That's a lovely restoration, not sure I've even seen one of these before! Interior is definitely an ode to American interiors as you say. Looks mint though

Hi TimCROWN Your not alone , we've got 2 of the estate version's MS63. We found the same thing as your's but under the front windscreen , it had also gone along the gutter's on both sides , and basically the bottom 6-8 inches all-round. We did the restoration ourselves , me and my dad , 1 kept original and the other was converted to a pick-up.Both have had engine/box etc. swaps mainly using parts from the later MS112 CROWNs. We've also got 2 Cressida's RX30/MX32 that we're working on as well. I've posted a link to my album rather than trying to put all the pics on here. s100.photobucket.com/albums/m31/adpal67/Toyota%20CROWN/?start=all Adam

Superb!
The engine looks new. Was it transferred from a newer Toyota ?
Did you get a good price ?
Cheers, Tim

Superb! The engine looks new. Was it transferred from a newer Toyota ? Did you get a good price ? Cheers, Tim thanks, that engine is a 5M out of a 82ish CROWN. they did make 4M with the same rocker cover, very late model 65/75's had a 4M that looked like that. i sold it for 10K, which is a pretty good price. that car had all the best bits, disk brake diff, power steering, big front brakes, black interior, original tool kit and service manuals along with the original sales receipt listing the engine and chassis number. it was a unique car. a day does not pass when i don't regret selling it................ if you need any info on 60 series CROWNs don't hesitate to ask. your pal, sheepers.
