Once again, someone buys a cheap car on here as an "enthusiast" and sticks it on eBay after a quick tidy for a profit !! I do this a lot too. Some people even do it for a living. Anyway if you looked at the ebay ad, it started at £150, the same figure as is in this thread. Not the sellers fault if the price goes up, is it? Seems to be an all round good guy that has got the car running, and is now getting flak for selling his own property!

In all fairness the vehicle was bought with the intention of putting it back on the road not just to sell on !!!
thanks surprisingskoda for seeing the other side of it .
The car was indeed started at £150 and if it sold for £150 it would have meant paul(the owner) had sold it at a loss once he had taken out the money for the service bits , ebay fees etc , the intention is to make sure the car goes to a good home and back on the road, if he was just after a quick profit then why post a link on here as it would just anger people!

hats off to anybody 'having a go' with loads of people on short hours or out of work after chrimbo etc, nobody gets ripped off! [because the eventual buyer bid a price they were happy to pay] the car was here for £150 for us all to buy, some people are more prepared to take a 'risk', have the car transported, clean it ,write the ad etc etc theres no such thing as free money! also as i read it i think its the owners mate listing on his behalf ,GLWS god knows we could all do with it now and again [if we are prepared to put the work in!!]

yes ,it started badly ,petered off in the middle and the least said about the end the better!!!

The only guy who has complained is the one that lost out on buying it first time around. Plus its nice to see that the car wasnt stripped for bits by an 'enthusiast' and then taken over the bridge

I'm the original poster and I'm not getting hot under the collar. Sure I could have done the work myself, I was even offered more money than I posted it on here for.
Truth is I never had the time to work on it and needed my garage back before Christmas. Since I have let it go it has been properly cleaned in and out, probably had a new battery fitted as the old one was shot. The engine now starts first time.
The only bit I am unsure of is that I think the front valance is structural on the Princess, just what I was told by other owners. If that is the case then it will need doing before an MOT as its shot.
Sure I wish I had held out for more money, but I got what I asked for it. Fair play to the bloke that bought it if he can turn a profit.

It seems like this car will do well on ebay currently £500 with over 90 people watching the auction, although it was always intended as a farther & son project by my mate who bought it to put it back ont he road , but the son has a mk2 Escort that he is looking to get back on the road already and his dad is currently restoring a Berkley meaning they don't have the time to put into the Princess that was intended . As stated on the auction it was bought on a whim as it was a no brainer that the car would sell quickly at the price it was originally advertised for. GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE INTENDING TO BID .... :-)

There's nothing wrong with being smart and putting in a bit of graft to make a profit, it's the way the world works.

well the good news is the car was purchased by a gentleman that works for a classic car publication , the idea being the WEDGE will be featured in the magazine as a restoration project. :-) :-) :-)

My colleague at Classic Car Weekly, Richard Gunn, now owns this car. It's had a fair amount of money and time spent on it, but it is now on the road. He did an introductory Team Classics report on it for the Nov 2 issue of CCW, which tells a lot more of the story. He has a thing for beige/BL products, also being the owner of a similar Allegro! Cheers, Matt
