Hey Flamey / MiniCity - fancy seeing you here!! Hey everyone - great forum and some real smart cars. Anyway, I haven't got a Smart car I've got a Mini (!!), and here it is: It started life as a 1990 Checkmate, now it's slightly modified with a Stage 4 Swiftune 1380 and 45DCOE(105bhp @ wheels)

I'm not even gonna post mine. It's a lot like CheckMates, but 276 cam, HIF44 carb, Stage 3.
Oh, and Mines a Flame Red, Checkmates is, erm, a Checkmate and they are the same age...
Not that it's relevant...
hehehehehe....
Admin guy:> Do we cost the community anything by posting on here? ie, is this setup like EZBoard?

Nope its a free board,.. ads are at the top so must be where they get their money from. When we're rocking with more members etc. then I'll pay for the board to get rid of the ads. Gotta get the website up first though

HoTWire: Car and Trailer cost me £3500 as they are, I've got the receipts from the previous owners for somewhere in the region of £5000 the superchip alone cost around £250 head was £525 Interior was around £300 (its vinyl not leather!)

Excellent more minis! I'll ahve to get a picture of my mates - it's a really early J-plate Rover Cooper, in that silvery grey with a black roof. he's put a few accessories on it, nothing distasteful, it's very sweet!
ONE DAY I'll build myself another one, but I really want a Mk1 this time... I reckon:
Mk1 shell 1440ish CC (I haven't had a Mini for 6 years or so, I don't know who builds good A-Series lumps nowadays) Twin carbs 10" Minilite rims (got the 'S' disc assemblies sat in the garage!)
and EITHER: yellow and black, Britax Cooper style
OR
Surf blue/old english white roof...
ooooohyes, I can hear the gearbox wailing and the engine wheezing away as I type....

Thats not bad at all then,.. That engine looks great some serious fun to be had with it. I guess buying it ready made was a lot cheaper than building it. Not too expensive all round, minis are still good value then. Darren : What do you mean engine builders,.. get David Vizards big blue book

Theres the other lucky point... see the www.surfblue.co.uk on the front screen? The previous owners used to own that. Its a mini specialists... so there goes the labour costs... I dread to think what it would cost to do with those included!

I bought mine for £1000, engine was £1000 (second hand), spent about £600 on other engine bits, £350 on interior, wheels where a free-be (winner). The whole car cost me about £4000 excluding the cost of buying the car.
I have plans to sell it and start again - either with an A Series lump (1410cc turbo / supercharged, straight cut 6 speed box) or converting a MKI MR2 to fit a Mini bodyshell.

Once again not a huge ammount for a well sorted car. I take it both your cars are solid? Mr2 into Mini might be interesting. Checkm8 : did you do the work youself or get garage to do it, what are the labour costs like for mini work?? We got crippled by the cost of work on our old Beetle.

If you're gonna do a job, you might as well do it properly.........! So many people have done Vauxhaul 2.0ltr 16v's or VTec conversions I thought it was time to do something different - however, I didn't realise it had already been done Maybe I'll have to find a Scooby and convert that..........hmmmmmm!

Heres my Retro Ride, ex free formula 850 that raced in the 70's, as it left Lydden Hill in 76', even came with the original numbers, slicks and low back corbeau. Been sitting in a container for 20 odd years :o Can't get more retro than that ;D This used to be my old mans Mini, that raced against 'the thingyney Rebel'...
