Well second HID kit fitted, headlights, heater blower and indicators now working again! unfortunately still no speedo. It did work briefly but didn't seem too happy and now it has stopped working again! I know the cable is OK now so I'm guessing either the speedo head or the drive in the gearbox.
Problems, problems!

Rare to see a non turbo. I had a December 94 1.9TD 'Dimension' as my first brand new car. Did 100,000 in just under 4 years...a brilliant car that i still have fond memories of

Wow, I've got to get me one of those HID kits!
I used to get taken to school in one of these. I remember having to start it a few minutes before we wanted to leave so that it would raise off the road in time?
Much better than the boring Citreons of today

Well I now have a working speedo. It was not locating properly into the cable. It works but it is still not right. A bit more fettling to do but at least it is working!

Well another trip to the scrapyard today yeilded a nice suprise, a new arrival in the shape of a 1997 'R' Xantia Estate. So I grabbed a lock set and spare key, a set of door panels to match the seats, a set of the nice velour carpets and a few bits of trim in nice condition. I'm off work for a week in week so the big valet and fit up will hopefully be done then.
Yesterday I got the headlamps adjusted (they were too high) and checked out the rear brakes (recently had new rear discs and pads by the look of it. Result!)
Photos to follow soon.

If you haven't already, a set of late mk1 headlamps is a worthy upgrade

I have fitted replacement headlights with HID kits as described earlier up the thread. Not sure if they were late mk1 ones though. What are the benefits?

Big cleaning day today! First of all I stripped out the seats and carpets: The old carpets: Then I cleaned the headlining, the worst valeting job ever but it is now much cleaner The drivers seat before cleaning: And after: Then fitted the 'new' carpets: I also got the passenger seat cleaned and refitted both front seats. No photos unfortunately as it was getting dark Just the rear seats and boot area to clean and refit tomorrow if it is dry and then a polish, windows, dash and trims to do

Superb! It's nice to see a Xant receiving some love - the fact that it's an early one makes it even better!

I used to work for a Citroen dealer when this car was new. Always liked the Xantia. 16 years later I own one!

I remember the postman delivering me a Xantia launch pack - i'm sure it included some Xantia matches! ;D It'll still be up the loft amongst the few tonnes of Citroen brochures/packs that i've hoarded! I reckon that must've been May '93. Keep up the good work!

Well seats all cleaned and fitted now. Changed the LHM fluid and cleaned the filters today, seems to have made a big difference the filters were pretty black.
Fitted a new thermostat too although I'm not there there was anything wrong with the old one.....
Oh and I treated it to a new set of European number pates too.....
Next job: the auxilliary belt needs tightened a bit as it slips on start up and a check of the levels once everything has settled.......

Cleaning the filters definitely made a huge difference. Started it up this morning and the stop light went out straight away and it rose up to normal ride height much quicker! Still have to tighten that auxilliary belt though! I also decided a bit of debadging was in order, so, rear badges removed and rear end machine polished up for that smooth shiny look. Off to get some paint to touch the chips in tomorrow morning. Photos of how she looks now this weekend weather permitting!

Decent day today so pictures as promised. Full view from the front. Smooth rear end without the badges. Front interior cleaned. Rear interior cleaned. Finally got that belt tightened up and started to touch in the stone chips. Still more to do but I'm getting there

Hydraulic pump woes! A few weeks a go the auxilliary drive belt started slipping, I tightened it up. A little while later a noise appeared. I left it for a few weeks as you (or I) do and last night I decided I should take a look. It quickly became obvious what the problem was. One mounting (the top one) had sheared, and the pivot bolt had no nut on it and was just flopping around! After removing the pump and drilling out the sheared bolt, I managed to get it sorted until I get new standard bits from the scrappy later. What a difference! It's quieter, the pressure came up quicker this morning and the strange 'buzzy' vibration through the brake pedal has gone

Hey there. I am terrified of the suspension on mine.... (95 vsx estate 1.9td) I have the 7 sphere set up and twice now it has blown the small pipe that runs to the very front sphere.... with this I have quickly lost steering (assisted, you can still heave it in to a layby) then swiftly after the brakes go..... don't get me wrong, I love that it can be fixed for tuppence, but you can only bodge it so many times... I now have a heavy engined car with a serious front end bounce problem... The mot is due soon and I would love to get her through as, despite my hatred of all french cars, I've really fallen for the old bus (effectionately known as ecto1) but with an uneconomical engine (£50 of dinosaur juice got me 300 miles JUST!!!!) and the ever worsening suspension woes I am losing faith quite hastily..... Have you any pics of your above mentioned repair? If I knew I could return my big beastie to a scrappage scheme survivor status I might be inspired to get on and treat it right!!!! not a great pic, but a pic nonetheless (in service high btw....)

Oh Lord, Won't you buy me a Vauxhall Chevette....? Pretty please? I can't find any!!!!
