Hi there. I'm thinking of selling mine if I can get the right sort of money. It ticks all the boxes except the under 2K. I'm looking for about £2.5. I put a thread up here, in the valuation section. linkLet me know if you're interested. I'm just north of Portsmouth in Hampshire.

Thanks Grumps. Appreciate the extra option In the end I went with these folks: thewheelspecialist.co.ukDid a really good job of straightening it out and checked the other 3 over for me. Nice and friendly, good communication etc. They've also quoted £108 / wheel all in, to re-finish the alpinas in this post link in a nice classic looking silver, with satin black centres, just to give you an idea of costs. Didn't think that was too bad at all really. Will post up an image of them after straightening tomorrow.

Maybe it says something about the economy. Younger people can't afford to buy their own houses so readily these days, so it stands to reason, that they would have less money to persue a hobby such as motorsport, whether as a spectator or as a participant.
Maybe people are getting less creative these days too, with more crippling insurance demands. In an ideal world, every weekend would be booked up with 'Extreme car roof Ironing Championships', race your car against a greyhound events, blind driving tournaments, toddler class racing, V8 Sofa racing, semi aquatic naked relay sprinting, to name just a few.
Think DiscoStew may be onto something too. Developers love big chunks of land. They've got a practically inexhaustable supply of money and friends in high places.
Sad state of affairs though really.

Thanks for the suggestions chaps. Being a path of least resistance kind of bloke, I started looking about a bit more locally and I found a place in Fareham that seemed ok, then I read a thread on Pistonheads with quite a few people who had used them and were very happy with everything, and still were quite a few years later. I'm going to go there tomorrow or thursday to drop the wheels off. I'll post up results if they get the wheels sorted. Thanks again for the suggestions, much appreciated.

Are the Alpina's a square set or 7x16 and 8x16? Hiya. The Alpinas are 16" 7j & 8j original 70's staggered open lugs. Here's a couple of links to a couple of other sets that are for sale. link 1link 2They are asking 3K for them. I'm not a business with overheads, I want them to sell, so open to offers. First proper offer takes.

(Edit) (Alpinas are From 1979!!) All 5x120. All for sale. I'm in Hampshire UK. If anyone's interested I'll get some more details & photos up. 4x 16" staggered Alpina Open lugs. Need a refurb: Open to Offers 4x 17" Staggered PLS Magny Cours (MC15). Great condition, centre caps could do with spraying. They'll come with the german test certification I got with them. Worth noting, they're very wide and have good tyres. Took me a long time to get my hands on these, I've managed to get a set of 16" for my old E3, which are a bit thinner and should stress the running gear a bit less, so the 17's are now for sale. Open to offers. Not mine, but this is what they look like polished up. link to a Polished setAnd Lastly 4x BBS RC090 17" The lacquer has peeled and a previous owner has sprayed the lips black, so they need a refurb, which I've started as shown and currently have fairly poor tread on the tyres. £400

Hi there. Like your old E36, very nice. I'm trying to get some money together for a move abroad, so I've decided I'm going to have to 'be a big boy' and sell some of my wheel hord that I've been saving for my E3 Beemer. It truely pains me. I've got 3 sets to sell that are 5x120. I've got a set of BBS RC090's. 17" non staggered that need a refurb. Not sure how much they are worth to be honest, but there's a set on ebay currently starting at £500, they also need a refurb, so I reckon somewhere around that figure. Can't find a photo of them at the moment, except thisd one out of my E3 build thread. If you're interested give me a shout and I'll take some pics tomorrow. I've also got a set of PLS Magny Cours 17" Staggered. It took me a long, long time to get them and they would be expensive as they're very rare. They are very fat and look amazing on big beemers. I can't beleive I'm actually selling them as it took me 2 years of detective work to even find out what they were, then another 4 or 5 years to get a set, The plan was to strip and get them polished up. If you can stretch for something proper special let me know.

What I'm after is a ball park figure as the MOT runs out in August and I've got nowhere to put it, so I've got to decide whether to sell it as is, if I can, or bite the bullet and ship it abroad with me, where I'll store it until I've built my workshop, where it will get a full nuts and bolts resto. I've currently got about 3K in it in total, would be happy to get some / most of that back if possible. Might be unrealistic, I just don't know. Any Ideas anyone ? Work done. Worth noting that all the mechanical stuff that I personally did to it was under the supervision of a very good Pro mechanic I'm one of those people who likes to torque everything correctly, with the correct fixings and use the right products/greases/fluids etc OEM if possible Replaced Calipers all round with new. All new brake hoses. Replaced the rear axle with a good second hand one. Replaced most hard brake lines. New fuel filter. New shocks (Sachs) all round. New clutch slave cylinder. New CV Boots. New lower ball joints, New track rod ends. Replaced both lower wishbones. New plugs, dizzy cap and rotor. 4x New fan belts etc, yes 4. Fitted rear airbag spring assistors to stop the Super Aero wheels rubbing. Replaced the front ABS sensors and reluctor rings. New hub nuts. Replaced various hoses. A s**t tonne of welding using fresh steel. Things to do: Head Gasket has blown. Gearbox needs changing (have replacement box). Grind down welds, stone chip and paint. Could do with a full respray ideally. Head lining has dropped. Needs tracking done. Turbo seems good, never any smoke or anything. Pulled well, didn't seem to use a lot of oil. Held temp well (till head gasket went). Spring Assistors: Wheels: Shocks Axle Belts Car

Hi all. It's looking like I'll be moving abroad soon and I need to weigh up my options with my saab. Its the saab in this thread: linkI'm at work at the moment so I'll add more pictures when I get in. Basically, It's a running, road legal project with new shocks, brakes, fuel lines / filter, airbag spring assisters, Saab 9000 16" super-aero 3 spokes with polished lips ( could be in or out of the sale) etc etc (again I'll do a full list) When I got it on the road, the head gasket blew and it still needs the gearbox changing ( no 4th gear, I do have a replacement box for it though) It still needs the repaired metal areas stone chipping & painting etc. As I say, I'll tidy this thread up a bit later, but I wanted to get the ball rolling. I know the description is a bit curse word at the mo, but any ball park figures for such a project ? here it is in full bloom. (probably looks a bit better in the photo than it is)

Cheers for posting that. Indeed a lovely wee film. I love that she just set off, reseonably unprepared and just faced the challenges as they came. Not done often enough in modern life, for the most part. Hats off for do'ers.

5 cylinder lumps (well the Audi ones anyway) have a slightly off-beat burble, which can sound a bit V8-ish. Nice. My old 10v 2.2 Audi B3 had more of a fast: dum dum dum dum dum on idle, with a nice raspy tone at higher revs. Definately off beat.
