Hey John, I've got a good 4 speed box that I'm swapping the autobox for so I'll have to leave the 5 speed! Also price drop to £100. I'll try and get some pics up as soon as the snow clears, as the autobox is still on the car, the pictures might not be that informative. If anyone knows where to look for specific gearbox numbers etc then that would be appreciated!

So I've got an 1.6 automatic Capri and I'm converting all the running gear to 2.0 manual.
Up for sale is the auto gearbox, torque converter, and whatever other bits come off an auto box, so there'll be everything there you need to convert a manual to auto if you want.
the mileage is approx 70k and i've got reciepts for a very expensive full gearbox rebuild and new torque converter about 10k miles ago.
It's still attached to the car at the moment as I haven't got enough room to store it, but it'll be removed for buyer.
If anyone wants pictures or anything, just ask!
Not sure what kinda price to ask for this... so £120 for the lot? or offers or maybe tuning bits for Pinto, what you got?
Cheers!

Hello!
I am after a 1.6 Pinto engine prefferably complete, it doesn't matter if it runs or not, I'd even be up for paying someone to borrow one and then returning it after!
Also need a standard 1.6/2.0 Capri exhaust, condition not really important.
I'm in the Surrey area
Thanks a lot!

where are you from zildjian, a mate of mine might be breaking a Capri in the next few months and the shell could be up for grabs but it's in the north east so dunno if it'll be too far for you. Thanks dude! I think from the way it's looking I might have to just break and sell it all. I'll see what the payout is saying and then if I'm feeling inspired Ill definately seriously consider it!

Thanks vaughant, that's definately relieved part of my stress!
I still reckon I'm gonna try and source an original crusty old exhaust and borrow a set of steelies off of someone just in case.
Gonna hunt down some ads for good nick expensive Capri LS's so I can show the guy that the cars worth more than pittance. I hear they give you a ridiculous first offer after a writeoff.
Has anyone had any experience with claiming from Lancaster insurance?
I'm just hoping the whole process won't be drawn out over months!

Yeah the scuttle panel is twisted, the passenger side floor pan is bent and cracked and I can fit a couple of fingers between the top of the door and A pillar when the door is closed. I want to reshell it and keep it or break it up for spares to try and make some money back. Absolutely gutting

Yeah this is Mike Ds old car, I literally sold all my possessions to afford it and travelled from south London to get it, it's my first crash and I'm sick to my stomach about it, literally haven't slept since it happened. I wasn't being silly when it happened either the car just lost control and I couldn't correct it. I am really worried about the assessor running over it with a fine tooth comb and finding a reason not to pay out. The car is insured as standard and the wheels are 4 spoke revolutions so I think that should be ok. I just don't know how thorough they will be. Thanks for any input guys. This whole situation is getting me down!

Does anyone know how thorough the assessors are? the bonnet won't open, will they just leave that or do they have to check everything? or just inspect the damage?
It's my first crash and I feel a bit out of my depth, I just don't want this to have an adverse effect on my forseeable driving/financial life!

I'm completely completely gutted.
After just servicing and getting my Capri running just right, I took it out for a test drive, spun out on a wet roundabout and destroyed the front left of the car, the chassis is twisted and I'm pretty sure it'll be a Cat B writeoff.
I'm going through insurance now, the engineers going to come check the car out at my house next week.
If the car is a Cat B writeoff, is there any way I can keep the car and break it for parts or strip it all and reshell it?
Thanks for any help!

I'm contemplating selling this badboy, I've still got so much love for it, I just don't want to run it into the ground and I don't have a garage to keep it in. The powers that be forbid me from having 2 cars again.
