I suspect the above It will be poor LPG conversion or bad LPG tune, Good LPG is 99% like petrol, bad and no torque, no response, poor economy (though still cheaper because of fuel cost)

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

yeah, a good sequential kit should see no noticable power drop, and only marginal difference in MPG. Older single point systems are supposed to carry a 5-10% reduction in power and fuel efficiency - howerver when used in larger old barges I have never found I noticed the difference on LPG or petrol in performance terms. Only in the wallet!

I'm pretty set I want a 535i, the only thing that'll will test my resolve is if a nice Carlton or Senator 24v comes up when I've got the money! Thanks for all the info guys ;D

Our 525i is just as slow on petrol as LPG, I had the LPG system fully serviced at the start of this year (autogas 2000 in Thirsk). I've been to 2 BMW garages, both of who seemed to think it's performance was normal for a 525i and found no faults. I suppose it depend's what you're used to, top speed is great, but acceleration is pretty dismal.
Watch out for the water pumps, I'm not sure what other models share the pump of the 24v engine, but when the water pump on ours came off while repairing a timing cover oil leak the impeller (plastic) was cracked and in danger of falling apart.

My 525i was pretty lively, loved to rev too - book figure (manual) was 8.2 seconds - against the M30's 7.1 seconds. Quite a difference but in terms of usefulness on a daily basis....
It does weigh almost, if not more in some instances, 1600kg though, blunting that power somewhat. approximately 200BHP isn't really that much on the grand scheme of things, especially in cars like this - with the effect being exacerbated by automatic variants....

^^^^That is nice but 3 problems: Auto 2.5 engine Bit too much money Dude, you still got access to that saab lump (*cough* carlton estate still waiting to sell.... mainly due to being lazy on the advertising haha) The Saab lumps gone my mate sold it plus Hardcore already asked about it. Tempted by the Carlton as it would be epic with Saab power, but in the same breath I want something with no hassle! Just slam and skid, for that reason the 5 seems to be ideal.
