If the eBay guy is in the States then it's not a problem - there isn't anything that stops a guy in the UK trading under the same name. It's only if someone in the UK did vinyl graphics and was registered under that name that there would be a possible problem. Stickysituation.co.uk is taken, but this might be a company that sells sellotape/adhesives or any other product for all we know? Sticky-situation.com is available.... I have the URL mud-monkeys.com, just because the co.uk version is taken doesn't mean I can't use .com.....mudmonkeys (both com & co.uk) are also taken but using the hyphen means it's all mine to use as I see fit. The same applies to Sticky Situation. Anyway, look what I found when I googled 'Retro Car Stickers' LOL

If you type www.stickysituation.com into browser it brings up a site. The only reason I say it would put me off the name is that I would prefer to have both co.uk and .com registered to me, alot of people will remember a name and presume its .com or co.uk so its nice to have both. Was very important to me when I set my business up (in the same field as it happens). Looks like stickysituation.co.uk is parked?

I already have a website registered only .co.uk at the moment but .com and .net is avalable. theres no buisness registered in the uk with the name sticky situation with anything to do with stickers, advertising or printed. i have looked in to trademarking however it would cost me to much to register right now. once i am up and running i will have another look. If there is a problem with the name in the future i will change it but at this time i don't see a problem with it atall. Just the name of a company shouldnt put you off buying from them

Is it going to be a full time Business? I sold stickers for a while some time back. Mainly thermal transfered ones but same idea. Just be warned it takes one hell of a lot of sticker sales to make any kind of worth while monies. I stopped when paypal started charging 30p flat rate for any transaction, kills any low value sales. When choosing your name it may be worth considering something which allows you to diversify if need be.

Sticky Situation Ltd existed until it wound up in 2009, doesn't really affect you using it as a trading name though.
If I was setting up an Internet-based company I'd aim for a completely unique name/phrase so you'll end up straight at the top of the Google results. With "sticky situation" it'd probably take months (if ever) to get onto the first page, let alone at the top of it. It's alright calling yourself a fairly generic name if you have premises in town, but with any sort of Internet thing you need something completely unique and the shorter the better (preferably one word). People on the Internet don't try very hard so if you're not incredibly easy to find it'll make a massive difference to your results. Length of the domain name makes a difference too - a shorter name is perceived to be a more established business.
Look at names of some of the most well-known Internet phenomenons to get an idea - Google, Spotify, Napster, Facebook, Twitter, Ebay, Flickr. Something along those lines - memorable and snappy, doesn't have to be clever. Just keep thinking of names and bash them into search engines. If there's anyone using a domain name variant of it, try again. Register the .com and .co.uk variants as a minimum, but if I was doing it as a serious business I'd take all the others too (.net, .biz, etc.) just to keep control.
Hirst, for all your serious business advice and illegal minicabbing needs.

The only reason i got a plotter was mainly personal use and a few friends if they wanted them but then noticed on another forum i used that alot of people wanted cheap stickers so decided to tell everyone. I don't plan to make much money. £50 a month would be fine, aslong as it covers the costs i get all my stickers for free

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
