Some of you might remember me starting this a looooonnnnnggg time ago & basically did naff all, as per usual. BUT now the time has come to get my ass into gear & get it sorted-reason being I'm getting married in Feb 2011 & have promised myself & SWMBO that I WILL be driving myself to the church in this car, finished. Started off with one of the most rotten cars I've ever seen, never mind owned, here it is being slowly stuck back together structurally After 6 months in the workshop, new strut tops made, new foot wells, rear pockets, front crossmember, inside rear valance, rear suspension pick up points for trailing arms, rear sprint seats, rear shock mounts... Bought a few tasty bits for it: Eventually got an the engine bay painted & engine back in it . That's it for photo's so far, but have got as far as inlet for twiin 40's & 4 branch fitted (eventually after it fouled the steering rack) Also have rebuilt one of the front calipers this afternoon. Hopefully more news to come next week when I get back in the workshop.

Best of luck with it man, hope you get there. Plenty to do but you'll get there. Excuse my ignorance in all things J-car but is this a bugeye Starlet?

No, not a bugeye, this is a mk2, so square headlights, but non drop tailgate-same as mk1 bug eye. Made from 80-82, Bugeye from 78-80. Hopefully get it running or close to next week & not too far off being painted as have been doing the bodywork ready for it, but haven't taken any pics for months!

Fitted the inlet & exhaust manifold yesterday after I modified it to fit-bought a supposed 'custom made for a kp starlet' 4 branch & the collector hit the steering rack! So bit of cutting, hammering & rewelding & it finally clears (just): Bought some cap head bolts to fit the manifolds with as it's a pig to get at standard manifold bolts with a twin 40 inlet manifold Problem I now have is fitting the carbs. With the ram pipes fitted they foul on the inner wing, not a problem I thought, just take them off for now & get some shorter ones, but they have an odd secondary ventury type thing & tube insde that, with what looks like another jet? Never seen it before on Webers & it's all held in place by the ram pipes. Anyone tell what I'm doing wrong & what I can do to sort it?

Thanks, the TRD manifold is a genuine one that cost me a small fortune when I finanlly found one! Although doesn't fit as well as a JDM one I sold on a year or so ago! Hoping to get some banjo's & fuel pipe this week, so should get the brake calipers finished while I'm waiting those those to arrive.

Painting began last night! It's having a proper DIY farm workshop bodge spray as can't afford to have it done properly! Spent the last couple of days finishing off the filling as best I can, then yesterday flatting off & masking up. Then by brother painted the primer for me. Managed to also get one coat of top coat on to seal it up, but ran out of paint but hopefully get it finished over the weekend if we can get the workshop warm enough again Please excuse very shonky phone pics, did get some with a better camera, but left it in the workshop last night.

This is the most rotten one I'd ever seen! But got to the point of no return, so had to carry on through gritted teeth! Yes will have a little less space between tyre & arch, probably only about 50mm lower for the wedding because of where it's got to go, but I've got some 100mm lower springs for it, although will hopefully make some coilovers for the front.

Came out the workshop this morning after the final painting yesterday. Really pleased with how it's come out for a home spray job-thanks to my brother Mark for painting it for me, the only thing that let it down is my prep work! Will get some pictures up of it as soon as it's dry enough to get it out again!

I have been working on it, just not updating or taking many photos! Brake calipes now rebuilt ready to refit. Rear arms off back axel are all off painted & will be fitting poly bushes to them asap. TCA's are off at bottom ball joints are knackered, new ones on thier way & will also have poly bushes fitted before going on.
Fuel tank cleaned & painted ready for refit. Job for next week until TCA's arrive is sort out cables for carbs as need to drill the bulk head for twin cables & fit attachment to throttle pedal. Also waiting for a piece of wiring loom from Ireland so I can get that finished off & get it running soon!

where did you get the trd manifold from?
looks like alot of work going into this!

The Manifold I bought from someone in California who bought it direct from his contact in Japan & cost me a small fortune. The JDM ones work well enough & much easier to find.
Has cost me far more than I ever wanted to spend on it so far, but I keep buying extras that I orginally wasn't going to use (isn't that always the way!)
