How about some larger headlights? Definitely want larger headlights. I bought the ones I have now about 10 years ago because I thought they'd look cool. I should have kept the ones I had originally! Also these small ones are terrible on low beam. Regarding the 12v VHS player, one day while we were in Fort William we found a hardware shop that sold those cassette player adapters. We bought one and connected it to the VHS player's headphone socket and had glorious Citroen ZX tape deck surround sound for the remaining film nights.

That yard looks a lot like Seatons place,I think I remember seeing the bird nest in that Freelander. I'm tempted to drop a diesel in my Dads Locost after reading this. Yeah that's Seaton

From a spectator's point of view I thought it was great. The only thing I'd suggest on improving on is communication to the spectators on the hill. It's obvious from the start line when the last car of that session has left the start line, but it isn't from up on the hill. A simple "that's the last car of the session" over the public speaker system would be great. Also an occasional reminder over the P.A of the format would be good. E.g. how you have the morning and afternoon sessions, guest cars, when each session has finished etc.

that 205 is hell of a bit of kit It really is! Did I have Father Jack levels of ear wax in my ears or did the commentator on the Tann...public speaker system... say it was two hundred and something kilograms?

Here's my footage of some of the hill climbs. Some from the morning, some from the afternoon. I live fairly rural and my internet isn't great. I started uploading this on Tuesday and it's just finished! Great event as always!

Where's your metal umbrella, then? I went with an all-in-one motorbike waterproof suit in the end I got back a few days ago from a road trip to Scotland. What better way to test your car just after MOT than 1000 miles? We set off at about half 9. We pushed back departure 24 hours due to a couple of issues that needed sorting - leak off pipes, oil breather, installing a battery isolator and fitting a 12v + USB socket (proved to be very handy). The morning we left @ half 9: An hour later in a layby off the A1: The front right brake was binding slighty. Nothing major, and it was freed off in no time. Co-op @ Balloch. The first of many 'Irn Bru Extra' On the way up to Fort William We took a 12v VHS player. Film Night was a regular campsite feature Great roads Old machinery at the roadside The view from Applecross towards Skye Applecross campsite Ready for the return over Applecross pass Top of Applecross pass This last photo was from a friend who came along for the trip. A few more hereWhat a great trip. The only real mechanical issue was the gear selector housing shearing off. A local garage in Lochcarron helped me out and welded it back up. Otherwise it was disappointingly faultless. I had my photo taken on the motorways and dozens of conversations with friendly folk asking what it was etc. Walkie talkies with a motorbike helmet adapter kit was brilliant, used all the time. I never knew how good a road trip was for figuring out what you want to improve on your car. Diff gearing needs sorting out soon as it was a little high on motorways. I measured fuel economy once from Greenock to Inveraray and was getting 46mpg. The support car was a '97 Citroen ZX. It shares the same turbo'd XUD lump as my MK. 217k on the clock but she kept on going the whole trip. A great support vehicle! When I do a Scotland trip again it'll have to be 2 weeks minimum. 1 is nowhere near enough

Since 2006 the furthest this car has ever been from Leicestershire is Peterborough. Posting this update from Fort William. The drive up here, in Scottish rain, was entertaining to say the least. Only issue so far has been a caliper binding slightly. Fixed in a layby in 10 mins. I think i can vaguely remember a concept of sleep.

What's this nonsense about horses? Me and my men will have a field cleared in a week, and sown in a day. I'm sure this will just blow over.
There's talk of steam engines overtaking the horse. I can't see it myself. They need water every 10 miles, who's going to put water points across all of the country? There's no interest in something that can only go that far. I'll be sticking with my horse. We've got shire horses for working the fields, horses for transport and small ponies for working down the pits. I'm sure this will just blow over, you'll see.
People on the streets are sayin' that this new kind of engine is going to overtake the steam engine. What a load of codswallop. This empire was built on steam, it's lasted a hundred years and will last hundreds more. We've improved them over the years and they'll keep getting better. We've got steam engines for our boats, trains, traction engines and pumping houses. People are buying petrol in tins, it'll take ages to fill your car up! And how are they going to get petrol to every town and village across Britain? I've seen some of these new petrol cars, they can only go 20 miles and I can run faster! No, I'm sorry, steam is king and it's here to stay. I'm confident that this will all blow over.
I've heard about electric vehicles are the up and coming trend. What tripe. My diesel engine will keep on ticking for another 300 thousand miles, I've no need for a car that can only go 100 miles! And how are we going to get electricity to people's homes? This will definitely blow over, mark my words.

So how are you going to mount an umbrella so it stays on at 70mph? Custom umbrella made from billet aluminium + cnc machine. It'd take a while to cut but I think it'd work Went for a drive this evening.

Failed MOT test just over a week ago on a ball joint. Passed retest on Tuesday and I've covered about 80 miles in the last 2 days. Got caught in heavy rain today, but had motorbike helmet on and full waterproofs. I'm off on a road trip in 2 weeks time so I'll be prepping for that now. 12v socket, battery isolator switch, maybe a luggage rack, camera mounts, improved gearbox mount. Lots to be doing! The MOT tester said "the two strangest vehicles I've ever tested both belong to you"

Yeah ideally I'd swap to something else like a BMW diff. I've got a 3.14 sierra diff on my bench though so I'll convert that to LSD at some point as it'll be the easiest route for now

I've just finished making a bonnet. It started in much the same way as the nose cone. I looked at the price of a new one, ouch. I managed to find one second hand, thankfully. No bonnets were available, so I thought I'd make one. I looked at the price of new aluminium sheet and that didn't interest me at all, so I looked for second hand. This caravan full of tupperware and christmas cards gave up it's roof Also while at the scrapyard we saw: EGR sludge: Bird's nest in a freelander engine bay: And this gem (now at home in the tape deck of a '97 citroen zx) I started work on the bonnet I ran a length of pine through my table saw to get a nice angle, then clamped the sheet down and tapped it over using a hammer and a small block of wood First side done And second I then added a thin strip of steel (from an oil barrel lid) to connect the 2 sections at the front, just below the scoop entrance. I've ordered 2 more bonnet latches so they can go on, and then a coat of paint and it'll be done. As good as the finish is on the paint from the caravan, hearing aid beige isn't my first choice. I've also added a skim of filler to the scoop. I'll be going back when I get a free evening to sand down and paint. Also my workshop needs a tidy!

No idea It's currently just got a turbo, but when I had the eaton supercharger and a turbo I was just experimenting, no calculations. I prefer to blow things up and try again!

Nose cone fitted. Still need to sort out a mesh for it. Bonnet next, then it's a few little jobs like speedo bracket and tidying up the exposed area around the gearstick.
