Gents my friend has started a site for pepole who have had there clasic cars stolen admin can you make this a sticky please. Due to the rise in classic car thefts and also the disappearance of a fellow Monkeys car, I have started a new website to help generate awarness in classic car theft. I would really appreciate it if all Monkeys could promote this site on any other forums that you may be a member of. From what I can see, there only seems to be sites that deal with stolen modern cars. I would love this site to be so big that the chances of someones vehicle being found will be greatly increased. I will be adding bits and pieces to the site over time, but the main structure is all setup and running. It's not something that I have looked forward to doing, but I hope you will all agree that it's in a good cause. Thanks in advance for your help Jim www.stolenclassics.co.ukURL IS NOW WORKING!

I have started a new website to help promote classic car theft. You might want to re-word that bit Good luck to you and even if your site re-unites one car and owner it will have been worth it

Moved this to the Stolen section, hopefully it will help reunite some missing motors with their owners

Good luck with the web site, the more publicity given to the identity of stolen cars etc the more chance of them being returned to their legitimate owners.

The link takes me to FaceBook, is that right? Great idea, BTW, good luck with it I found that too, seems a bit strange to me that it is a closed group with only a few members so you can't advertise a stolen car without getting permission???

classic car thefts rising. in some cases stripped for parts selling on. what is needed is organisations such as e-bay to have a policy asking sellers to confirm in a legal document before selling ..that they are legally entitled to sell classic parts. e.g. they belong to the seller and not selling on.. dealers can easily be registered before hand and a code of practise..possibly government backing here as classic and historic car industry is multi million pound tourist and charity industry not to mention jobs it supports. much current fervour on classics etc being gained by shows showing car restorations .. it would possibly be an idea if all historic car insurers had a fund to pay into e.g. £1 per policy holder ( always passed on anyway) plus say a £1 fee from e-bay for any classic car or part .this going to a central fund ..lets call it historical vehicles trust. the assets to be used to reward anybody (within reason) for information leading to arrest and conviction of illegal seller of stolen cars or part. big push to have anybody stealing an historic car who is responsible for having a hand in its destruction or shipment abroad jailed and fines..say 20 times value of car stolen. fines on stolen parts matching value and again say 20 times. only by making risk of stealing classic/historic/veteran cars and parts and selling on a bad idea due to penalties involved ,will we hope to have an impact over time. at moment theft of say a beloved 30 year old car is not seen as worthy of local press let alone national. given proper funding and organisation all bodies involved in restoring .maintaining. collecting and presenting such items of historic and public interest can when working with each other become a national and international force. e.g. law change that require customs declaration form from select to affirm ownership. before selling on overseas. if found to be stolen.. the seller to face full legal consequences. a second offence by same person or organisation to have immediate jail sentence and a minimum fine of £5000 with no upper limit. given proper press. funding and organisation we can involve royalty ( they do own a few decent cars and do have a bit of political clout) . higher levels of captains of industry etc. even stores such as Tesco can get involved. who about microsoft? say a free web page where owners can give details of past/cars stolen and pics etc reward scheme for those who have given information leading to return of items or cars. say a draw once a year between all volunteers who gave information that had a result. prize? well haw about brand new car donated by the car manufactures. sure they may want to be involved in bit of free publicity for good. maybe offer one of own cars ?
