radiusd edges painted 3" pipe pie cut for the boost pipes, all filed buy hand again, few straight cuts and a few wide and narrow bends made 2 new intake plates that will bolt on, 3 " hole saw down the middle then used an old intake spacer to get them pretty close bolt wise makes a 12" spal fan look tiny, fan switch bung wired on, will go inbetween the rad and intercooler so it will be fitten away to make the engine bay look cleaner and make use of dead space, another water outlet welded on the other side too cleance hole put in place for the new temp sensor the coolant res thats has been made, anything to help increase the coolant capacity res will go upto the heater and down to the radiator made a start on the gear selector mechanism, chopped up 2 housings to get the extra length with a selector rod inside to get the pretty close to lined up has been welded more, selector is pretty tight as its moved a tad i did end up using abit of 40 grit then polished it up with this finer stuff, had nothting long enough to get down there so used a long tail but the head off put a slit down the centre and put a piece of emmery cloth in here along with pinching it in the vice to hold it. did a loverly job Ash

length of 4" aluuuuuuminum pie cut and few straights cuts for the start of the induction system, lost my deburrer so hand filed them clean bit of tape into this bit of hot snot and powdercoat will do nicely, matt smooth sandpaper texture rock sliders off and all prepped 60 degree slash cuts and capped bit of powdercoat (cheers scott) roof rack was sticking out like a sore thumb in gloss so did the annoying job of removing it to be redone in matt black, decided this after putting all roof liner in etc the propshaft adaptor is done at great cost but it is bloody nice, older flange squared on the back with a tight milled fit and clearanced for the 3 other bolts, 3 other spacers are stepped and so they locate and hold it in place, alot more here to look at then first glance minor job blank off engine bay to heater feed, will need a rework at the top edge as scuttle isnt flat (measure once cut twice) actually have no pics of this but its all done and painted, crack test showing some weepage on the linished welds another time consuming job 11 rivets and 4 bolts holding this front to rear hose in place outside pic Ash

Hit one of those walls again of effort but heres abit of an update, need to start the wiring like 4 weeks ago but i hate it both front arches are on and trimmed back ready to make the front bumper, also bonnet has been trimmed you might notice the turbo only abit of poke made up the alternator brackets, ordered to belts 1 too short and 1 too long so just waiting for a special order belt for that the face when people say you shouldnt do that, also rock sliders made up, bit of grinding back to be done and tube ends cut made to make clutch and brake pedals up so using landrover pads and abit of 3mm flat to start with not too bad, clutch is adjustable left to right Ash

1 made up the downpipe 6 bolt flange to a V band all 3" bracket to hold the exhaust to the gearbox and making it removable, rough paper template then worked from that stainless bolts welded on use a studs for the other half mid pipe in place bit tight but has been painted and will be wrapped later on other half made, all been welded up and flashed back but no pic as of yet one of those small jobs that just take time like making a gasket for the turbo flange started on the brake lines, was going to run all braided but hel lines have a stupid end so i cant get them made up locally(only found this out after i ripped the other solid lines out, issue with that air strut too that i need to sort out, the bottom red section should be pretty much sat on the weld line like the other side waiting on P clips and thicker copper washers for the braided line there but cunifer pipe, after this was p clipped in place and tweeked so it didnt touch the bodywork on those ribs small getting job putting in air line fittings for the air assist clutch flashbanding sound proofing done on the floor bulkhead rear floor and side panels ner the door, each line on the stuff is me going over it with a roller to make sure it stuck on after cleaning the paint, took ages, also note the 4 black metal strips they are spreader plates with stainless bolts welded on for the rock sliders carpet test fit, to be expected doesnt exactly fit cut outs for the seat rails, i will have to do some cutting for the tunnel and make a few capping panels as it doesnt go under the rear board and after getting home at 11pm i realised i need to get eyebolts for the harnesses and put them in, i also have loads of foam to pack any low spots out and to help deaden the sound more exhaust video, bit smokey, clears up after its run and go diesel through it www.facebook.com/ashley.whitsey/videos/10157346853147710/just trying to push through the wall, getting slowed down by stuff like ordering around 200 quids worth of silicone hoses from a supplier for coolant hoses to be told after chasing it up items arnt in stock no due dates etc Ash

What a complete bar steward that driver was. CCT saved the day, but really to get out look to check your van is ok and then sod off is taking one. Did you have to report it to police and everything ? What a complete Pita. Being offered less than lowest book value as well no doubt. Grrr on your behalf. Karma, where are you when we need you ? James should have reported him for fleeing the scene of an accident! I went to local police station, they straight up wouldn't investigate it as i "didnt report it within 24H" even tho i had to wait 7 days to get footage Ash
